Location is great! Close to everything. We stayed during Cyclone Jasper and felt very safe in the building due to it being high rise and secure. Breakfast was great every morning (pancakes too on Tuesdays). Lots of places to hangout and chill (especially when we couldn't go out during the cyclone). Wifi was strong all the time. Kitchen and bathrooms very clean. Aircon/fans in the room were great.

Few ants/bugs in the female level 1 bathrooms. Pillows were quite flat which were uncomfortable to sleep on.

Staff as always is my measuring stick on how good or bad is a place. Miguel & Jose, front desk staff, were amazing!!! They were sooo friendly, warm and always ready to offer help when needed!!! Miguel checked me in and carried my luggages up those steps to my room!!! Jose woke up early just to help me with bringing down my luggages when I checked out!! I miss them!!! The location is smack dab in the middle of CBD with a nice island garden outside of it!!! My room was quite private in that there’s a privacy wall that separates both bunk beds and the room was huge for 4 people!!! Love the humongous kitchen, dining area, outside patio, and hallway chilling nooks.

Dining room & shower stalls need to have a weekly deep cleaning, especially their floors and also walls for the showers!!

another amazing week at the village in Cairns. Having stayed here before multiple times, the main reason I come back is the staff and how friendly and helpful they are. I specifically want to shout out two people Ash and Tash who are the most friendliest and helpful people I have ever met through my travels. They are both always seen helping guest with tours around the hostel, and helping with luggage up to there rooms, something that is hardly ever seen in hostels. On more than one occasion I have seen Ash go above and beyond for guest. These two are real superstars and a real asset to the Village team. They are both always first to say hello and I have even seen them helping guests on their days off, which shows they really do care about people. I will truly miss these two as I head back to Sydney, but they have both given me another reason to come back to the Village and can’t wait to be there Guest again soon!

Staff was friendly and hospitable; due to a last minute change in plans we booked two times at the Village--Johnny at front desk set us up so we wouldn't have to switch rooms. The common areas are very lively and well-stocked. There's an industrial-sized kitchen and a communal fridge which was nice if we had leftovers or wanted coffee in the morning. Location is incredible; steps away from most major dive shops and restaurants.

The bed was comfier than most hostels, but if you're looking for a luxury room experience, this is not that. This is good for travellers on a budget who want to meet other travellers.

Perfect location right next to the lagoon, bars, groceries, and the night market. Comfortable room and beds. Showers were great. The kitchen is huge and there's a nice, large balcony to hangout on. AC turns off automatically every few hours to conserve electricity.

There was a false fire alarm that went off at 2am and we never got a notification afterwards as to what happened. The Goki app works great once you get it set up, but the staff has to create a profile for your reservation first. They created mine an hour after I had told them we'd arrive. Luckily our flight was delayed and we only ended up waiting around for about 15 minutes, as no one was sitting at the desk. The listing says reception closes at 7pm, but it's really midnight and communication on this was poor. It's a party hostel, so expect noise.

I loved how modern the entire place was. The place itself felt pretty brand new. My favourite thing had to be the door entry and using the app. Just added to the entire vibe of the place. Also the Manager there who helped me out absolutely loved her. She basically saved my life & having to go through an extremely rough time with the issues I shouldn't of had to face at the start of my booking. Please protect her at all costs. God bless her. ❤️

The staff member mike who was trying to charge me for a cancelled booking over $200 from 1year ago on top of my 3day stay that was only $120. The lack of empathy from the staff member after knowing i did not stay at the previous place along with him almost refusing to allow my stay there after taking my payment. Basically almost destroyed my first ever stay and experience with the village.

The whole hostel is very clean, the rooms are accessed via the Goki app which is very secure and good for anyone wanting a safer hostel experience. The app is also used to send out notifications to guests to keep them up to date on events and activities hosted by the hostel. Single private rooms are basic but come with air con, power points and a place to hang your cloths. They're located right in the centre of town, walking distance to many great cafe's and restaurants, bars, clubs and car hire companies. Also very close to the lagoon. Staff are super friendly and very helpful.

The walls are very thin between rooms, be prepared to get intimate with your neighbours...

The Village in Cairns has been the best from start to finish. The rooms are clean, and everyone here is so friendly. After staying in some horrific hostels in my time in Australia it’s refreshing to come here and have a lovely stay. The kitchen is lovely and the balcony is amazing to have breakfast on. However there are two absolute superstars working here Ash and Tash from Canada are the best two people I have met, they have been a shoulder to vent on and friends to laugh with. these two have made my stay here amazing from helping me with my room to any issues, to listening to my problems they have been there, they go above and beyond! They are a real asset to the Village and I cannot wait to see them again when I come back!

Cleanest Hostel I’ve stayed in. Big enough kitchen that never closes so great for workers. Towels included nice touch. Air con strong. Detachable shower heads in ladies and big showers. Common area balcony nice.

Every morning without fail staff are hoovering outside the rooms at 8am. When you’re staying there to work and finishing late this isn’t ideal so it would be good if staff considered adjusting cleaning hours! The social events stated didn’t exist which was a shame. All water from taps is warm or boiling so can’t fill water bottles for drinking water. If you don’t have your phone on you, you will get locked out! Walls are thin so noise travels from other guests. We left just before they increased there prices and new ownership.
