This beautiful hand crafted home was like a slice of heaven. We indulged ourselves in an extravagant backyard garden and then rested in a gorgeous patio with a glass of wine. Our room came with an extremely comfortable bed and exquisitely hand made furniture by our hosts. We were greeted by our hosts in the morning with delicious hot coffee, homemade preserves and a baked apple from the garden, freshly picked raspberries and an omelette made with eggs from their chickens laid yesterday. In short, this is what we look forward to in a BnB. Although we were 1800 miles from our home in the US, we would most definitely return if we can. Thank you to our new friends, Gordon and Todd.

Our stay was outstanding.

Breakfast was wonderful and varied (we were there 3 days). The owners were very hospitable, and had lots of good information to share with us about the area and people (to help us with what we were doing in the area). We had space to socialize with our friends who were also staying there. The garden is lovely, as is the area in general...we love the West Kootenays! There was a desk area where I could set up my laptop computer. There were lots of plugs in the room for charging cell phones and other technology as needed. The house was very secure when we went out.

Our hosts were fantastic! We had great conversations, learned about some of the rich history in the area that has us intrigued to return so we can spend more time to experience and explore. The room was clean, beautifully built and finished including hand made furniture from trees on his Dad’s property and it very well appointed. The yard and landscaping showed real passion and pride and was a pleasure to take in. The breakfast was delicious, made with fresh eggs from their own chickens and ingredients grown from their garden, including their own strawberry preserves that still make my mouth water thinking about it. The recommendation to have dinner at Pino’s in Trail was spot on and we were introduced to some of the very best authentic Italian cuisine we know of. We have definite plans to return again and hopefully soon.

If there is a downside, it is that restaurants are a drive away to either Castlegar or Trail, but it is a nice and easy drive that gave us a chance to explore some more.

The breakfast was exceptional, with lovely fresh fruit and made from scratch waffles. The coffee was hot and strong and great. Our hosts were extremely personable and we enjoyed our conversations. The fact that Todd made the furniture and the kitchen himself lent a personal touch to the accommodation. Since Genelle is a few kilometres from Castlegar, it is more of a quiet, out-of-the-way place which lends itself to a quiet stay.

The uniqueness of the expansive English style garden provided a beautiful opportunity to enjoy a glass of wine or spend time in reflection. The interior contains handmade wooden furniture, special historical items and an ambiance that provides peace and a welcoming atmosphere.

We were able to enjoy the garden ( which is fabulous), with plenty of spots to sit and read. The room was comfortable with everything that you needed. Gordon and Todd were very helpful, interesting to talk to and the breakfast was delicious.

The food was excellent. The dinner (extra) was a real treat. It also meant we didn't have to drive back into Castlegare for dinner which was great as we had just spent the day on the road. When we expressed a preference for a local beer, Todd went out and got us some :). The evening was convivial. The breakfast was again wonderful - especially liked the artic kiwis! Both Gordon and Todd made our stay at Genelle a lovely respite. Would stay again at the drop of a hat.

The breakfast was awesome,the room was very clean and exceptionally finished. The grounds were nicely landscaped and there were many separate places on the property to sit and relax.n

Excellent. B and B in Janelle BC. Room was large and comfortable. Breakfast was superb. A wonderful garden behind. The best part is the engaging couple that greet you and meet you at breakfast. Highly recommended.

Breakfast was excellent. Hosts were informative and very interesting. Lost of knowledge of the area and it’s history.

Would have liked to have a comfortable seating area to gather in with our friends. We were 2 couples traveling together. There was a high table in the entrance room, but chairs were not conducive to sitting and conversing.
