location and facilities are good

we reached there by 8:30pm at night after a long drive from Brisbane. staff informed asked for our credit card details on the way to the hotel and I informed him that I can’t provide my card details over the phone and I am happy to provide it once I see him face to face. Staff informed me that it’s their policy to collect extra $100 before the stay and will be reimbursed it after my stay but he need it before 6pm as he won’t be working after 6pm. If they can’t work after 6pm then they should not follow this policy of charging extra $100 or they should make some arrangements to collect it while booking the room. Asking for card details over the phone is totally unacceptable and because of that reason I won’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

This is one of several stays I have made at the South Cairns Resort. The place was originally chosen for convenience of location to where I needed to be in Cairns. I have continued to happily return here on numerous occasions because of the friendly service and comfortable lodgings. Each of the rooms I have occupied has had a kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave oven, kettle, plates, cutlery and washing up necessities. The bathroom ensuite in each room has been well lit, with a shower over a bath tub. There is a lovely looking pool area which in all my visits I have not yet had time to enjoy! Next visit I’m determined to have a swim!

Although the rooms are very tired and in need of an upgrade our stay at South Cairns Resort was very pleasant. It was clean and the beds are very comfortable. We enjoyed the meals from the Chinese Restaurant on property possibly the best I've had it was so tasty 🙂 To management and team you're doing a great job and I will definitely recommend South Cairns Resort as a great place to stay.

Pleasant welcome as a return guest. While I chose the accommodation again for its location, it has been another comfortable stay. The new owners are clearly committed to creating a space that is clean and guest oriented. I commented on the limited check-in hours in an earlier review, as on previous visits I have had to fill in a few hours between the flight arrival time and check in availability. The manager proactively said I should call ahead and if an earlier time could be arranged they would endeavour to accommodate. Thoughtful and appreciated. I will happily choose to stay here again on future visits to Cairns.

This was my third stay at this accommodation and all occasions have been pleasant. There are new owners since my previous visit, however, from the customer’s view the arrival process and procedures were the same. The owners were hands-on tidying the poolside area. They and other staff kept the facility clean.

An observation from my own experiences is that check in is only available between 2pm and 6pm. On the three occasions I stayed I had flown into Cairns in the morning and had many hours to wait with luggage in tow until check in was possible. I couldn’t risk booking a flight arriving later in the day incase a delay meant I missed the check in time. Possibly there is some leeway had I asked, however the impression was the times were set.

Place is a bit dated, but the room was clean and had everything we needed, the restaurant next door was fabulous,haven't had such great Asian food in a long time. Helen and Darren who run the Motel were both exceptional,Darren even drove us to the Airport when the %##* taxi didn't turn up, my daughter lives in Cairns and we live in Mittagong so we don't get up there as much as we would like. The next time we go to Cairns we will definitely stay there.👍

Just nitpicks, Lack of simple maintenance- faucets were loose, kitchenette faucet was supported by pipe alone, curtains fell down when moved, fridge shelving was missing, door locks cheap garbage Unnecessary noise at 5am by emptying recycle bins

Friendly and helpful man on reception. Very good value for the room. Large room. Lots of space. Has a bath! After travelling the Cape for a week we loved indulging in a long, hot bath. Car parking at the door. Easy to load/unload. Impressed us for our simple needs.

Loved it for what it was. The curlew that lives nearby and calls for his mate during the night gave us a giggle. If people don’t know what that scream-like sound of the curlew is, it could be mildly concerning. Funny.

Management were amazing and proactive at accommodating our needs. We booked interconnected rooms which made it more comfortable. They cleaned our rooms multiple times and changed out towels on request. The room was big enough to have a queen bed and single comfortably spaced. There was a bench along one wall to sit at and prepare food etc. Multiple chairs were available. Each bed had a bedside table. Public transport was easily accessible as was a supermarket. Tours picked up at the resort.It was warm enough to use the pool. There was a Chinese restaurant on site for a meal out. There was a bath in our room and it made it easier with a child. Mcdonalds restaurant was only approximately 200 mtrs away. The resort play equipment was being upgraded. Alternatively they had outdoor gym equipment that accommodated adults as well. The rooms suited our needs.

The television was very old. They only had basic channels. Management said they were currently updating the TV's. The BBQ area was in the carpark. There was talk of moving it. The facility has new owners that have changed the name. Unfortunately the new sign still hadn't arrived when we stayed. The old name on the sign was confusing taxis and tour groups for pickups. The bedside light was hard to read with.

The room was clean, bed comfortable and hot shower.Very quiet.

The property meet my expectations.Bus stop approx. 250 metre four bus routes 140 142 143 and 150.Approximately 350 metres small shopping centre including Liquorland, IGA, Newsagent,Fish and Chips and 24/7 MacDonalds.
