Great value for money, quiet yet central location, quirky decoration, tea, coffee and light refreshments available free at all hours, not just breakfast.
Our room had a constant smell of cigarette smoke, probably as a result of smokers in the backyard. The hot water ran out after 2 showers on our floor.

The B&B is a beautiful older building in a central location with a great view of Mt Wellington at the back door. John is a fantastic host, providing everything you could possibly need to make your stay a treat. There are nice little touches around the walls - prints, paintings, statues and masks - which make the gallery a gallery. Polished timber floors and colourful rugs, and stone and brick walls keep away the winter cold, but if it were not so, there is adequate heating to keep you cosy and warm. Worth a second or third visit 😊

The room was very comfortable and clean. The common areas were very beautiful and very very interesting. host has travelled a lot and has collected many artifacts and has put up as display there. kitchen was very good with fruits and cookies kept there all the time for your snacking. breakfast was good as well. Was really impressed by the host. Extremely friendly man. Location was very central and hence very convenient.
We stayed one night in a room with ensuite and another night where we had to use common baths. Ensuite really needs upgrade it is very dated. Common toilets and baths didnt have soap dispenser beside wash basins (only one had). We had to carry wet soap back from toilet back to the room. That was bit annoying.

We absolutely loved staying here. Gorgeous old building and the room was very cosy. It reminded my sister and I of staying at our aunt’s thatch cottage in England. Made us both very nostalgic. Nice and quiet place, a little sound from passing traffic but nothing extreme, comfy beds, cute décor, John was lovely and very personable. We didn’t use kitchen amenities but there were plenty and we were offered plums off John’s tree. Bathrooms were extremely clean. Easy to walk to the wharfs and the CBD area. Would definitely stay again.
Nothing we didn’t like! We went to a hostel close by for the rest of our trip and wishes we could have gone back to Edinburgh B&B.

Brilliant location, outstanding value for money. John was very accommodating. Casual and friendly. Perfect place from which to explore Hobart and surrounds. The Family Room with private bathroom was perfect for our family of 5. Highly recommend if you are looking for a place to stay within easy walking distance of the city, docks, Salamanca, Battery Point et cetera and want to avoid big-hotel price tags.
Because it's an old house it is a bit noisy at night so if you're a light sleeper bring some ear plugs.

Edinburgh Gallery Bed & Breakfast is a lovely and cosy home away from home. The host John was welcoming and provided a breakfast (and snacks throughout the day) with an wonderful choice of Spanish folk music. The rooms and halls are full an intriguingly eclectic mix of art, masks, carvings and much more. The location is just outside the CBD, public transport close by. Built in 1909, the building was used as a maternity hospital. My family loved this accommodation and we’d return in a heartbeat.

Quirky but tasteful decor, in the style of English BnBs. Comfy beds, clean amenities, dining room for guest use - mainly breakfast but we did notice people bringing in fish n chips one evening. Friendly host. Easily walkable to at least 2 eating establishments. The Duke pub was very pleasant for our first evening meal with tasteful jazz music and nice wood fired pizza and other fare. We had a beautiful clear morning and could see Mt Wellington through our bedroom window. The breakfast offerings were good with cereals, toast, coffee, tea. Would stay here again.
Be aware there are stairs to many (most) bedrooms so if you have elderly or less ambulant people that may pose a problem especially from the car parking out the back. We booked the self contained room with bathroom. It had been modernised however could do with some hand rails near the bath/shower entry as it is an over-bath style shower. High to step out of in particular. Might be problematic for some less agile people. There are other easier access shared facilities on that floor so could use those but maybe the point is to be able to safely use your own bathroom. The location is on a busy intersection so be aware there will be street noise. Did not bother us. Too tired.

I botched the booking and our room didn't have an ensuite but the bathrooms upstairs were modern and clean. The place had character and showed the owners personality and collections in its decoration, swap books, magazines and plentiful breakfast options, fruit bowl and drinks freely available. Was an easy walk to town and other tourist attractions - also on bus routes, I personally prefer such places to the modern hotels not necessarily because of prices but more relaxed environment.
Not really any complaints as was very reasonable price , accessible and comfortable. Stairs to some rooms would cause hassles for people with disabilities.

Lovely, clean, comfortable accommodation with a very historical vibe. Breakfast was always available, cereals, breads, spreads, yoghurt, and fruit. Cookies are always available. Bathrooms were modern, clean, and hot hot water. Very private. John is a gracious host. The location is superb. We had no problem with noise, and we were ground level facing the main road.
We couldn't get the TV to turn on, but we were too busy sight seeing to want it anyway.

The building, which is somebodies everyday home is beautiful. I loved the artefacts around the house to look at. Breakfast was excellent. Help yourself, and clean up after yourself. John supplied everything. Fridge with all the necessities. Fresh fruit daily, the papers. Was like being at home. Loved it.
The bathroom was cold. The wind blew through the gaps. But that's my only negative comment. It's an old building. It's to be expected.
