A historic villa with substantial surrounding gardens and land with pool, indoors jacuzzi tab and secured car park in the suburbs of Bordeaux (12 km). The villa is owned by the same family for the last 30 years and they have restored it with love and attention to detail, as the father is a renown architect. As a guest for two nights I enjoyed: - The spacious rooms overlooking the gardens featuring big bathrooms. - The huge common areas - kitchen dinning room, reception, living room, covered outdoors terrace overlooking the pool. - The delicious breakfast prepared exclusively from local natural ingredients by Laurence, one of the owners. - The location which is very convenient to visit the city or the local attractions by car or public transport. - The service by the owning family is superb and client centric. Everyone among the owners speaks very good English and try hard to make you feel at home. - Their four beautiful dogs who are part of the family and the hosting experience! Looking forward to returning soon!

Lovely traditional property in a quiet setting with nice pool and modern bedrooms. Safe parking overnight behind locked gates. Generous, welcoming and relaxed host. V much a family run entity - father and son. Good jumping off point for travel onwards.
Remote from Bordeaux centre so car needed ideally for ease or need to use Uber. Bedroom had every mod con but more focus on the upkeep of the outside pool area needed. There are big dogs who are well trained and owner is conscientious of peoples’s comfort levels but be aware if actually that’s not your thing.

Great find - last minute we changed our minds from staying in the centre of Bordeaux to being on the outskirts. So glad we did , staying in a Chateau made our holiday experience in France more authentic. Pool was a bonus. Breakfast fresh and delicious. The accommodation was splendid and in keeping with the era of the property. The host Rafael was attentive and was there for all our needs and requirements. Lovely family and dogs.
The property is on the outskirts of Bordeaux and without a car it is difficult to get into the centre of Bordeaux. It’s approx 12 km. We needed to rely on taxis which were easy to book. There is a bus and tram but we did not attempt to use either of these as a fair walk away

The property is beautifully situated and is a gem of a small, restored and updated chateau. Its location provides intimacy and its grounds were the perfect setting for an impromptu picnic (light lunch we brought nearby) after a long flight. The host Raphael (and his pet dogs and his architect/artist father ) were welcoming in both heart and manner, amd put us at east. He also provided a tremendous amount of helpful and needed information of areas around Bordeaux. The visit was short but filled with colorful stories from Rapahel who offered an opportunity to acquire a beautifully illustrated limited edition book of curated doors/doorways found around Bordeaux - a collaboration between Raphael and his father. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

My wife and I loved the uniqueness, privacy and quiet of this extensive property. The house itself is wonderfully eclectic with modern touches that complement the unique character of its aged charms. We loved hearing about the centuries old history of the house and also the chance to look through the beautiful book that co-owner Raphael created complete with gorgeous architectural illustrations by his architect father, Henri. Rafael is a highly entertaining host whose periodic company we thoroughly enjoyed throughout our short time at the chateaux. And his Jaguar mania is non pareil. Additionally, he made a reservation for us at a charming nearby restaurant where we enjoyed the best dinner of our trip through the Bordeaux region. The room itself was nicely appointed, a very good size and was outfitted with all the modern conveniences. Raphael put on a great breakfast for us and the other guests. And we must mention how much we appreciated and loved the pool, with water a perfect temperature that provided a respite from the upper 90's heat wave we experienced during our late August stay. We will definitely stay at Fleur D'Aya again if we are ever lucky enough to be in the area in the future.

We absolutely LOVED staying at Chteau Fleur D'Aya! We were immediately made to fee super welcome and in fact on our first night we chose to sit and eat our dinner (bought from a local supermarket) with Henri and loved listening to his stories about the amazing restoration he implemented at the Chateaux. The Chateaux is a fabulous mix of historical beauty and modern interior design - it has been renovated in a stunningly sensitive and clever way and we loved staying somewhere so different! The beds were super comfortable and the shower and bath etc were wonderful. We actually did not find the time to get a swim in as we at two Rugby World Cup matches to attend but it looked wonderful and the hosts were super relaxed about us using it at any time. We are hoping to make a return sometime in the future when we have more time to enjoy the Chateau and Bordeaux and it's surroundings.
The only thing that is worth bearing in mind is the fact that the Chateau is just outside of the tramway system from Bordeaux and the airport etc. You can tram to the next village along but then would have to jump on a bus to the Chateau. We loved being outside of the noise and chaos but it worked for us because we had a car, it would not be quite as convenient if you did not have your own mode of transport.

Excellent property. Plenty of history and character if you are in to chateaus and cars. Raphael and Henri are fantastic hosts, who will spend time to talk and run through the history of the property along with Raphael’s interest in old/rare cars. The dogs on the property were a welcome addition which we grew extremely attached too. Would definitely be back (once Raphael finishes his car facts book) - need a signed copy! Thanks both.

We had a great stay. The chateau is beautiful. Our room was spacious, was extremely quiet, and the beds were comfortable. It was very warm outside (35C) on our last day and the AC in our room worked well and kept the temperature very comfortable. AC is not a given in French accommodation even in the south, and AC that works well enough to provide North American style cooling is the exception rather than the rule. If you want to stay in comfort book Chateau Fleur D’Aya. The breakfast was healthy and plentiful (coffee too) both mornings we stayed.

Elegant chateau, with beautifully updated renovations. Lots of spaces for relaxing; inside and outside. Park-like grounds give guests added privacy in a peaceful setting. Our room was spacious, and the heated towel rack was a treat. Comfortable mattress and high-quality towels & sheets. Breakfast was delicious and substantial. Location outside of the city made it perfect for exploring the wine chateaus surrounding Bordeaux without having to deal with the city traffic. Wonderful hosts!
Liked everything.

Every thing about our stay was wonderful. Chateau with stunning interior and fabulous garden. The family are great, very welcoming and informative the four days spent there were not long enough. The Jaguar themed room is stunning even has heated toilet seat in the super bathroom. Breakfast was great. We will return as soon as possible
