Hotel Palacio de Aiete

Arrived early due to Bilbao ferry timings, but received a lovely welcome from the Receptionist who checked that our room was ready and allowed us to check in at 11am. The room was fine with a large bed, balcony and clean en suite bathroom. Excellent buffet breakfast including eggs, bacon and Spanish Omelette as well as all the traditional continental breakfast offerings. Pleasant bar offering meals and snacks from the restaurant kitchens. It's approximately a mile downhill walk to the beach, and the walk back is heavy going, but the public transport in San Sebastian is fantastic, the 19 bus leaving every 15 minutes and landing you within 200m of the hotel.

Car parking limited at certain times of the day, but there seemed to generally be the odd space available. As we parked up at the beginning of our stay and didn't use the car at all for our 11 day stay, this didn't cause us issues though.

Breakfast was great. Lots of variety of food and good quality. The restaurant is also quite good. Fine dining, but good food and wine. The bar serves lighter food from the restaurant that is just as good, rather cheaper. Good wine in both places. Just uphill from the restaurant is a beautiful old park. Ask the desk for directions. Lots of history at the park, including an old mansion where royalty, and Franco , stayed.

The hotel is a good hike from the center of town. Getting downtown is a fine walk in good weather. But coming back , if you walk is all uphill. A major climb. But it can be done. A better choice is probably to figure out the buses, which seem easy, cheap, and convenient.

Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We arrived all tired and dirty from overnight stay in mountain refuge and they treated us like distinguished guests and the following day they allowed us to store our luggage whilst we explored the town, helping to carry the luggage; proud of their basque heritage. Rooms were spacious and bathroom facilities were great. Some trendy popular restaurants nearby for evening meal.

Parking at hotel was a bit of a challenge but luckily found a spot after a while.

Hotel is nice, staff friendly, the room spacious and functional. The breakfast was decent; could have a larger selection of cereals, cheeses and pastries.

Parking in front of the hotel seems reserved to the restaurant guests, so we had to park further away in the street, and it seems like there ma be a parking area in that area. On the evening of our arrival we walked downtown (about 2 km downhill) and the receptionist advised us to get a taxi for the trip back (uphill). Unfortunately, we couldn't find any taxi in the designated areas, so we walked, and it wasn't easy. The next day we asked around and found out that buses were available and easy to find. I wish the receptionist had mentioned this option the night before.

We had a very nice room for a one night stay while touring Northern Spain. We got a parking space across the road for our hire car and walked into town which took about 20 minutes. The hotel gave us advice on how to get back and we caught a bus which stopped very close by. The room was comfortable with large twin beds and a balcony. Breakfast was good and the service excellent. I even scrounged hot water and cups to make tea from the bar area when the hotel had run out of kettles to lend.

It would have been nice to have a small fridge to store food that we have bought while touring around.

The property was nicely positioned in a quiet and sheltered spot in the Aiete suburb but within easy distance of the downtown attractions. The internal styling was minimalist with clean simple lines and the room was clean and comfortable.

I thought the 13 euros breakfast charge was a little pricey and the dining room service seemed to suffer from understaffing - for example they were slow to react to the coffee machine breaking down.

Big comfy room, very clean and nice touch with pillow menu! We opted for the cheaper breakfast option at the bar, which was reasonable value. Very quiet, set back in the residential area, it was about 25/30 minutes walk to the centre, which we were happy to do. There is a bus service nearby as well.

There is no real free parking, but we managed to find a place on the street a few hundred yards away. We didn't have the full breakfast because we thought that €20 was too expensive.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Although the hotel is about a 25 minute walk to the town, there is a local bus service which only costs £1.85 and runs frequently. Our room was called Mirador and it was situated on the top floor. It was really roomy and had its own terrace of about 90m^ which overlooked a backcloth of mountains.

The hotel exceeded our expectations but the room lacked a refrigerator and it didn't have a coffee or tea making facility.

The hotel is modern and has great facilities. Bedroom and bed very comfortable and a great breakfast (which is worth paying the extra for as it really is delicious). Staff were super helpful and friendly. Location is 2kms from the city centre but easy to access by walking or bus service. Loved the fact that it was in a local neighborhood with its own character.

The toilet was leaking which I reported a number of times and it was fixed on the last morning as I was checking out. There are limited areas for guests to sit and relax - there is only one sitting room off the cafe which is noisy due to cafe life.

Kettle in the room, I didn’t ask though, they would of probably would of organised if I asked. Great hotel, location a 20 minute walk into town, which we did, however caught the number 19 bus back as its uphill on return. Bus is great runs every 15 mins cost is 3.70 euro for 2.
