The coffee was wonderful, once I figured out the Illy machine. The breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts I have had. Walks distance to so many restaurants and pubs. Short drive to the U of A hospital where we had an appointment. The staff were very friendly. Quite clean and comfortable.

There was no place to park for the valet parking (full) and no instructions on where to park for the self parking option. Drove around the bloke numerous times before finding a place to park around the corner…but then had to hope no tickets would be given before the valet moved our car. I had booked partially based on pictures showing bathtub in rooms. There was not one. Very disappointing. The beds were comfortable but very low. Anyone older or with mobility issues would have a difficult time with them. This should be noted when people are booking. The charging station on the night table needed cleaning.

I'd stayed at the other two properties owned by this group before- the Varscona just up the street and the Matrix downtown. Of the three, the Meterra was by far the least expensive option and I've walked by it many times on previous visits to Edmonton, so I decided to give it a chance. I'm very happy that I did! My room was huge, with a very, VERY comfortable bed, good HVAC and operable windows. It was also quiet. I slept really well. The location on Whyte Ave is superb with many dining and coffee (really excellent coffee at Labo!) options steps away. Included breakfast is very adequate. I'll stay here again.

The location is great for walking around Whyte Ave. Great views of downtown. Spacious room with very comfortable bed. Great shower and bathtub, nice and hot and great water pressure! Breakfast is very good, something for everyone.

Fireplace in my first room didn't work, staff were very helpful in switching me to another room. The second fireplace worked, technically, but would often go out unexpectedly and then flare up...which was a bit alarming. I noticed a carbon monoxide detector, which was good, but still not ideal.

The breakfast buffet was very good. It was small but always fresh and was continually replenished. The 'happy hour' glass of wine and half-off appetizers in the evening was a nice touch. The valet parking was good. Self parking is a bit cheaper but I would go with valet again. Wifi is great and fast. Despite being on Whyte Ave, we found the room quite quiet which was nice.

When we checked the first room we were given the bed spread had a stain on it. When we complained to the front desk they did correct it, gave us a nicer room, and gave complementary valet parking for the stay.

Hotel offers a buffet style breakfast. Options include scrambled and boiled eggs, bacon, sausage, and potatoes along with an assortment of bread, muffins and other baked items and yogurt and fruits. Coffee and juices were also available. Overall breakfast was very good and the breakfast location was nice and cosy. Hotel location is great! Close to dozens of restaurants and boutique shops. The hotel is also linked to Ampersand 27 (restaurant) and you get a 10% at the restaurant for staying at the hotel. I tied Ampersand 27 and food was very good but more expensive than some surrounding restaurants.

My room had 2 queen beds. One was in good shape, the other had a very old mattress that needed replacement. Bathroom and room was clean but the walls did have some stains on them. Looked like oil type stains.

When we arrived we had a concierge greeted us to take our luggage. Once inside the building the front desk assistant was very friendly and asked us if we would like either parking for the night for a certain amount of money or a valet parking for just 5$ more, we took that as that is one downside, we couldn’t find parking but they helped us with that. Over all, the experience was 90%. I say only 90% because I have lower back/hip issues and I feel the bed could have been a bit better.

We loved the staff and the location, big shout out to John for keeping us all fed alongside the rest of the team. Also the house keeping team for the excellent job they do and not to forget the front of house for booking us in and briefing us on the area. All in all a super friendly place to stay in an excellent location 100%

We liked the whole experience, rooms feel a little dated but this may just be a Canadian style, to be clear they were clean, tidy, warm and well maintained so this is an observation not a complaint

We enjoyed the bed and found it very comfortable. The room was a good size and clean. The bathroom was standard and good. We booked the room with a patio, but we didn't use it nor expect to since it was December. We still had access though and I think it would have been pleasant in nicer weather although not entirely private as we could see the neighbouring balcony. Breakfast was good, although nothing special. It was exactly as expected for a hotel breakfast, hot and cold food. There were breakfast smoothies though, which is a nice addition. The coffee at breakfast was good, although not great, and the coffee in the room was normal for a hotel (meaning just fine). Whyte Ave is a great area and I would suggest venturing out. We only stayed one night and instead of bothering to look for parking we opted to use the valet service for our car and it was a smooth process. I would recommend using it for your own convenience. You can park directly at the door upon arrival, then park your vehicle afterwards.

We had an okay only view of Whyte Ave from the location of our room, but we were directly above the kitchen and woke up to the smell of bacon. This made us so hungry we hurried down to breakfast, but really I would have preferred not to wake up in a hotel to the smell of breakfast.

Missed breakfast. Have stayed at Metterra since it opened. Always enjoy the property, like the decor, appreciate the evening bar service though it was closed on this occasion. Staff very friendly and helpful.

The quality of the towels is embarrassing. They are bordering on threadbare and are a poor reflection on this otherwise elegant property. Additionally housekeeping only provides 2 bath towels in total. Given the poor quality, 2 per person are required because they have no absorption properties. One of the reading lights by the bed was hanging askew and falling off the wall.

Good location for walking to restaurants and shopping. Comfortable room with lots of space.The breakfast was very good (it was included). The staff was friendly and attentive.

Parking was not included, and the choices were limited. We ended up paying for valet parking at $25 /night. The other parking option was a parkade, a block away for $20/night. It was not a huge deal, but the valet parking got backed up, and we had nowhere to pull in one night. A bit of stress.
