We were approaching the end of a month long trip around Europe And after spending an afternoon in Ghent we decided to stop at Apollonia as it sounded like it was a lovely countryside location. Perfectly placed for a final day of driving to visit Ostend and Dunkirk. First impressions when we arrived were that it was perfect, and nothing after that disappointed us. The host was really nice, friendly and helpful, our room was amazing and the bed was so comfortable. We had even been left a small bottle of wine and water, and there was a mini bar that had more at a good price. The outside was awesome, mainly because it was surrounded by fields, and the owner had his own animals, two deer, goats, and chickens, these kept me entertained as we love animals, and I felt like a little kid again cooing over their cuteness. There were tables outside to sit at, great for chilling out with a glass of wine and for playing cards. The breakfast was also very good, and not bad for 15 euros. The nearby town of Aalter was worth a visit, but be careful, as the parking seems (as far as we could gather) free for two hours, we stayed 10 minutes to look for a bakery, and when we got back to the car we had a fine for 10 euros (they must have been hiding in a bush). I am sure there must have been some misunderstanding on our part, but we couldn't see a ticket machine anywhere.

Fantastic location just off the motorway. Country side feel with animals on site and surrounding area so perfect for kids. It's a short walk into the town what is full of cafes and resturants. Staff are very friendly, Andy could not of been more helpful. Breakfast was great too. Family room was everything you need with air-conditioning. We will certainly be back.

The only thing was that we had to leave.

Clean and spacious, well appointed and only 20 mins from Bruges, I would highly recommend the stop off especially for cyclists and other keen outdoors people. Our lovely host couldn’t have been more accommodating. We also would recommend going to one of the local restaurants such as Biezemhof as we did got a great night out and laughs with the locals!

Very nice countrystyle B&B, very lovely and helpful host Andy. Decriptions very accurate. Location next to road to Aalter, hence you hear cars at times, yet not in a disturbing way. Playground for children, green areas. Rooms excellently clean, well maintained/ modern. Perfect for short and long stays. For longs stays ensure you get a room with a "side"-window (one room has two a large roof windows only, which is great for fresh air but missing out a view).

All truly as expected for a quite reasonably priced B&B

The property is newly renovated and has been done beautifully. My room was spacious with a super comfortable bed and a clean, well decorated bathroom and fantastic shower. The property is situated just off the E40 but in peaceful countryside. I arrived at 9pm and was greeted by goats, deer and chickens! And there is a fridge containing 25 different Belgian beers as well as a mini bar in the room. Breakfast was excellent. The host was extremely welcoming and friendly.

There is literally nothing I didn’t like!

The property is very big, clean and surrounded by fields with animals. Even if we stayed only one night, we loved it. The bathroom is big and ours had also a small Jacuzzi. Unfortunately we did not have enough time to try it. The room was perfectly warm despite the freezing weather outside.

The property is exactly between Ghent and Bruges, which is good but it also means you need a car to get there.

Small establishment in the country just outside Aalter. Charming couple who could not do enough for you. Well decorated, lovely big bed with quality linen. Honesty bar, nice breakfast if a little pricey. Would certainly recommend and will use next time we are in Aalter.

It was great to have a ground floor room, as I requested. Having a small selection of drinks available was fantastic especially after a long journey. The location is good, just off the motorway, and the parking is secluded and secure. Andy was very welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely like to stay again.

There wasn't really anything not to like. It was exactly as described and what we needed.

Andy made you feel like you were an invited guest in his home. He was very attentive with anything you needed. It was extremely clean and quiet with a country setting but close to a town and major highway for sightseeing the area.

The owners were lovely and really helpful. The location is super convenient and the bed very comfy. There are lots of extra details. It would be a great place to stay with children given the swings and deer in the back garden.

It had a lovely bath, but there was no shower in my room. Booking.com had advertised the price to include breakfast, but breakfast cost extra.
