The room small but clean and the little coffee shop has excellent coffee, better than any hotel and reasonably priced. The location is wonderful! It's just a couple blocks from Chinatown and an extended pedestrian street with everything you need. The staff is great with ok English and is much better than they were at the $100 a night I stayed in in LA.

The stairs are a little dark but that is the worst I can say about it.

Fantastic location, you cannot get better when in San Jose City. Right opposite the National Museum and a 5 min walk downtown and to everything of major interest. loved the owner of the property and the juice bar next door for breakfast. great value for money. I want to thank the owner of this property for her amazing kindness. I left a necklace of great sentimental value and she was in touch constantly so I could try and recover it, despite my travelling around. people don’t do that across the world, so this was an act of kindness that speaks volumes about this property and the owner and family who live there. i can’t recommend this place enough. especially if first time in San Jose or travelling solo.

got a bit cold, but the owner is more than happy to give extra blankets and asks you on arrival. Take the extra blanket just in case as weather can be unpredictable.

The hotel is very good value for money. Located almost in the city center, close to most of the bus terminals, but the place is relatively quiet. My room was cleaned upon request, once per 2 days. There is a big shared space for eating, reading and playing games, a decent selection of books. The owners are friendly and helpful, they even speak some English. WiFi worked very well in my room. Stable hot water in the shower.

The owners usually woke up quite early and made some noise in common areas, but that was fine for me, since I woke up even earlier most of the days.

The owner of the hostel is a super super nice lady who shows a lot of effort to help you in all your demands! No matter if you have questions in terms of your onward journey or if you just need tips from a local. I „had“ to stay there for over one week because of stomach flu and I couldn‘t ask for a better place to stay at while being sick!! She also offered me a super delicious soup twice (a extraordinary sweet gesture!!), always asked for my well-being and overall she was really caring during my stay there! In addition, the room was very clean and the cleaners were super friendly and engaged :) I also really liked the location, 5 minutes walk from pharmacy, supermarket and about 5-10min. to the Central Street. Overall, my experience there was very very good! Una vez más: Muchas muchas gracias !!! :-)

Aida, the woman who runs this place is a gem, super helpful with anything you need. The rooms are simple but very clean. The front is gated and you have to ring to get in so it’s safe. The beds are comfortable. I spent 4 night in a room with a twin bed and wanted to stay an extra night and had to switch to a double since singles were sold out. Shower has hot water. They have cable with a few selections in English. Friendly, familial place with a nice, quiet little dog named Edwin. Good value for money. I’d recommend this place.

The neighbourhood after dark but the whole city gives me that feeling. The room can get surprisingly cold at night but Aida offered an extra blanket which solved the issue. The rooms give onto a courtyard and aren’t bery soundproof so you hear the city noise and noise from the theatre next door on weekends. With earplugs, you will be fine.

Aida, the owner became my new friend in San Jose. I requested some hot water for my throat and she provided it me daily. Google maps does not work for me in SJ, Aida showed me the shortcuts for reaching these attractions. My room was cleaned daily, thrash emptied too. Location: near 2 museums and train station. Center of the city is about 7 blocks away. There are many local eateries near by offering cheap and delicious meals.

No free breakfast. Per Aida she compensated this with fast and free internet and cable services with some English channels.

The location of the hotel is great, it is super central right next to the national museum. The room was clean and good equipped. The hosts were really nice and always ready to help with questions etc. Also their Schnauzer is very cute.

For me it was a bit hard to figure out how the electric shower works at first, but I made it and there was a also an explanation about it in the room. After the first time it was easy and it heated quickly.

The 3 day stay was perfect. Mrs. Aida was so welcoming and very helpful. She spoke very good English compared to the Spanish I fumbled with. Hotel was so charming on the inside and felt like home. Everyone was treated like family.

Well, a bit noisy at night when the wind blew as it rattled the roofing. Had to confront other guests during the night as they had no respect for those sleeping. Whether they knew English or not, they got told! But got a good nights sleep regardless.

Friendly staff. Family owned and operated. A shop attached where you can buy water and drinks and food etc. Also I could buy a sim card from there and there is ATM just outside. It's the perfect place to stay if it's your first night in Costa Rica as it has everything you need to get set up for your trip. The location was good too.

The room was a bit old and stale. And there was a bit of construction noise that woke us up early in the morning but it was probably just a one time thing.

The location was great, right next to the national museum. The staff were absolutely lovely, and the hotel is really cute, nicely decorated. The room was just as advertised, and the hot water is a nice plus :)
