Alex, Zena and Letitia were all very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. As we were staying for 4 nights we were upgraded to a larger room. We needed an extra blanket as we didn't like to use the heating at night and extra pillows and a blanket were all sorted for us promptly. They gave us great recommendations for restaurants etc. The location was fantastic. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice. The heating in the room was very efficient and the bed was very comfortable

Honestly I cannot think of anything we didn't like.

The hotel is in the old port area, surrounded by good restaurants and cafes. Ask the staff for recommendations if you like - they steered me well. It’s in a pedestrian area about 4 or 5 blocks from the closest parking. The hotel has a deal for 12 euros a day with the underground parking garage which is close to the Aquarium and the tourist office. It worked extremely well for me. (But good luck if your GPS doesn’t recognize where one-way streets are, or if some streets are reserved for buses and taxis). There is a tiny street about 25 feet long almost directly across from the hotel entrance that goes directly to the Promenade to save some steps. Breakfast was excellent- fresh croissants (I saw them pick the basket up at 7 am), plus a wide variety of other breakfast items. Rooms are small - but so what - you’re central. Extremely ultra modern art/decor in the rooms. Afternoon staff spoke English fluently, morning staff no, but that’s okay, too. Everyone so helpful! Exceptionally clean.

One side of the hotel faces onto a small plaza - student bars were noisy until they closed at 2 am. The fact that ear plugs are provided in the room is a tip off. But the windows or balcony door block the noise successfully- and there is A/C so you don’t need them open. Just be aware.

Lovely location in the Old Port in a busy atmospheric street. We stayed two nights, start & end of trip to Ile de Re and found the owners utterly delightful and helpful. They made us so welcome on both occasions and helped with luggage up stairs as no lift. We had breakfast one morning which was more than adequate. The second stay we had a small balcony which was very welcome. Ate at Walters next door which was excellent where we enjoyed tasty Tartiflette .

Nothing to dislike. Quite noisy late at night but preferred to sleep with doors open rather than use air con but did not spoil our stay, just part of living in a city.

We had a lovely stay here; its great asset is the charming and kind couple who run the place. The location is perfect for the quayside and historic centre, especially if you are walking up from the railway station. We were lucky enough to stay in one of the two top-floor rooms with balcony, with a view facing down the vibrant street and enough space for a table and two chairs. It was very clean. The breakfast set us up well for the day, with croissants, pastries and cakes. For a treat later on, there was a superb patisserie round the corner on the quay-front. We did not suffer with any street noise at night.

Even the balcony (superior?) room was quite tight for a couple with two big suitcases. There is no lift!

The location is excellent, just 500m from the big train station. It's on the trendy and expensive old town, but set back a street so the surroundings are cheaper. Go to the restaurant opposite and ask to see the wine list. They may lead you down to The Cellar. Which is a treat in itself .

You read that there's no lift, no TV, right? Rooms and passage ways are quite small but hey, it's an old building.

The Hotel ticked every box in terms of being the quintessential 'French' hotel! The staff were charming and helpful and ever willing to share their local knowledge. Breakfast was good and allowed you to start the day well...but best of all was the local, every pit of the old town was really within a stone's throw. If you want the genuine 'french' experience with visiting the old parts of La Rochelle, which are steeped in history, then the Bord'O should be high on your list!

nothing!

Very clean, central location. The rooms and hotel has a quirky nautical and port theme, and the rooms although small, are perfect for resting your head! We stayed in 2 different rooms due to extending our stay, and we had no complaints about the external noise from the street, but earplugs are available at reception if required. The staff are brilliant too, very helpful and a great level of English speaking. The car park is a couple of minutes walk away, but it’s well lit and safe, and underground.

Decor was fun, bed was comfy, bathroom was tiny but functional, located on a buzzy street right near the harbour.

We had bikes as we're touring on the bikes, and we needed to store them securely, and were told to lock them up down the road. I negotiated that we could bring them into the hotel after reception shut at 9pm but then the door was locked and the 24hour reception team were no where to be seen. It's a shame that unlike most hotels they didn't allow bikes to be stored in the room

The hotel is in a central location in the middle of the old town - just a few steps to the Vieux Port and to all the sights and bars and cafes and restaurants . The place is lovingly decorated and every nook has been put to a use. The windows are excellent quality, which is very important, as there are many bars in the streets below. With windows open it's quite loud and busy until the small hours - windows closed: no noise at all! The breakfast was good and the owner very nice and helpful.

The room was a bit on the small side and there was no lift.
