Location, garden and atmosphere of the hotel, wonderful staff (Mr Rashid and Mr Mohammad Ali were very helpful and kind). An exceptional palace hotel which itself is an historical monument

Breakfast location: La corniche: restaurant till midnight breakfast hall starting 5.30, some details about hygiene are missed. Fryer stand is nearly in the middle of the hall, no aspirator hood exists. Smell of burned oil reaches to the rooms at the second floor and it was very heavy at the breakfast hall. Restaurants in the hotel are expensive with respect to the ones in Luxor, however have much lower price with respect to the restaurants with the same quality in Europe or USA.

the hotel is an old staple but could afford to have some minor updates when it comes to it being outdated and the like. the overall hotel was good, and the staff was fine. it was sufficient but wouldn't necessarily return over other locations

food on site was not great, and overpriced for how bad it was. I strongly recommend not eating at the hotel even though they have two "good" restaurant options. I am a big foodie and wasn't impressed especially for the cost

We absolutely loved our stay at The Winter Palace! The entry and lobby are beautiful as well was our room. Everything is very well taken care of and cleaned. The view of the Nile from the room is so pretty! (The property is set a ways back from the street, so we were not bothered by traffic noise and preferred being on the side with the Nile. Light sleepers might prefer the garden side.) The grounds are absolutely incredible and we spent so much time walking around and learning about all of the trees from around the world. The pool is huge with lots of seating options available. The staff were always kind and helpful. We loved sitting at the bar each evening, the bartender was so nice, and we enjoyed the cocktails. They even had live piano music on some evenings.

The food. For being such a well renowned hotel, I can't believe they serve such mediocre food. The breakfast was fine and the pool food was just ok. The drinks at the pool were very inconsistent. The "gourmet" French restaurant that you must dress up for creates such a beautiful ambience, and the servers are all great, but the food was not good (for example they use the same frozen vegetable medley for all of the entrees that I saw). Our best meal was at the buffet/bbq outside, but at over 900egp pp, it cost more than the fine dining experience, and hardly anyone was eating there (probably because of the cost). Someone needs to come in and re-vamp their food and drink menus and this place would be perfection!

We booked a room with view of the Nile and it was worth it! The most incredible feeling to sit on the balcony at sunset or sunrise and watch the boats and feluccas and the West Bank ... timeless and stunning. The breakfast room was so elegant, it made us feel like Royalty and the spread was sophisticated. Swimming pool area is amazing - the gardens around are exceptionally beautiful. Staff were fantastic - we were allowed to stay for late check out and use the pool until 6pm because we had a train to Cairo that night at 8:30pm. Mohamed Anwar from reception and Esraa from guest relations went out of their way to arrange all and help us book the train tickets. Thank you both!

We were very excited to stay at the hotel given its impressive history. We were blown away by how beautiful it is. You feel like you have stepped back into the Victorian-era with the archaeologists who had stayed at the hotel. Our room (which we very luckily got upgraded to for free) was spacious, clean, comfortable and beautifully furnished with antique furniture. The room was cleaned daily and the staff always ensured we had plenty of water. We enjoyed two delicious dinners at the stunning 1886 restaurant. Breakfast was great - diverse and plentiful. They can also make you lunch boxes to take away with you on your daily adventures. We toasted our days exploring Luxor at the gorgeous bar. The service from each staff member we encountered was outstanding - everyone was warm, friendly, attentive, helpful and went out of their way to ensure we had a comfortable stay. Though we did not have time to use it, there was a large pool on site. We highly recommend this hotel and cannot wait to return!

N/A - it was perfect!

I loved everything about this charming, historic hotel! Staying here is like going back in time to a more genteel era. The ceilings are high, the corridors are very wide and no one rushes around. I felt like I was in a lovely oasis from the busy world! And the breakfast—where do I start?? Actually, look up YouTube videos of the breakfast, as it is indescribable! It was all so delicious along with freshly blended juice drinks and your own pot (or pots) of pressed coffee.

The hotel is suffering a bit from wear, like an aging Grand Dame, but that might be part of her charm. I didn’t mind that at all.

The Winter Palace is an elegant refuge from the heat of trekking through tombs. The room was beautiful, the beds heavenly, and the food delicious. We loved the pool, the shady lounges, and the ability to enjoy a cup of tea on our quiet balcony. The highlight, however, was the staff, particularly Esraa, who was unfailingly patient as she helped us navigate a variety of outings. Thank you Esraa for making our stay in Luxor a memorable experience!

We have no complaints, everything was perfect!

Our welcome and stay at Winter palace was magical. We cannot thank the manager and staff enough for everything they did to make our 30th wedding anniversary so special. We were overwhelmed by the surprise and kindness of upgrading our room to the Opera Suite. This was an absolute dream come true. To stay in the Winter Palace in any room was going to be wonderful, but this... absolutely speechless. We then went to dinner in the 1886 restaurant which was excellent, the service and food was just exceptional. We were again overwhelmed by thought and kindness as a Happy Anniversary banner and Cake with a candle was brought to us at our table. we have never been so spoilt and made to feel so special. The pool and gardens are tranquil and the history feels alive. The hotel is a short walk to Luxor temple and to all the Nile Cruise boats. We had only one night at the Winter Palace, we so wish we could have stayed longer. THANK YOU to management and everyone at the Winter Palace who went out of their way to make our stay so incredibly special.

OK. This place is pretty much the definition of old-world colonial charm. I am glad that they have curated this old palace so tastefully. The huge atrium with an Egyptian flautist, tall ceilings and wide corridors everywhere - this place would make even giants happy. The garden is magical in the evening. The open-air grill buffet is just how it should be. The staff everywhere fit right in. The pool is relaxing and clean with great service. Breakfast is stylish and plentiful, both in scenery and spread. The bar would make any writer drool. As some others have noted some of the furniture is dated, but that is the idea - no business hotel here. This is hotel time travel at its best.

We tried both the Garden and the Nile rooms and liked the former better. A bit too much traffic noise and gasoline smell on the Nile side even if the view was quite something.

The artifacts and atmosphere were spot on. The offerings at the included buffet breakfast were exceptional. The staff were very kind and accommodating. The gardens, pool area, including a towel stand, were quite nice and spacious. WiFi was reliable.

The old style key was in keeping with the feel of the hotel but not as ideal to carry around. The partition for the bathtub made it difficult to contain the water if you weren't mindful, as more people in modern times shower more often than taking a bath.
