Arrived mid evening after a fault on the Trainline between Bordeaux and Bayonne but Leon had everything in place to make access easy. Bed very comfy, room very quiet even with the window open facing the pedestrianised street (I don't understand people saying it's noisy I was only 1 floor up too). The lady serving breakfast was very polite and I have to say it, very attractive too. 1 minute from Cathedral. 5 minutes from Gare De Bayonne. 2 minutes from an Irish themed pub complete with a thigh slapping penny whistling band singing good ole Irish songs in French. Like an LSD flashback.

I wish it was buy one night get one free. We can all wish.....

The manager was extremely helpful, and his English was very good. He suggested where to go to eat and recommended some restaurants which is always very useful. We loved the decor of the room and the bathroom, - both very clean with a modern bathroom and great shower. Comfortable bed and adequate sized room with kettle and coffee/tea facilities. Also WiFi.

Had to climb two lots of narrow stairs with luggage, but not a great problem. At night, with the window open for some air, it was rather noisy - but ear plugs were provided if needed - we didn't need them. Took us a while to find the hotel which meant we were later than expected, probably because we were not good at map reading! However, one email suggested parking at Champs Foire car park which caused the problem - hotel was much easier to find from the nearer Charles de Gaulle car park.

Comfortable, modern accommodations that still give a nod to the 16th century building! Incredibly comfortable beds in a surprisingly large room, perfect location, and Leon and Patricia are wonderful hosts!

The hotel is in a pedestrian only zone and parking in central Bayonne is tight! It can be tricky to get luggage to the hotel and park if you are arriving by car. Coordinate about parking availability and luggage drop off options with Leon, who is on top of it!

Beautiful old basque building in the historic town with easy access to tourist sites. Bus stop close to hotel with regular buses to Biarritz town and Airport. 1 bus stop away from Bayonne train station or an easy walk. Our room was spacious with a comfortable bed and modern bathroom. A kettle and hairdryer were provided in the bedroom. An easy check in after reception hours.Nice breakfast served by friendly, helpful staff. Restaurants by the Riverside at close proximity..

The only small thing was that I was confused as immediately after booking I received a message saying that Reception opening hours were limited and to contact the hotel if I needed to check in later than those times. I did this by email and received a quick reply and easy self check in . However , it was a little unsettling, and i don't always read my emails on a daily basis . This was a small problem and I would definitely go back.

A lovely old building full of character with lots of beams. The hotel is very central to the old medieval centre on a pedestrian street, less than five minutes walk from the Mairie where we got off the No4 bus from the airport and so is brilliantly placed for sightseeing. Our room was on the first floor so we only had one flight of stairs, it was large and light with a modern bathroom. There were two queen size beds - really comfortable. It was all beautifully clean and we were offered fresh towels each day (we declined). It’s run by two lovely people, really helpful and friendly and we were given excellent recommendations for eating out. Breakfast was continental- lovely bread, yummy croissants, jam, freshly made orange juice, yogurt, a piece of fruit and coffee for 8euros! On our last day we were able to leave our suitcase in a safe place whilst we had a last wander before heading to the airport. We’d certainly stay there again and probably will as there are several restaurants we didn’t have time to visit!

Excellent position, and the building is full of character and charm. The owner, Leon, was very friendly and helpful, and he made a great breakfast for us. The hotel is small, so service feels personal. Leon is proud of the hotel and local food and traditions and rightly so. Bayonne is a beautiful place and I would highly recommend Hotel Le Port Neuf.

Hotel with charm and character. Very good location. My wife appreciated the kettle. Comfortable bed. Friendly staff.

Because it is an ancient building the stairs are narrow and of course there is no lift, so might not be ideal for people with mobility problems. Probably a little noisy on a summer evening as sound echoes in the narrow street but the hotel thoughtfully supplies ear plugs.

Excellent location , near to all amenities and attractions. most important Leon and team has been excellent. Fantastic host, will definitely come back again.

Though bathroom and toilet are clean, it lack space to put any toiletries and towel. Would be great if that can be improved.

The beautiful old building’s floors are extremely creaky. You can hear every step taken by the neighbours above. No lift.

Great central location, lovely clean room. Very old style building but really beautiful. Pleasant owner, verty welcoming. We appreciated the text when the room was ready, as it was raining badly.

Very little really. It is a lovely place. Steep stairs up, but that goes with the character of the building.
