Staff were really helpful, both prior to arrival in answering questions and while there. The location was great, a 25 minute walk, or free tram ride and 15 minute walk, from Southern Cross Station (where airport bus drops you off). Lots of eateries in the area, a couple of 7/11 shops very close and a Woolworth supermarket within short walking distance. For culture vultures, the Melbourne Museum is a 10 minute walk, and the city centre/Central Business District is just 15 minutes away. The studio apartment was spotlessly clean, although it was a bit odd that the staff did not make the bed each day. Fresh towels and toiletries were regularly replenished. The kitchen had a hob, microwave, fridge, toaster and kettle. There was a good sized TV with local channels. The price was good.

We were in a room at the end of the corridor, backing a very very quiet lane. Whilst the location is the VERY best, to have the bonus of a very quiet and dark room was pure bliss. I mislaid my jewellery (well, really, I left it on the side table!) and Annie in reception followed this up and was back to me with a positive result in less than half an hour! The location is really convenient to the city, and right on Lygon Street in the heart of the eateries. A wonderful, happy place. Staff were very very good, welcoming and warm. This is my second stay here, and will be my go to any time I am in Melbourne! THANK you Carlton Lygon Lodge. Another wonderful stay.

I have no criticism to offer, and nothing I would want improved.

While our room on level 1 was simple it was all we required - clean, quiet, comfortable and a fantastic bathroom - great water temperature. The location was great for us as we relived our younger lives in Melbourne. Oh the streets we rewalked. Now our legs are tired.

The TV was out of action but really we did not need it and the staff are now aware of it. Plus I wonder if the air conditioner filter needs a clean. It was lovely waking up to the cooing of pigeons. We will stay there again when visiting family members.

I've stayed here before and the last time was not so great, as they overcharged me and then the staff member was difficult about refunding me, but I decided to come again for the location and was pleased that the staff were very friendly and helpful this time. It's not a fancy place, but has everything you need, including a kitchenette, and was good value for the price. The room was spacious and the bathroom and sheets and all were fine. The location is great with restaurants and gelato shops everywhere, and Woollies just down the road.

Location was fabulous - close to a variety of great eating places and easy walking distance to trams and CBD. Hotel is an older building but was kept very clean and presentable. Comfortable bed and crisp clean sheets and towels. Fresh linen, soap, tea and coffee whenever we wanted it. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Quiet room away from the street noise with a sliding glass door opening onto a small private balcony. I liked being able to open the door for fresh air as you can't do this in many modern hotel rooms. Heat pump worked well. Room was smallish but completely adequate for 2 people. There was a small table and 2 chairs, large desk and a 2 seater sofa as well as double bed and kitchenette with fridge - everything you need.

Nothing to complain about really. Was completely adequate for our week stay.

Excellent location at Lygon street, close to good eating, and near my work destination at Melbourne Connect. Clean and spacious room, and very friendly staff.

The balcony was surrounded by heat pumps on each side, and the view from my balcony was next building. One of the heat pumps was especially noisy at night.

Great location in busy Lygon Street. Had front suite so got expected noise from street and bars. Very clean basically equipped room with comfortable bed. Microwave and stove top, good shower, also laundry room in basement.

Only one teaspoon and one saucepan with holes (part of steamer set)- but sure this would have been improved if mentioned at reception.

Great location, right in the heart of Lygon st. The room was lovely and clean with a small balcony, kitchenette, and quite the luxurious and spacious bathroom, all with parking and a fairly reasonable price.

The telly was rather glitchy with what it would and wouldn't show, and a lounge chair or seat would have been nice.

I read reviews in hope of finding someone genuine, and if they're a bit like me, that's always reassuring. I'm not remotely snobby, but Ive been surprised to learn that I do have high expectations when it comes to my hosts manners and general demeanor. We booked at Carlton Lygon Lodge a few days before our honeymoon. After looking at all the fancy places I got tired of reading poor reviews posted by far more wealthy and respectable-looking types, so I went with a family friends recommendation and booked here. I'm really glad that I did. For me and my wife, the most important thing was having the space to enjoy a stress free time with each other, and an friendly, relaxed person to check us in and out.. I was very glad to find that here ....despite checking in at 11.30pm. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable - yes, as in reviews I read, the bathrooms aren't super modern, but they were well maintained, clean, and functional, so no complaints. The bed was comfortable and I was happy to find we had a basic kitchen and a small balcony - it had no view, but it was a private space outdoors, and I enjoyed it. The other thing worth mentioning is that we we're late checking out, thinking we had until 11am, but the lady was really nice about it and despite expecting to pay a late check out fee, the issue was never raised - this was a small thing, but after all the stress of the wedding, we both appreciated that. To sum up, we both really enjoyed our honeymoon here. We are modest, and down to earth people, who were looking for a real hotel - friendly, relaxed, and genuine staff and a comfortable space to be together and relax. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Carlton Lygon Lodge to anyone who's looking for the same. Thanks very much 👍

I didn't like waking up to the cleaning lady knocking, but I understand she had her job to do and she didn't make me feel like I had just ruined her day, so many thanks to her.

The apartment is clean. The location is great. It has almost everything nearby. There is a park with playground for kids nearby. Perfect for me whose traveling with toddler. The kitchen is also almost complete. They got electric stove, microwave, electric kettle, kitchen utensil, plates, bowls, pans. I really enjoy my time here.

The cleaning service come around 3-3.30ish pm. Quite late for me.
