The hotel is in the centre of Vienna, 3 minutes from Stefansdom, 4 minutes from Wiener Staatsoper, everything (like dozens of restaurants and Konditorei) is in walking distance. Wonderful staff at the reception. Parking is not a problem, the garage is nearby and covered and the entry of it is just in front of the hotel! We got an upgrade we appreciate it a lot, the business room was spacious with a sofa and small table with chairs. Wonderful! Our room was on the first floor, sound proof windows guaranteed a perfect sleep. The bed was comfortable. There were two washbasins for two people in the spacious bathroom and a completely separate toilett. Parquet on the floor, nice curtains. Very classic and elegant, but not like for old people. The whole thing is fresh and new. Breakfast costs 25 EUR / person but worth it, this was great and wide choice of everything (caviar for example which I have not seen in hotels for years). Try the freshmade pancake. I suggest the hotel for those who really want to feel the ambit and ethos of Kulturstadt Vienna.

Absolutely nothing.

The whole experience from checking in. The air conditioning was already on when we entered our room and as it was 30 degrees plus on the day was appreciated. Our suitcases were taken to our room for us. A taxi was booked and waiting for us in the morning to take us to the airport. Bar open till late.

The seating in the bar is all low sofas and maybe put some other seating in as well.

A very spacious room with a wonderful view of one of the most beautiful squares in Vienna's historic center. The interiors are a bit dated and minimal, but the room maintains that historic Viennese charm.

The location is perfect! Close to one of the best pastry shops in the city, just steps from the contemporary art Albertina Museum, practically in the center of Vienna. An excellent starting point for walks in any direction.

Excellent, central location, close to sights, transport hubs and shopping. Large rooms, with parquet flooring and solid furniture. Relatively new, firm-ish, memory(?)-foam bedding - possibly my best experience with hotel foam beds! Well appointed bathrooms. V good breakfast, with fine variety of central-European choices. It's important I think to know what you're getting here. Some sources report that this is a 5* hotel ,and so some might think that they're going to get the international-level 5* experience, with eg spas, gyms, fawning flunkeys, etc. This hotel is more of an old-fashioned, upmarket 4* perhaps.

Room windows are difficult to open & close - stiff handles/mechanisms. Windows whistle in strong winds. Absurdly bright bathroom lighting; poor bathroom ventilation. Period room double-doors are great, but presumably make the installation of electronic room keys difficult (there aren't any). No kettle in room, though perhaps would be available on request(?) Corridors might benefit from some redecoration; carpets might benefit from more frequent vacuuming. Some of the more esoteric breakfast options could be labelled, though the staff are helpful and would presumably be able to identify items if asked! Also, the publicity photos on this website are definitely misleading/dated re breakfast choices.

Hotel Ambasador is ‘old-fashioned’ in the best possible way. Great location, friendly staff, excellent breakfast, impeccably clean. I would especially like to commend Rima from the reception for her warm smile and kindness, as well as Mr. B (I don’t know his last name), the porter, also very kind and helpful.

Although the bathroom has been fully renovated, the design of the shower cabin causes water to splash and flood half of the bathroom, making the floor slippery. This isn’t a complaint about the hotel, but rather about the architects. I believe something should be done to address this issue.

Good location with clean and comfortable rooms. Staff mostly friendly and helpful, would stay again.

An alarm went off at 6am due to an ‘electrical fault’. When we called to reception there was no answer. Also, at check in, we’d requested a quiet room on a high floor away from the lift. Initially they allocated a room on the first floor literally off the hotel bar?! When we refused that room, they quickly managed to find another on the 5th floor. There are no kettles in the room on arrival, but the reception will supply one if you need it.

Spectacular view from balconies (yes we had two!), two lounge areas, walk in shower, excellent location for visiting historic sites, opera house, and many churches.

Sadly they only had breakfast, an evening restaurant would have been the icing on the cake. However, there we numerous restaurants within walking distance. The small lift from the 5th Floor in order to get to our apartment was as I said very small and needed multiple inputs in order to activate it. It was also some distance from the main lifts which was an issue for my husband who has mobility issues. Had I known I would not have booked this particular room.

This was our second stay at Hotel Ambassador and it was my preferred option for Taylor Swift concerts. Unfortunately the concerts were cancelled, but we had great time. Hotel provided us with connecting very quiet rooms with balcony on first floor. Spacious, with seating for family time. Rooms are bit dated but that teams with the historical feel. I can understand that it is not for everyone, but we loved it. Everyone was very welcoming and we enjoyed our stay.

Quite expensive parking in the public parking spaces - this is not hotel’s fault though. We also didn’t have breakfast as there are many cheaper and better options with few steps away.

We loved everything about this property. It was clean, fresh and staff were happy to help. The location is excellent and close to all public transport and many local attractions. We were very grateful to receive an upgrade and the view into the square was great, it was a favourite thing to do, watch the world go by. The room was very spacious and exceptionally comfortable. We had double entrance doors to the suite, with a lounge and bedroom, the magnificent chandeliers throughout and the elegant furnishings, we felt like royalty. Thank you

There was nothing we didn’t like.

It’s difficult for me to stay unbiased reviewing this hotel, as Ambassador is my first choice for staying in Vienna for many years. I keep my loyalty to Ambassador, and Ambassador is loyal to me at the same level. This time we’ve got free upgrade to junior suite. The hotel may seem a bit outdated for someone. However, for me this is a true spirit of Vienna, with creaky floors, high wooden doors etc. We really love its location. You’re basically in the heart of Vienna, in its walking area, all nice restaurants are in walking distance: Plachutta, Salm Brau, Mozart and Sacher. You can easily walk to Albertina, St. Stefan and other great places. And if you’re here for shopping, Steffl is right accross the street, as well as many brand shops are within 5-10 minutes walking distance. If you travel by car, perfect underground parking is just under the hotel, and bell boys will happily assist you with your luggage at the parking. I really may seem biased , but this is the hotel you need to try.

Only one AC for two-room suite was not enough. However the heat was enormous
