Ideally situated in a quiet street but close to port, cafes & restaurants and local market. Loved all the pop art and memorabilia on the walls. The staff were very friendly and helpful; in fact, when we arrived by car in La Rochelle we couldn’t get to the hotel due to changing roadworks, despite following the direction instructions. As such, we had to park in a car park nearby and walk to the hotel but a member of staff came with me back to the car park to direct me back to the hotel car park.

Bedroom and en suite/shower were very small. There was also a strange smell in the room - not sure if it was from building work - which was a bit overpowering on entering. Kept the window open whilst we were there but closed it when we went out so smell was back when we returned.

Amazing experience, from start to finish. The hotel is very well decorated which alone is worth a visit. The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable. The hotel is located close enough to the center of La Rochelle (5' walk) but conveniently distant to be quiet and tranquil. The private parking is a big plus in La Rochelle. The staff are all very kind and attentive. The breakfast was also a highlight - with fresh fruit and amazing local brioche (gache)! We loved La Rochelle and Hotel Francois 1er, we will certainly be back!

Hotel Froncois Premier is a very good Hotel in the center of La Rochelle. Very pleasant staff and confortable quiet room. We will not hesitate to stay here again

We did extend for one night our stay and we were charged more for the same room. This is because for the extra night we booked directly with the hotel and not booking . com, which at the time it gave us a discounted rate. This was not a big issue for us as we liked the Hotel.

In La Rochelle, a short walk away from the 'Towers'. Hotel is very much like a boutique hotel. Great wallpapers throughout etc.. It has a carpark £20 per night, it is next to the hotel and very secure, though a little tight. Breakfast was great for a cooked english breakfast but lacked the pastries, croissants. ham, cheese etc... for a continental breakfast. £12 pp. Staff very pleasant. Electric dyson fan in the bedroom. Safe in the room.

Only stayed one night, as far as i remember there wasn't a lift.

Fabulous location, lovely clean rooms with a really comfortable bed and pillows. The standard room was really small so we paid extra and had a bigger room with a bigger bathroom so the room felt lovely... could do with a bit of tlc, new bath, woodwork and walls could do with some fresh paint... But we'll definitely stay again, staff were really friendly, parking facilities and just great location.. thoroughly enjoyed our stay...

Very central location in the heart of beautiful La Rochelle. We stayed in family room/suite with a Beatles theme! The hotel is charming and the people who work there are lovely. The main bedroom had one enormous bed with a temporary bed for our youngest. Our other 2 children were in a bedroom off the main bedroom with 2 single beds. The property is a little dated but we would highly recommended. La Rochelle is a beautiful and very friendly town.

Nothing against the hotel but Google maps has the one way going the wrong direction on the street outside the hotel! It took us an extra hour of driving around medieval one way streets to finally figure out now to get our car to the hotel and the car park. Once we eventually figured it out how to get there we decided we were not going to use the car for the period of our stay in La Rochelle!

Very good sized room with comfy queen sized bed. Tea & coffee making, cool murals in room & throughout hotel. Very good buffet breakfast, secure parking, right in heart of old quarter but quiet too. Good heated towel rail (we had a lot of rain during our visit so very welcome).

Lack of a lift (luckily we were just on first floor, rm 110), no milk provided in room (though we brought some from breakfast). Bathroom was fine but could have been a little cleaner in shower area (cracked tile, grout needs bleaching).

The hotel was located in a quiet street which was ideally situated between the busy port area and the retail shopping area. The secure parking was excellent, behind automatic steel gates, which was ideal for our particular needs when travelling between Spain and the UK with a car full of personal effects. The room was spacious.

The decor was a 'little tired' and the shower was a hand held device over the bath.

We had an excellent stay at this hotel. It is modern, clean and comfortable and we would happily stay there again. The staff are brilliant, really helpful and easy to deal with. The on-site car park is very handy. About 5 minutes walk into the Old Port centre. Easily a 5 star hotel.

Getting to the hotel by car is a challenge due to the one way road system. Make sure you use the directions the hotel provides as it is easy to get lost in that part of the city.

Good breakfast and possibility to have parking space next door in the outside behind the street walls and high gate. Perfectly safe and easy to reach by Waze or the instructions that you will receive from the hotel. Great location. < 5 minutes from the port

Building is somewhat outdated and shower/toilet is rather small, but is compensated by spatious rooms and great location.
