Very nice hosts and good location. We stayed at B&B Les Secrets des Loges for only one night. The communication from the hotel prior to our stay was helpful and very detailed. The couple who own this property are extremely helpful . The bathroom had been updated and was very modern.

We were unaware of the steps that needed to be climbed to get to our room. The host helped with our luggage, but if stairs are an issue, this should be noted prior to booking. The breakfast was mostly bread options (croissants, French bread) with honey or jam and a yogurt upon request. There were no fruit options or cheese options. We don’t eat a large breakfast normally but at other B and B’s we stayed at in France, they offered fruit and cheese. Not a complaint, just a comparison.

Based on the booking.com photos we were expecting an ok place but it was so much more! All rooms had their theme and were very well decorated. You could tell that the owners were paying attention to every little detail (even the air freshener in the toilet was colour coordinated with the rest of the room!). There were single use slippers and eye masks for the night in the room as well which was a nice touch. Breakfast was great with local, fresh ingredients and an option to ask for savory stuff if croissants are not your thing).

The stairs to go up were quite steep with no elevator (understandable given the age of the building). The shower in the room we stayed in was open (i.e. in the same room) which wasn't a problem for us since we're a couple but might have been for someone else (privacy screen was available though, so I guess it's not a huge issue).

What an exceptional find this is. On the outside an unassuming place but oh my word on the inside a warm welcome awaits you from Laurent and Nathalie. They are so passionate about their B&B and Calais and it shows. Each room is themed with an historical character from Calais and the rooms are all so beautiful. Breakfast was typically French with freshly baked croissants, pan au chocolats, and freshly squeezed orange juice (which was deliciously sweet) along with yoghurt if you wanted it. This isn't a restaurant but if you want to you can eat with Laurent and Nathalie in the evening. Laurent is a chef and he prepares a three course meal which you can enjoy with him and Nathalie and other guests for €25 per person which includes a drink but you are able to purchase a very reasonably priced bottle of wine if you wish. We felt like we had stayed with much loved friends and I definitely recommend it to fellow travellers. Both speak English very well and are approachable by phone if you have any queries. Also you can park on street (free overnight) but you can also a reserve a garage (free) if you book in time.

There wasn't anything we didn't like.

This was a diamond. We travelled from London after a 2 week tour of GB and did a walk on for the ferry to Calais. Shuttle to the city centre where there were no Uber or Taxis available for the day (arrived at 04:30pm). Walked to the hotel enjoying the sites. From there it was incredible. Great location, beautiful and thoughtful amenties. The room decor was incredibly put together with first flight across the channel the focus and incredible decorative details. Shower and toilet separate, that was excellent, we were travelling with our 23 year old daughter. They had a comfortable pull out for her. An internal courtyard is within the hotel that allowed us to have relax and decompress after a busy day travelling from London and walking from the city center pulling a suitcase. It was a sunny evening with a light breeze and to add to the evening we learned so much from our hosts, they were supportive, entertaining but not intrusive. From there we had a quick walk to a resturant that they had recomended where we had a phenomenal meal and experience. From there we had a liesurely walk through the city centre with friendly and helpful residents and made our way back to the well located hotel. In the morning we had a great breakfast, the buns and jams were amazing and the several coffees hit the spot. We could not book a taxi to take us to our car rental in the morning but the owners were very supportive and drove us there and even had to drive back when being an idiot, I left my International drivers licence back at the hotel. Incredibly nice, very interesting to talk to and beautiful lodgings, if we were going back for several days we would book in a heart beat. Thank you so much for adding to the enjoyment of our trip!!!!

nothing -- it was phenomenal, nothing to change.

We were pleasantly surprised about how much we enjoyed our short stay in Calais, en route to other areas in France. The location of the B&B was ideal to walk and see the sights of Calais, nicely situated off a square with easy parking. Les Secrets des Loges is very homely and welcoming. Breakfast was very good indeed. We also had an evening meal - excellent value and very high quality meal, cooked by the proprietor. The meal was interesting, tasty and to be recommended! Our room was charming, with a theatre "theme", and very comfortable. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed chatting over dinner. Highly recommended B&B!

Nothing to improve

A stunning little jewel of a place! Our room was dedicated to Louis Bleriot, the first man to fly the channel in a light aircraft and was absolutely charming. From the mural on the wall to the collection of books, so many quirky little details that added to our enjoyment of the location. The salon downstairs was equally tastefully furnished and decorated so that everywhere one looked, there was something of interest. Added to all of this, our hosts were warm and friendly and super helpful. We ended up chatting with them in the little courtyard at the back of the house, sipping cool wine and learning more about the history of the house. The breakfast was perfect - fresh and beautifully presented. We came away with fond memories and a little pot of local honey to remind us of a truly lovely stay!

We loved everything!

Your hosts are very friendly and we were very impressed with the place they ran. It is very charactful and full of charm. The rooms were themed and the hosts will explain how. There is parking available in a quite small space but also outside on the street. It is very convenient for the Car Ferry and the instructions to get to the property are helpful. You can walk into Calais and visit the excellent restaurant-The Chanel. Next time, we would also have dinner in the property which looks good and would be with the hosts who seem to be really interesting. I can imagine they would be a real help with any local knowledge you you needed. Breakfast was lovely, really fresh and tasty and in a room with lots of interest. There is also outdoor space for when its warm. We will definitely go back when we next want to stay in Calais.

There were no negatives.

Central location in the heart of Calais overlooking the splendid theatre and a large square. The hosts Laurent and Nathalie were extremely friendly and welcoming from the emails before we arrived and throughout our short stay. The house has real character and has been converted to a boutique hotel with charm and tasteful decoration, where antique furniture is combined with modern bathrooms. The evening meal is excellent quality and value and all guests and the hosts are encouraged to chat together. The breakfast was likewise delicious with home-made jams and fresh orange juice. Our dog was also made very welcome and, unlike most places, there is no supplement for your canine friend. Highly recommended!

The underground car parking space is very secure, but also a very tight manoeuvre. If you have a large car, use the street parking instead, which is free overnight and is outside the hotel.

This was a short stopover before sailing to Dover the following morning. The Secrets des Loges was perfect: central, friendly, and a beautiful building, home to the owners. Secure parking was available just a few meters away, but be aware that the access is narrow! My 5 series just fitted through the entrance with the mirrors folded! Great value drinks for the room and a fresh French breakfast in the morning.

Can't think of anything! I don't think noisy seagulls early morning in a seaport are a real reason to be critical... ;)

Nathalie and Laurent were very helpful...even replying to my text promptly, the day before I was due to arrive!!!! Very welcoming and we had a lovely evening together, over dinner...which was delicious and freshly prepared and cooked by Laurent... You can even book the chef for a range of cookery lessons! Nathalie's attention to detail ensures that everything you may need is at your fingertips...you don't even need to ask. The house has so many books, memorabilia and objets d'art. Such fun to hear about some of them! The bed was very comfortable! Each room is beautifully and individually decorated and has its own, interesting story based on an aspect of historical Calais. Breakfast was from the bakery with a choice of preserves, freshly squeezed orange juice, yoghurt and a big range of tea types. Set me up for the long drive home. Rufus, my little dog was welcomed. Their cats are beautiful! Price is amazing! Such value for money! Staying at Les Secrets des Loges was more like visiting friends! Relaxed, clean and comfortable! I will certainly be staying with Nathalie and Laurent again soon. Thank you!

Everything was better than expected. Just perfect!
