room was very nice; comfortable. We did lose electricity the night we stayed - took about 15 minutes to restore, after my cpap had stopped working and woken me up. I would expect a resort of this size to have back up generators.

Property is meant to be walked, but walking wasn't possible for this 63 year old; it's way too hilly and difficult to get anywhere on foot from our rooms' location. If I'd known I would have requested rooms closer to the pools. I also didn't like when I went for my horseback ride and they weren't expecting me. I had to return to my room to search for my receipt showing I'd paid. Couldn't find it, big kerfluffle, lots of uncertainty, embarrassment, delay of activity for me and everyone. One poorly trained employee nearly ruined our stay. And I didn't like the density of guests enjoying the pools. I was a guest of the resort and could never find an empty chair near the pool, I think because they were all occupied by people there on day passes. Not cool.

Great location. Nice Hot Springs. very friendly staff. Great view of the volcano.

Rooms were really antiquated. And swimming was open until 10 PM, I believe, and there are no or very few lights in a lot of the areas (paths or pools). By contrast if you go to Baldi, Hot Springs, there are lights literally everywhere. Los Lagos would really help itself by adding LED lights around the property, including in the pools for at night so the people feel safe when they’re swimming in the dark.

The location was good with a fabulous view to the volcano and out over the plains. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was great.

We were in Costa Rica to experience the nature and wildlife....this hotel felt very much like a theme park. Our room was a 15 minute walk down to reception ( very steep to walk back up)although you can call for the internal shuttle bus at any time. There seemed to be a lot of single use plastic, polythene wrapped drinking glasses in the room, disposable plastic for drinks at the pool bar. I am amazed that they advertise the butterfly garden....it is a run down little shade house that looks like nobody has tended to for a decade. We saw two butterflies in it....you can see way more on any patch of roadside scrubland.

Everything ….but breakfast

Breakfast was poor. Everything was a bit substandard. We had left the Intercontinental to in San Jose to spend the night in LaFortuna, so the quality stood out probably a bit more. However, I stay all over the world (as a senior International Flight Attendant) and there is no reason for your hotel to lack! Hire some good cooks and spend the money on good food! Perhaps have a kids buffet line, and adult line. Cereal and pancakes easy fruit for kids (it’s what they were eating anyway) and then improve the adult line. Also, the Bar Pool, with kids? Why not have that for parents who want to drink at a bar with their kids… and have an adult bar, with no yelling, splashing kids!

Fantastic property, with great pools (hot and cold), fun water slides for the kids, really good breakfast buffet, and friendly, attentive staff. Located in a great spot to explore the Arenal area, and everything can be easily accessed either using a rental car or being picked up by your operators nearby. Our young kids (9 and 6) loved this place more than some of the more expensive resorts nearby (we did day passes), and could have spent our whole vacation playing in their pools and enjoying fancy drinks at the poolside bar. Overall, a phenomenal place.

We love every minute! From the speedy shuttle, to the beautiful grounds to the plentiful and cool hot springs and wet bar and cold pools with slides and beautiful landscape on which we saw many amazing creatures. Well Done Los Lagos! I will highly recommend. It was a very memorable experience! We loved the views from both sides of the room as well. Exceeded all our expectations. Thank you!

It was a bit spread out but that really added to the experience of a beautiful walk and using the shuttle. So really not bad at all

This is a very nice place! I treated myself a bit, it was a lot for just me to go. I had a HUGE room up the hill with a GREAT view! It would have been quite a walk to get there, but they have shuttle buses that run all the time. Staff was great!

The breakfast was OK in the morning. But the fruit there was AWESOME!

The variety, cleanliness and the multiple thermal pools.

We had a car so it was fine for us, but maybe golf carts or shuttles that run the resort periodically so people don’t have to walk as far ( if they aren’t able, etc)

there is is no less than a place like this. I love coming back at Los Lagos every time I come back to Costa Rica. The pools are exceptional. The hot water is dreamy. The staff is always outstanding. The price is not bad; you won't regret staying here.

Price of the food. You are better off taking an Uber and driving to the town.
