Wharney Hotel

The hotel is definitely well and strategically located. Wan Chai MTR station is 3 minutes walking distance to the left of hotel on Lockhart Road. SOGO Causeway Bay mall is a 19 minutes walk to the left of hotel on Lockhart Road. Lots of pubs and restaurants from the hotel. The hotel lobby is clean, well-maintained with Christmas decorations put up. Swift check-in at the reception. 3 elevators. You need to insert your key card for the elevator to take you to the floor where your room is. Similarly, you need to insert your key card at the door to enter your room. The room and bathroom are clean and well maintained. I was traveling alone and booked a Premier Earth Double Room (double bed). The hotel upgraded me to a Premier Earth Family Room. I ended up with a double bed and a single bed. I slept on the single bed. The blackout curtains made the room totally pitch dark for a great sleeping experience. The strong water pressure and nice hot water made showering great.

I have stayed in many hotels all over the world but this is the first time I have a room without a wardrobe. It is an open shelf concept. For those arriving from countries where you have a hand-held bidet in your bathroom to wash, there is none in this hotel. The room is very cold. The air-conditioner is set at 20.5 degrees Centigrade and cannot be adjusted despite pressing the raise temperature button.

The room is clean and spacious, considering it locates in Hong Kong. Good location with metro and many good restaurants surrounded. The gym is nice. The staff (front desk and cleaning lady) are super helpful. Very good price.

It’s not really the problem of the hotel, but the bars surrounded sometimes play loud music during the nights.

Water pressure for the shower was fantastic. Location was also great--it was super walkable from Wan Chai MTR and fairly so from the the Star Ferry Terminal. I actually didn't use any of the facilities so I can't quite comment but the hotel works very well for travellers who want a space as a base.

At the price the hotel offered, everything was great!

The shower and toilet area were very up to date, clean and attractive...with one exception...

To our surprise, there was no electric wall socket in the toilet/ shower area to plug in the hair dryer! We had to dry our hair in the bedroom, without the benefit of a mirror 🪞!!

The location is perfect and close to the subway. It wasn't noisy considering what you can find in Hk. The hotel staff is nice. The room is a good size. There were 1 large bed and 1 person-bed for my child. The beds were incredibly comfortable. The pool is an asset, and once you are in, you ll enjoy the view in the middle of the buildings. The pricing is great for the place.

I found the cleaning a bit under my expectations. However, I left the room late in the morning. I am not a huge fan of carpet, and considering the turnover there, I would rather enjoy a hard floor that looks less used.

its newly renovated, clean and the space is enough :) very close to the mtr. great location. many food places outside and close to 7-11. the check- in and check out was fast too.

The breakfast was good. The room was not designed well enough for the demand so a number of small tables had to be shared; that may well suit some people! The location in Wan Chai is prefect in terms of liveliness and metro access. A very comfortable stay.

Wan Chai is a great location, busy and vibrant. The downside is the hotel is also very bustly and lively. Staff are attentive but the reception can become a little crowded. In checking to ensure my account was valid the hotel retained a proportion of the total cost which remained longer than expected and when I enquired why the hotel did not respond. I also asked if they could help with directions from the metro and again I received no response despite several attempts. Communication could be better!

Since I stayed some years ago, they have really gone to work on this hotel. It's now clean and bright, with rooms renovated for comfort and efficiency. Power showers will pin you to the wall, they are so good. There's a capsule coffee machine too. The staff are used to a huge turnover of guests, and they remain friendly (in Hong Kong style) and efficient.

I found it tricky turning off all the room lights from the bed. Sometimes they came on again, but that is a very small issue. Do note that there's no cafe for breakfast or any bar at this point, because they are still renovating. However just outside is everything you want within a few metres.

The Management/owner and designer of this Hotel had done a great job. Every little details have been thoroughly thought of. I counted 10 power plugs (all at the right height). Full length mirror. Moveable little table and stool. CUSTOM toilet roll holder and many more little design that just WORKS.... AND the best of all, the detailing of the shower glass door..... Seals all around, rebate at the bottom of the shower door... NOT A SINGLE drop of water spill outside the shower! All the 5 stars Hotels should learn from this hotel how to design simple yet pleasant and Works Hotel rooms. There are many more to list but people reading this should know by now that this is a GREAT designed Hotel. Highly recommended.

Shelves for clothing would have been so good. The top shelf above the coffee machine is rather too high, may be a couple of light plastic baskets would be very useful for small clothings.
