Camping ground in an amazing setting with a beautiful view on the lake and volcano. We got a big tent below a roof, not one of the little huts (which is not very clearly stated on the listing). The tent was very large however, and there was a double bed inside. The breakfast was copious and very good! The staff is nice although not all of them speak english and communication was a bit difficult sometimes. 4x4 is required to park next to the camping ground.

The bedsheets and towels smelled quite bad, probably because of the humidity. It's a tropical country and probably cannot be helped without a dryer, but having your own bed cover and towel helps if the smell bothers you. No hot water, but it is quite warm so it's not too much of a problem if you take a quick shower.

The couple who own the place are really nice and helpful. The man even took us to the bus stop the next morning and cooked us breakfast early because we had to take the first bus to la fortuna. The location and the view are amazing!

There wasn’t hot water but in many hostel there’s isn’t hot water so bare that in mind! But otherwise it was a nice stay.

Our first night in Costa Rica was spent at Sunset Inn. The location was great, we saw plenty of birds and animals around the area and the views were spectacular. The breakfast was delicious and the hosts were really friendly and accomodating. Good value for money.

The second night we stayed some of the guests arrived at 12am and woke up at 5am and were talking very loudly right outside our tent. Bring your earplugs. Difficult access way up to the house, we were happy we had a 4x4 - although a couple of 2wd made it up with some difficulty.

The host was very helpful when we arrived with a lot of questions about the area. Check in was a breeze and easy to do in the middle of the day. The host went out of there way to provide us early breakfast before we left for the local bus. Great view of Arenal. Lots of birds to see and the hosts’ dogs and cats were very friendly.

This camping experience may not be for everyone, just should know going in it is a rustic experience. The location in El Castillo is a little off the beaten path. We did not have a car which made travel a little more difficult than other campers. There is one public bus that leaves from el castillo at 7am and comes back at 5:30pm to and from la fortuna. It worked for us but something to be aware of!

The view is outstanding with Arenal lake and Arenal Volcano right in front. Ingrid and her husband are very nice. Ingrid helped me a lot with planning the test of my trip in Costa Rica. A good breakfast in the morning. A complete kitchen to cook your own meals which I like to do. Thank you both for a wonderful stay. I was there for 6 nights. I was sad to leave.

The road up to the cabins is not easy in a 2 wheel drive . I was very happy to have a SUV 4 x 4.

Amazing place with a marvelous view on the volcano and lake. You'll hear and see many different birds in the surroundings and the breakfast is delicious: fried plantain, rice and beans, scrambled egg, fresh juice and coffee. Also there are cats and cute dogs (three puppies).

Everything was great,just keep in mind that you absolutely do need a 4w4 for the last 300m. If you don't have one, you can park close to the lake

We absolutely LOVED staying here. The view is amazing! We booked the little house, which was comfortabel. Great communal kitchen, clean bathrooms. And Isa, the owner, is a top guy! he serves an excellent (really) breakfast. And his homemade juices are the best. It’s a bit of a drive from La Fortuna, and you’ll need a 4x4 to get to the camping. This we liked a lot, but might be a problem if you don’t have a car. Close to the lake, if you want to do some swimming or kayaking. And a nice bar close by (Howlers Bar and Grill, highly recommend). We had a great time here!

Ingrid and her husband are awesome. they were extremely helpful and welcoming. They prepared the best breakfasts we had in Costa Rica and we really enjoyed the calmness of the location, watching sunset on the Arenal vulcano. The room is basic but it has it's charme and you can't find a cheaper place where to stay! Best quality-price ration we found in Costa Rica!

This is an absolute gem of a place! We travel for places like this- peaceful, tranquil and great views of the volcano and lake. We stayed in the tent, which had a double bed and fan, with great views. I wanted an A-frame but they were all gone, but I think I much prefer the tent as you had all the fresh air blowing through. Breakfast was included and was delicious with fresh fruit juice. Bathrooms were very clean, kitchen well equipped. Highly recommended!

This was one of our favourite stays in Costa Rica. The host was extremely helpful and kind and was willing to do breakfast early or late according to our and others needs. The accommodation was comfortable and the view is amazing. The location is nice and quiet apart from the birdlife which is vibrant. Look out for the fireflies on the main road through the village at night.
