Beautiful Old Hotel with charm and history. Perfekt location in The City Center.  Very close to the main street with shops, restaurants,  the Metro, the Tram,  Parks and Supermarkets. The Reception was very kind and helpful. We arrived at 2 AM and were upgraded to an antique room which was big but very worn down and smelly. In the Morning I went down to the Reception to ask for the Modern Room we booked from the beginning and they changed it with a smile. Thank you for the water,  nice gesture. The rooms facing the Street are a bit noisy also with the window closed.  We were woken every Morning at 8 AM from the Bells of Sveta Nedelya Church and a terrible Trompet Player/Harmonica player(the same melodies every day!!! ) . .. But that comes with the territory when you are located in the City Center!!!

VERY POOR  CLEANING!!!!! We had to ask for toilet paper,  cleaning,  clean cups and glasses   4 times during our 7 night stay at the Hotel.  This was very disappointing considering it is a 5 star Hotel!!  We had to ask them twice to clean the wooden floors because of dust balls rolling around. The floor was swept not vacuumed or washed. My allergies towards dust went completely crazy!!!  Very poor cleaning of the bathroom.  I could wipe dust, hair and old black dirt of the Bathroom floor,  Sink and Bathtub. So disgusting!!! There was old stains and blood stains on the duvets . The sewer smelled so bad every day especially at night!!!  The cleaning staff was very unpolite and looked very angry everytime they had to exchange the cups and glasses and dropping of toilet paper and tissues.

Newly renovated, high-tech spacious room with lavish toiletries (Clarins) and furniture; crisp bedlinen, generous, comfortable bed, floor to ceiling French windows... excellent breakfast - with a wide selection of pretty much everything one could think of (including fresh honeycomb in a fancy setup)

the floor was under renovation with most rooms work in progress and only a handful of rooms operational - dust and dirt from renovation works, workers going up and down the hallway, a bit too much for a five star hotel

Location cannot be matched. If you need metro, taxi or main pedestrian street with all shops and restaurants you could need, then this is your hotel. The bed was clean and comfortable. The Bulgarian staff were amazing and so helpful

There was a trainee staff who when I asked to check out and I was in a hurry to get my bus, started to check me out but then answered the phone and started serving that customer as well as assisting the man behind me. Trying to do 3 jobs at once slowed down my checkout and when I asked how to get to my bus stop, she said she could not read Bulgarian. I had to get a taxi and with the delay I could not wait for invoice. Just some feedback for hotel to not leave trainee alone and help her with better management

The location was excellent, very close to everything. Breakfast was very good as well with a lot of choice, and the rooms were comfortable. The only complaint I had was that my room was not cleaned once during my stay (4 nights), despite repeated complaints. It's a shame as this is otherwise a very comfortable hotel.

Great location, comfortable bed, newly remodeled room. The breakfast is very good with quite a good variety of items. The front desk staff and the breakfast staff were very professional.

There were issues with housekeeping and it was painfully obvious. Housekeeping consisted of making the bed and changing the towels. The room was never cleaned. Never dusted, bathroom floor never swept, coffee cups never washed. Shampoo, Kleenex, and soap replaced only after asking for them, despite the visible empty containers. The state of housekeeping was unacceptable for any hotel, let alone a 5 star hotel. Which is very unfortunate because everything else was actually really good.

Located very near Serdika metro station just 3 mins walk, tram stop, walking tour meeting point. Can connect to and from airport just using serdika metro line itself without worry of transportation delay. Hotel is in Centre between churches, mosque and synagogue. The hall of justice is 2 mins walk where u can meet up for some walking tours surrounding city. Enjoyed hotel breakfast which start from 7 am till 10.30 am. Front desk personnel were very receptive and accomodating. There is an ATM exchange machine in front door of hotel to change euro into bulgarian leva if you are in hurry. There are also some exchange shops nearby about 6 mins walk. Rooms are classic look mix with modern furnishings, with woodlike flooring, and have bedside sockets. Bathroom has heated flooring though its marble floor. Views from room at level 5 are great. The place to be if you want to cover all visits in few days and perhaps extend to enjoy the hospitality.

Breakfast- same choices every day. Coffee machine dispenser faulty causing long queue. No hair dryer in room.

Reception staff were excellent and took a lot of trouble to help me. Housekeeping staff not so good. Breakfast was good. I didn't really use any other facilities but I don't think the restaurant was open when I was there.

Firstly the lighting system in the room was a nightmare of technology! Only one switch - the rest were these panels dotted around which were hard to handle. You would open/shut the curtains on one panel and then another panel would do the opposite! The air conditioning gave me trouble which may have been my fault although I don't see how it could be if it was working when I went to bed and would then turn itself off in the night. As the outside temperature was in the 30s it was much needed.

Excellent location in central Sofia by Serdika metro station, and very friendly, helpful and accommodating staff. Close walking distance to most of the sights in the city and surrounded by nice bars and restaurants. Great base for first time visitors to the city and excellent value for money. One of the comfiest beds I've been in for a long time!

The electronic panels for lights, air con, curtains and do not disturb were fancy and modern - but weren't the most responsive when you wanted to do things, and some were placed in positions that were hard to reach (ie: behind lamps). But this is a minor inconvenience in the bigger picture, this was still a great place to stay.

The property is stunning, the decor of the rooms are beautiful and the service throughout the hotel was top notch! Location wise you are at the top of Vitosha Boulevard and surrounded by some good bars and places to eat. I’d not hesitate to stay again as the price is very good value for money.

For a 5* hotel I felt the cleanliness of the room was very poor. The wooden floors were dusty, as were most of the surfaces, clearly not cleaned with any kind of eye for detail. Taps in the bathroom were watermarked and the splash back behind the sink and the mirror were badly marked with splashes. Such a shame as the hotel itself and the rooms are stunning. Housekeeping do not do the place justice!

Charming and classy hotel located centrally in Sofia next to the metro station. The staff are professional and friendly, buffet breakfast was delicious, and the public areas beautifully decorated. The room, despite its flaws, was still charming with a lovely bathroom sporting quality bodycare products, the rainfall shower was a lovely touch. Beds were super comfortable. Balkan Palace has a great potential if the issues addressed below are taken care of. I will still be coming back again, hopefully to a cleaner room.

My room had not been properly cleaned and there was a lot of dust (the phone lines that used to be black were instead grey of dust). The floor was not properly cleaned either with quite a few dust bunnies. Walls and floor planels were worn and could use a bit of paint, and pieces of the floor panels were missing. Power sockets in the mini bar closet did not work, the panel that controls the lighting is a bit difficult to operate (although I love the idea, controls are just not always responsive nor intuitive). The phone line to room service did not work either, and despite the welcome "book" clearly stating that a late night menu is available, front desk told me only drinks were available.
