Apartment is one of 2 within a house but each is completely private from the owners. Large room with sitting area. Large bathroom with washing machine. Chris gave a great breakfast and was very welcoming. The suites are quiet with no traffic noise and lots of bird sounds - lovely country stay. The property is also dog friendly!

The suites are more a B&B than an apartment as they contain a kitchenette not a full kitchen but there was a BBQ and microwave plus full fridge so we were able to cook for ourselves. The owners have 3 lovely border collie dogs which I enjoyed patting and Chris would lock them away if someone didn't like dogs.

The hosts were fabulous. After only one weekend I felt that Chris and Ian were old friends. The room was huge and well appointed. Nice touches were included such as a few chockies for us to eat and a small carton of milk for tea and coffee which was much appreciated. Breakfast was amazing. Appreciated the back entrance to our room which could allow us to come and go discretely if we wished. The bed was king sized which I appreciated. We really loved our stay here and would not hesitate to come back.

Absolutely nothing. Everything was perfect. They do have dogs - but they were beautiful and super friendly. One loved tummy rubs...!!. Really I couldn't fault anything.

We are repeat customers at Barkly Suites. Chris and Ian are wonderful hosts; they are just the right amounts of friendly, welcoming and helpful. The cooked to order breakfast each morning is delicious and generous. The apartments (we have stayed in both units) are absolutely huge and include A/C, a kitchenette, lounge area, bedroom and bathroom as well as an outdoor BBQ area. The units are spotlessly clean, well maintained and everything you need is included. Comfortable beds (firm mattresses) made with quality pressed linens. Location is great. An easy walk (approx 10 minutes) into Rutherglen Main Street to the excellent restaurants and cafes. We will always choose Barkly Suites when staying in Rutherglen.

The breakfast was wonderful. Everything provided from yoghurt, fresh fruit, to cooked eggs, tomatoes etc was so tasty. The host and hostess are easy to engage with, both being very friendly and accomodating. Our rooms were very clean, roomy and comfortable. The large garden is magnificent. We wanted for nothing. This was our second stay as we like it so much and we will return again in the future. Our border collie puppy enjoyed running and playing with the owners 3 border collies. The puppy had a fantastic visit!

The apartment was incredibly large and very nicely appointed. The rooms were a lot more spacious than we were expecting and really comfortable. Breakfast was fabulous and Chris and Ian’s friendly conversation was warm and welcoming. Really liked the overall layout with the apartment and breakfast room really private and a nice outdoor area where you can enjoy the breeze in the afternoon and the view over the gardens. Beautiful property. Thanks for an enjoyable stay!

Absolutely loved this accommodation. The apartment was spacious and luxurious and it had it's own kitchen. The bathroom was huge with both a bath and a shower. The surrounding gardens were absolutely beautiful, I really appreciated the garden as I no longer have one of my own. It was easy to relax here as it is private and quiet. The hosts, Chris and Ian were lovely and knew how to cook a great breakfast. Everything was perfect about our stay, can't wait to return.

The one bedroom apartment was beautifully set out, rooms were very spacious, exceptionally clean and beyond expectations for holiday accomodation. Doors open from lounge area to outside patio overlooking lush gardens. The establishment is maintained to a high standard. Host was friendly and breakfast delicious.

The bedside lights were not quite bright enough.

We were amazed at the luxuriousness of the apartment! The rooms were huge, including the bathroom. There was a small covered area outside the living area, BBQ available, with views across the fields. The property was directly behind the Gold Battery, one of the things to see while in Rutherglen. The beautifully laid out surrounding gardens were extensive, offering a quite place to wander. The accommodation included a cooked breakfast, a real treat. Our hosts were friendly and chatty, giving insights into the place and the town. A beautiful place to stay, not far from the main street in town, and just down the road from the “Wine bottle”, the water tower that has been artistically added to to resemble a wine bottle.

Loved everything!

The location was central to everywhere we wanted to visit. The apartment was warm on arrival which was so inviting. There was a bath to relax in after a tough day of wine tasting. We could self cater if we wanted and washing up was made easy with a dishwasher nearby. We didn’t hear any traffic and very little noise from other guests. The bed was excellent and comfortable, and everything was clean. The hosts looked after all our needs and we even have some new cuttings for our garden. PS, they are still alive.

Absolute delight. Great hosts, large & well furnished one bedroom apartment, very peaceful quiet location. Excellent hot breakfast cooked on an individual basis. Everything first class and professional. Highly recommended.
