August 2023

My wife and I travelled to Bayeux with our 23kg dog and we stayed in the hotel/chateau for two nights while exploring the town and the greater D-Day area. The chateau is very beautiful and hosts a couple buildings, tennis courts, a small river, and plenty of grassy areas with tall trees. The grounds are well maintained and it is very peaceful. Our room was on the top floor, but they did have an elevator, so that made it very convenient. Our room was very nice and had plenty of space, including an extra bed, so even our dog could have slept like royalty. The staff were all very friendly and welcomed us (and our dog) warmly. The breakfast had a good spread, but it does appear to be a recurring problem that the selection is not readily refreshed, so you may wait awhile before new (eggs, potatoes, etc.) are re-filled. The restaurant for dinner is fantastic and very affordable. My wife and I both really enjoyed our meal there and were disappointed we could only eat there once - the restaurant already being fully booked on our first night.

Given the various similar comments on the delay in refreshing the selection on breakfast, you'd think they'd have wisened up to the matter. Have some patience or arrive early for breakfast.

Scenic hotel with lovely grounds. Close to town yet serene and tranquil. Lots of outside areas to relax and have a drink. Beautiful main building. We appreciated having the space for our whole family in the family duplex.

While breakfast was adequate, the restaurant staff was slow to refill hot items. We also had dinner in the hotel restaurant one night and the food was just ok although the setting and service were good. reservations should be made ahead as it is small. If You are willing to drive 10 minutes into town there are plenty of superior options there.

We had a family room which was large, room and well appointed. We liked the gardens and sitting outside to read and enjoy the surroundings. Good entertainment for children with tennis court and soccer goals. Beautiful grounds The staff were accommodating when we wanted some bar service as we played in cards in the main hotel area. There was lots of parking as well.

Only one toilet in a room that sleeps 5. The kids had to walk down the stairs to go to the bathroom. Not so great during the night. Breakfast was disappointing. By the time we arrived at 9.30 there were not many pastries left and a number of items were not well maintained and guests had to ask staff to provide e.g milk, egg boiler. Given everything else the property had it would have been great to have a swimming pool. Similar facilities that we stayed at provided this.

The chateau is convenient located near to Bayeux, with lovely grounds. We stayed in a duplex room which had a lovely view and was very spacious. There was a good choice for the breakfast

Whilst not a problem for us, be aware that the hotel is close to a busy road as well as a railway line so there is some noise. The duplex room located in the old stables/coach house has two flights of polished stairs which may be an issue for those less mobile particularly as the bathroom on the first floor does not have a toilet, with the toilet located on the ground floor near to the entrance door.

The gardens are lovely if it was warmer we would have sat outside. Location good and easy to get to because it was close to the ring road. Bathroom fittings good and a joy to use. Room spacious. Good size bed.

Too much mini bar stuff in the way but no fresh milk for tea and coffee. Bathroom door lock didn't work. Opened windows to find view obstructed by kitchen extraction system. Went to bed at 10.30ish and there was a constant door banging downstairs seemed like every few minutes until approx midnight. Bit further to walk into town than another review suggests, it is actually a 15 minute walk according to Google maps but took us 20 minutes.

Very large family room - we stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment which was perfect for our family of 5. Bathroom was clean and well stocked, beds were comfortable and the room was quiet. Everyone slept well. The staff on reception were all very helpful, professional and friendly. They tolerated my attempts to speak with them in french with great humour! The hotel itself was beautiful, the setting sun was lovely from our room which overlooked the front of the hotel. Parking was very close to the hotel, large and spacious car park, beautiful grounds to explore also. We didn't eat at the hotel as we arrived after dinner and left before breakfast. The hotel was a few minutes drive from central Bayeaux and a perfect place for a mid way overnight stop between Brittany and Calais. Bayeaux was also beautiful and well worth a visit.

The hotel could probably save a fortune by turning the heating down! We turned all the heating off in the room and opened the windows and it was very comfortable - to be fair, it was probably one of the first slightly warmer days of the year.

The minute we drove through the gate, we were transported to a totally different world. It was just beautiful! 5 acres of manicured green grass, large trees, flowers, and a creek. The lawn was just inviting us to come and sit down with a bottle of wine and soak up the beauty of nature. The Chateau is just as welcoming. As we walked in, we were greeted by a fabulous staircase and a welcoming voice. The restaurant there was fantastic and they had a good wine selection.

Nothing major, just better pillows.

Beautiful situation, gardens and building. Room lovely with high ceilings, big windows and traditional decoration. Very comfortable, fluffy bath robes and slippers provided. Good wifi. Staff helpful at check in and whenever contacted. Easy walk into Bayeux centre and museums.

Breakfast and dinner - food and service slightly lower quality than the buildings and situation. Bath towels could be bigger and thicker, to be in line with the quality of the room.

It is beautiful and historic. We had 3 of us so we stayed in a duplex family suite, which was large and well appointed.

We don’t recall having read anywhere that you need to make reservations for dinner to eat at the chateau. Apparently you do - we arrived on a night their restaurant was full and we had to go into town for dinner when we were tired. It would be great if the reservation process gave you an option to book dinner.

Superb hotel within 1 km of beautiful Bayeux. Just about walking distance but easier by car (parking is decent but most of the car parks are payable). We had a family room which are in the little converted barn to the side of the main hotel - kids beds on the mezzanine with the main bathroom. Very clean and modern design, comfy beds. Large window to rear of room at ground floor opens out onto a little (shared) terrace area with seating and a view of the tennis courts. Very busy when we stayed (overnight stop en route to holiday) and restaurant needs booking early, but plenty of good restaurants in Bayeux itself. Despite the large number of guests (and questions) staff were very friendly and helpful, answered all questions politely and promptly. Speak great English (and Italian and German from what I overheard) and if you're fluent in French had some decent banter. Highly recommended for a overnight stay as we did, or as a base to explore Bayeux and the Normandy coast over a few days (there's a LOT to see and do). Its situated in its own little shaded park with mature trees, a river and lots of comfy outside seating. Really very pretty location and building. There is a good size private car park including a couple of charge points for EVs

Sat Nav directions from Google Maps put you on the opposite side of the road, need to go back up and around the roundabout from where Google directs you. Its a little tucked away behind trees off a little side road just off the roundabout as you come into Bayeux. If I was being picky about the room we had I'd say the stairs up to the mezzanine area for the kids area a little steep/slippy so may not be ideal for very young kids or people with mobility issues. We had no issues at all but something to bear in mind
