Breakfast was 'continental' but better than most with bread provided, orange juice and a litre of fresh milk, much better than most places that just leave you little UHT pods and no bread. The location is perfect if you want a city retreat with trams about 50 metres away in Flemington Road, or 150 metres in Elizabeth Street. Further, if you require parking there are enough spaces (unallocated) for every room and sensibly priced with a refundable $10 deposit.
There was nothing to note which would have made our stay any more comfortable. The Arden is not a five star establishment nor was it made out to be, it was however very clean, comfortable and quiet.

I liked the fact that the continental breakfast supplied meant a lazy morning instead of a rush to get out and fed. In the evening we asked a staff member to recommend a pizza place and his recommendation was absolutely spot on - Pizza55 provided one of the best pizzas we had ever had.
There is a wonderful window seat where we could sit and read, eat breakfast etc but it’s glassed floor to ceiling so anybody walking by could see us … a net curtain around the window seat at waist height would have made it a little cosier

the supply of breakfast was good cornflakes , bread for toast and a good choice of honey , jams , vegimite & marmalades ample milk for tea & coffee .
i could hear the next room shower being used probably expected for an older property .. i wasnt keen on the ' stairs only ' access to the upper level rooms not good for guests with knee or back issues like i have i will be requesting a lower level room next time ( if available )

My daughter stayed 10 nights during uni placement at Royal Women's Hospital. The Arden was a very short walk to both the hospital and tram stop into town. Reception couldn't have been more helpful, and it was a comfort to know my daughter could go to them for assistance in her first long-term city visit. She needed to add an extra night during the busy Australian Open period, but staff were very helpful in securing a place and even juggled bookings so she didn't need to swap rooms. The room decor may be a little dated, but that wasn't really important considering the pluses - cleanliness, the available facilities and appliances, helpful staff, and especially the location.

I put in the special request box asking if there were stairs as I had day surgery I was down in Melbourne for, and they were very accommodating and for a small extra charge my room was easily upgraded from a 1st floor room to a ground floor.
The breakfast didn't have as much variety as I thought it would, but it was still much appreciated and good to have something easy to eat in the morning. You don't need (and shouldn't expect) a 5 star breakfast from a motel, and it really didn't detract from the experience.

I loved EVERYTHING, I was pleasantly surprised how lovely the room was - neat, clean, no need to hunt for remotes , and such a cosy and cute vibe ( which I love ) The staff were Soo welcoming and helpful. I loved the clarity of knowing exactly what I was to pay ( unlike many motels that have all these hidden extra costs not mentioned until last minute ) and the affordability. I appreciated a sign up of what was expected re towels and water use etc ( sign in room ) as well as the signs pointing me to which set of stairs to take for my room number, both of which were helpful. I loved the convenience of the location being just up the road from Vic market and central Melbourne. Frankly, over-all, it deserves better than 3 stars, with rooms having keycard entry/lock, aircon/heating, flatscreen tv, free wifi, and breakfast ingredients ( cereal + bread ) already set up for you to assemble , and even a bath instead of just a shower, as well as the convenient location, and friendly staff, this motel deserves atleast 4 stars!!! I definitely recommend staying here if you can, and plan to stay again myself.
The only two issues are with no ramps or lifts, it's unfortunately not an option for those needing wheelchair accessible accommodation or those with leg impairment, too many stairs could prove too much of a challenge. And, that the toilet door in my room ( unsure if same in all rooms ) , needs to be changed to some kind of rolling/sliding/folding door, because it isn't that practical in a cosy bathroom setting - door kept going back towards me, and if I shut it, then when I get up, I had to do a weird maneuver to get door past me to get out, and since door can't push out far instead, definitely think investing in some kind of folding/sliding/rolling door, would be helpful no end for bathroom use.

The Arden motel was in a good location, a short walk and commute from tram stops and the place my friend and I were going to during our stay. The motel has helpful staff greeting you at the door to check in and out. The room provided a secure place to stay the night for me and my guest. We loved the small enclosed balcony space too.
The bathroom space was a bit smaller than expected, our room was good for me and my guest and perhaps another person. The air con had a bit of a musty smell to it but we opened the balcony windows to accommodate that.

Location was great, very close to the town centre (walking distance) but also only 10 mins walk to Victoria markets and the free tram into the city heart. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was excellent value for the price, relative to others we have stayed in the same price range. Breakfast was included, simple but perfect for us (cereal, toast, juice and coffee in the daily-serviced room). The motel has parking, and a coin-operated washing machine and dryer. Large room, comfy beds and a sun-room with a breakfast table. Will stay here next time!
Nothing.

The breakfast provided was adequate. Although we only used the milk. We had a fasting appointment at the hospital. The staff allowed us to check out but leave our car secure while we were at our doctors appointment. Thank you thank you.
I would have preferred a ground floor but didn’t realise the building was 2 levels. Not the staff fault, mine for not checking.
