Our stay at this lovely and charming hotel was made exceptional by the attention that was given to us by Marc and his capable team. Being greeted by a relaxing cup of tea in the morning room after a long, busy day was just the perfect beginning to our stay. The food was amazing with the quality of the local Tassie produce shining through, and the views - be it from our room or the gorgeous conservatory were simply stunning. The breakfast was included in the room cost and we appreciated the array of delicious options. The turn-down service was a special touch and my husband and I felt pampered and relaxed during our entire stay. A special mention of Marc - he went the extra mile with our requests and made us feel special. We wouldn't hesitate to come back here - especially because of the care extended to us.

Can't say anything that we didn't like or enjoy. This is a truly exceptional hotel with wonderful service.

This hotel is a little hidden gem in the city of Hobart. It has a fusion mix of modern interior with the history of the original home. Upon driving into the driveway you feel like you have been taken to the countryside with beautiful gardens surrounding the driveway. Staff are expectational and very friendly, wanting to go beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible. You are greeted at the door by Marc the General Manager when you arrive at the hotel personally for your check-in and he make you feel so welcomed during your stay. During your stay, you are also allowed to wander between the common shared rooms on the lower levels of the hotel which is filled with lots of arts that emphasis the architecture of the home. I wished my stay was longer at the hotel and will definitely be coming back.

The only minor thing that was a bit of an inconvenience was that we were placed in a higher floor which made carrying our bags and luggage a bit difficult from the room after check out. As there is only stairs and no lifts as that is part of original design of the home. But hotel staff does help with bringing your bags to your room during check in. So keep in mind if you have larger luggage that if placed in a higher room there are stairs to consider.

The property takes you back in time but with all the comfort and detail you would expect from a beautiful luxury accommodation. The room, the garden surrounds were immaculate and so beautiful! The staff was very attentive and made you feel very welcome. I also liked the complimentary afternoon tea/snacks and generous breakfast provisions for guests. The chef menu of 4 courses at the restaurant was delicious and great value! Loved the attention to detail with the turn down service complete with tea and chocolates. Felt truly pampered and special staying here!

Everything was perfect, there was nothing I didn't like.

The breakfast was exceptional, the location was so convenient and close to Hobart city. The staff were excellent and Marc was wonderful, he made us so welcome, nothing was a problem. We loved our room with the view of gorgeous Mt Wellington. My wife was born in Hobart and hadn’t been back in 36 years, she loved Islington Hotel. We will definitely stay there on our next trip.

we stayed here from 16/09/22 to 21/09/22 for my birthday. Upon arrival, they have welcomed us with desserts and birthday note. They also provide all day complimentary barista style coffee or tea, cookies, in room daily desserts and tea at night. The booking comes with free breakfast with an amazing coffee :) The staff are very friendly and nice that they make us take away coffee and croissant on days that we need to leave early and cannot have breakfast. Also, the room is very tidy and comfortable. I have the best view waking up overlooking mt wellington!

Everything was fabulous except for internal temperature and whilst I feel I’m probably nitpicking in the “don’t like” section about this below my comments are meant with the very best of constructive motivation. we definitely plan on staying at the Islington again when we return to Tasmania in February 2023.

The shared areas were too cool for my liking. I did some computer work in the library with the doors shut. Even with the fire going it was cold. The dining room is a beautiful conservatory with lots of glass. Great on winter days but loses a lot of heat at night. Again, with fire on in evening, still too cool. We saw another couple in the dining area who were a bit older than us at dinner one night. The gentleman had taken off his dinner jacket for his wife to put on her lap. The bedroom air conditioner was easy to program at the wall console but on heat at 30 degrees and full fan, while the room did warm up, it was still uncomfortable to not have a jumper on top. Room temperature was ok when in bed.

The room. The gardens. The staff and service. The fresh baked food, coffee or tea and fresh fruit available every day. Indoor and outdoor seating areas. On site secure parking. Heritage and complimentary architectural elements. Proximity to just about everything. A great couples retreat. our room had a great view of Mt Wellington.

Our stay was too short. Some minor moments we could hear the kitchen around 6-7pm from our room.

We had two nights as a couple celebrating the end of the Three Capes walk and our wedding anniversary. Beds, bathroom, views etc were luxurious after being off grid for a few days. The service was fabulous and felt intimate. It was so quiet, and the gardens were beautiful. The restaurant was great, we had dinner and breakfast in and it was well presented and delicious. Thoroughly recommend!

nothing really to complain about!

Great location with awesome views. Staff were lovely. Liked the ambience of the waiting rooms when we were checking in. Welcome cheese platter was a nice touch.

Felt like the quality of the breakfast menu could be improved. Dinner restaurant was closed during my time of stay. Limited parking spots for drivers.

The islington is a beautiful property and the staff were very attentive and accommodating. We were able to make use of the library and other spaces in the hotel outside of our room during our stay. The room we stayed in opened onto the garden and was very spacious and the beds very comfortable. The continental breakfast each morning was delicious and the daily "treats" in the room were greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately there was a problem with the hot water the first night/next morning. Once this issue was brought to the attention of staff it was attended to and addressed (apparently there was a problem with one of the boilers). We would have loved to have dined at the hotel but our 3 night stay coincided with the 3 nights the restaurant was not open. Having said that, we were able to use the facility to eat in at the hotel on one night and staff recommendations for alternative dining options were greatly appreciated. Also, if you are heading to the airport at peak hour be prepared for a hefty Uber fare and a delay in getting a driver - next time we would look into booking a taxi the night before.
