Gateway Motor Inn - Self Check-In

This was a good basic motel that has had some upgrades to its facilities. The room is quiet and comfortable with standard motel equipment, microwave, bar fridge, kettle etc., The bathroom is clean, has new single lever basin tap, with good water pressure, and good shower. There's a small outdoor pool which looked clean and well maintained. The motel is located away from the main highway but conveniently near a shopping centre.

There was nothing to dislike, even parking was outside the room.

All went very smooth. Check in was easy. Ran into staff a couple of mornings when getting into the car and they were extremely polite and friendly. Room was clean and provided everything we needed for our 3 day stay.

Beds are a funny thing, everyone has different comfort levels. We found our mattress to be slightly uncomfortable. However it was not a change rooms problem.

The room was very spacious and was spotless. There is a very nice seating area outside and the pool looked inviting but we didn't have time to enjoy either. The room had a microwave, small fridge, snacks, drinks and breakfast items available for purchase. The bed was comfortable and we couldn't fault anything. Don't be put off by the contactless check in, it was very easy and well communicated.

Microwave, toaster, fridge and fresh milk were good. The room was spacious and the garden was fresh and well looked after. I needed to be close to relatives and they were literally 3 mins drive away. Shops, fuel and access in and out of the city was good. I couldn't hear other guests or traffic. Lovely location with lovely hosts.

Getting to you room was via driving around a central pool area for an L shaped building. The short part of the building had angle parking slanted toward the right while the long part of the building had parking slanted toward the left. This means when reversing to drive out, one car is going in one dorection while another is going in another direction potentially causing a blockage. In such a tight space where a car needs to avoid colliding with the pool fencing, it would make sense to have only one direction that cars can drive in and adjust the parking angles to reflect the direction you drive into the car park and out of. Ie one way direction rather than a choice of 2 directions.

Everything about this place felt like a home away from home. The beds were very comfortable, bathroom was spacious with plenty of towels to use. Service was fantastic, and the WiFi was top notch. Highly recommend this place to anyone staying at Broken Hill for a couple of nights. Location is great - as it is on the same road that takes you out to Silverton. Easily one of the best hotels we have stayed at!!

Very clean and comfortable. Nice pool. Good aircon.

The only thing that detracted from enjoying our stay more was the over reaction re covid, ie; no staff in attendance and the little footnote at the bottom of the letter on arrival "If you are unwell with respiratory symptoms or fever immediately get tested and place yourself in isolation until you have received your results" A little authoritarian for my liking. I can actually think for myself thanks.

Clean big room. Close to shops. Modern upgraded appliances. Spa was a welcome extra. Good parking.

There were some concrete curbs laid out in the parking area which had reinforcing bars exposed which could have damaged tyres on cars or be a trip hazard for children or people walking.

Spacious, clean, comfortable accommodation. There was also a pool. Not the time of year for it this time around, but I can imagine it would be nice to have a dip in a pool on a summer stay in Broken Hill. Also very good value for money we thought.

The rooms are nice, tidy and comfortable. Plenty of parking available.

Wouldnt even provide a continental breakfast for me stating COVID, but they had been doing it for another couple who had been staying there for a few weeks. They also need to work on their drainage as all the downpipes just go to the ground and the rain water just pools at the front of your room door. They need to create a drainage channel for it.

Room No. 3 spacious and very well furnished. Bed comfortable. Parking outside room. Would recommend booking room without spa as it eats up space in main room - we make this statement on viewing friends room No. 2

We only use air-conditioning when we have to, however, Could only open bathroom and main room windows an inch which does not allow any fresh into room
