The stay at Hôtel Vaubecour was so much beyond my expectation. I literally wowed when seeing the digital piano in the dining room. The everyday piano time brought me so much peace. It was easy to find things to do around. One thing I would definitely remember about the city was the 2 beautiful rivers, which were in walking distance from the hotel. It calmed my mind when I walked alongside the river bank and saw people sit on the bank cozily. Besides picnic, some were even playing with the water with their feet or having a chat with the geese. How cute! Chuanying, owner of the hotel, was super considerate in everything, trying to provide the guests with the best travel experience. It was a blessing to know her. And the staff were friendly too, always wearing smiles on their faces. Q an adorable place. And such a charming city. À la prochaine !

Wonderful location, featuring impeccably designed classic rooms that exude charm. The cleanliness of the property is outstanding, and the staff goes above and beyond to be helpful. Notably, they offered clear and concise instructions for a seamless late-night self-check-in, ensuring a smooth process for obtaining the keys.

The hotel is a beautiful historical building with high ceilings and large windows, and with an elevator! The neighborhood is quiet and the staff is amazing. They went out of their way to accommodate us, going over and beyond. I have truly never met such flexible, kindhearted, and caring staff in all my travels. The breakfast was amazing, fresh from the bakery next door. A truly glamour French experience!

Location is great. Close to the Ampere metro station - 3 min walk. Location was good for sightseeing. For the metro and trams, you can buy a day pass for "family" and use it for 2 adults and 3 minors and it costs 6.70 euros a day. We were going to take the Rhone Express to the airport to fly out of LYS but pre-ordered an Uber for 49 euros to save ourselves from rolling our luggage to the metro station and having to change to the Rhone Express.

Our room did not have anywhere to hang our clothes. Some hooks would be nice and some hangers. When we arrived, it was a bit confusing on how to access the buidling. I rang the bell a few times before the 1st door opened and we had problems with the 2nd door until someone came down to open the door. The hotel is on the 2nd floor and the elevator is very small. Once you are given a key fob, access to the building is not an issue. However, I would be careful if you need to check in after 8 pm - you will definitely need to let them know.

The hotel is located within the UNESCO perimeter surrounding Old Lyon; all of the in this UNESCO area, including this hotel, are old and beautiful. Key sights like old churches, squares, river walks, shopping are easy to walk to in 10-15 minutes or less. Across the street is one of Lyon’s oldest traditional restaurants called bourbons, Abel; rich delicious and reasonably priced food. The hotel owner, Erica, is extremely nice and helpful; she is the secret ingredient making this hotel a find. It is on the second floor, accessible by a small elevator, without any street-level presence, but is well worth finding. Our room, 11, seems to be the largest in the hotel. It has a comfortable bed (king, I believe), a couch, fireplace (working?), and a refurbished bathroom. Quiet and restful even though it is a corner location facing two streets. Extremely good value and highly recommended.

I liked everything and would stay again if ever in Lyon.

I simply loved the Hotel Vaubecour. The room was elegant, comfortable and spotlessly clean. We had three long windows onto the street but I have to say that we were not aware of any street noise (the road is pretty quiet anyway)and the room was a warm, comfortable and peaceful sanctuary after long days of sightseeing in Lyon. All the staff were pleasant and helpful, but special thanks to Amber who greeted us when we arrived and was super friendly and helpful. We did not have breakfast in the hotel, but the breakfast room looked very nice and was beautifully decorated for Christmas. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and I would love to return sometime.

I can’t think of anything!

The staff was very welcoming and had a great communication when asked for an extra night. The hotel is located on the second floor of a historic building, which is a bit old but it is very well maintained and most importantly, spacious. The room is clean and very comfortable to sleep in. The bathroom seemed renovated with good water pressure. I traveled in middle November, so it was a bit chilly and the manager was very kind to lend a small electric heater, merci! The breakfast is served in the main dining area and they bring you a pre-fixed menu tray with coffee, croissants, cheeses, etc. which was very nice! It is located only 2 blocks from the river where you can cross into the Old Lyon town; and on the other direction, you can walk to the main square Bellecour in just 10 minutes.

The entrance to the hotel is a bit confusing as you need to enter through the main gates and stand in the hallway for a moment as you need to call first through the intercom screen to announce your arrival for the staff to come downstairs and open the main inner door for you. But after the initial logistics, you get a key and then it's easy to get in and out.

The room was fairly small, but it had a large cupboard, with a shelf, for hanging clothes, as you came into the room. The bed was very comfortable and the en suite was really lovely, very modern with a great large shower cubicle. The room was quite hot, as you couldn't open the window, but the large fan was very welcome, it was quiet so didn't disturb my sleep when l had it on all through the night.

It was very nice having a kettle and a choice of tea - tradition and fruit, or coffee, but it would have been even better if there had also been milk available. But to be fair l never asked for any milk!

Wonderful little hotel in a quiet, residential location, yet very close from the heart of city. I appreciated the cleanliness and I loved the hand soap and shower gel - so nice! Being a solo traveler I booked a small room, but I couldn’t have asked for more. The bed was comfortable, warm and loved having the tall, French window right next to it (plus that view of the inner yard!). All in all, everything was perfect and I am definitely thinking of coming back to Lyon and choose the same hotel to stay.

Nothing major - just the TV would randomly close and reopen by itself a few times. Don’t know if it was the satellite system or the TV had some issues. But I would only turn on the TV for some background “noise”, I wasn’t actually watching anyway… everything else was nice.
