$6 parking was a freat bonus. Keep in mind turn left down Swanton Street to get to it. The street is one way, and my gps tried to make me go up it. The hotel is quirky and so creative. Exactly as described and shown. Free goodie bag and free mini bar. What a bonus! All the toiletries that are eco-friendly are supplied, and you can ask for extras like razor ect of needed. Stayed here and got an Uber to Rod Laver arena and back, which was quick and $12. There is a restaurant and bar on sight, Jam factory, food and shopping at your door. Can't wait to stay again, all staff were also really friendly.

I had lived in the neighborhood of South Yarra for 2 years, hence this is my favorite semi-suburb of Melbourne. The hotel is surrounded by excellent shops, restaurants, and some must-see venues such as the Prahan Market. I also appreciate the room I stayed in. It is very compact and quiet. The free mini bar and snacks were just amazing and more than I could finish before departure. Another extra benefit is the free laundry in the basement. I did enjoy washing my clothes and drying them before checking out and leaving all refreshed.

The Ovolo is just a very cool place to be. I love music and 70’s aesthetic, both intertwined so tastefully into the decor and vibe of the hotel. I was in one of the rock star suits, and I was very pleased to be greeted by a cool portrait of the GOAT John Lennon. A record player in the corner of the room connected to BT speaker already had the ‘Get back’ record ready to play!

My only concern, and I emphasise ‘only’ was that I think the hotel may have been slightly understaffed. I understand it’s the depths of winter, but I needed a comb brought up to my room, and it took around 40 mins, I had to call a second time. But you know, I wasn’t in a mad rush, so it was fine. The staff were all so lovely though, sometimes you just get stuck behind the eight ball a bit and it’s no one’s fault really. I trust that it was probably out of character, as they all had an exceptionally professional demeanour and were very polite and pleasant to deal with :)

Nice location, very friendly staff, super clean and tidy room. Free room bar. Not far from public transportation (5 mins walking), a few restaurants around or restaurant downstairs as a part of hotel. I appreciated how clean hotel room was.

I didn't like the breakfast. I would expect something much better in 4star hotel, wider range of choices. There were only 3 options of free breakfast (if I knew it, I would rather book the hotel room without breakfast): egg with 2 toasts and butter, muesli with yogurt and small pieces of fruit, 1 toast with avocado on it + cold or hot drink. I stayed for 6 nights, it was quite boring after 3 days to eat the same food + the portion was not big enough (I am not fat, but I prefer to eat more in the morning than in the evening). The service during breakfast was very pleasant, but I didn't like poor choice and portion of breakfast. I think it didn't meet the standard of 4-star hotels.

Terrific location. Very fairly priced. Close to inexpensive parking and public transport into center city and sports facilities. Loved the generosity in terms of bag of goodies in the room and quality sheets, pillows etc. and comfortable beds.

I am really old(ish) and had difficulty finding light switches, plugs etc as everything is black or painted black with tiny blue location markers. Same applies to the tap hot/cold settings that were impossible to see before I jumped into a freezing cold rain shower! Really examples,of bad design, not coolness.

I had a fantastic stay. I had to be in Melbourne for work but needed to travel on the weekend so made a fun choice to book this hotel. The room was so quirky and sensational. Best night's sleep I have had in a long time and even the album that was in my room was the best of the year of my birth!!! Breakfast was delicious too. I will be back for sure likely with a group of girlfriends

The restaurant was closed when I arrived and there was no room service after a certain time on a Sunday night. Uber eats was a good gap filler though.

I couldn't wait till the end of this trip to do a review so I'm doing it mid trip! The Ovolo is STUNNING. The room design is petite and sooooooo frenchy! Everything was immaculately clean, well designed and considered. The design feels like a modern, French retro. An abundance of power outlets , lighting options, a gorgeous, clean bathroom and a FREE mini bar and loot bag were a wonderful surprise. The staff were excellent and nothing was a problem! The Ovolo location is spot on within walking distance to everything. Will definitely be staying here again xMike

The location was perfect filled with so many shops and cafes. We didn’t get the breakfast included but there was so much around the location that there was no need. The lolly bar was the coolest feature never seen this before in a hotel and it made the stay so fun.

The mini bar could have had a better range of drinks in the mini fridge as my partner didn’t drink wine or beer. The rooms did get a little loud in the morning could have been more sound proofed.

The location of the hotel was excellent for me as I travelled by train to South Yarra, then later went by tram to a meeting in Toorak. The room was cosy and the bed was comfortable. There was a nice little bathroom, and I was told that I could have a drink from the bar fridge in my room for free. The hotel decor is modern, inspired by literature, art and films. There is a restaurant, which was mainly vegan. I am not vegan but the dinner was nice. Although I was there in winter, the room was not cold.

I had to pay $100 bond with my room fee, although this was refunded later. Otherwise I can't think of anything negative.

Beds were amazing. Couldn’t use the included breaky due to work hours, so they got me a takeaway bag organised which was kind. The freebies were a nice touch. Daily housekeeping.

Rooms were TINY. Fine for a solo traveller but wouldn’t return as a couple due to size of room. Disappointed breaky didn’t start until 7am. Rooms facing Toorak Road were incredibly noisy.
