Our hosts went out of their way to be helpful to us, including making phone calls to local bicycle shops when the one in Saint-Vaast-la-Hogue had no bicycles available for us to use. The breakfast was a classic French dejenuer and we were able to fill out a form to indicate specifically which items we wanted for breakfast, which was then set out for us in the morning. This was especially nice because then we didn't waste things like having juice put out for us that neither of us wanted (this had happened in other B&B settings and we always felt badly not drinking the juice). The room was large and the bathroom was huge. Lovely ancient building with a great yard. Parking was not on location, but they took care of it and it was relatively hassle free. Adelle is an artist and her work hangs in the home and is incorporated into the guest information booklet they provide in the room. A very unique property that we thoroughly enjoyed. Be aware that in Normandy if staying by the coast, there is a good likelihood you will be woken up by the sound of seagulls early in the morning unless you have a sound machine going. Not a terrible way to wake up, unless you hope to sleep in!

We were very satisfied and have no complaints that couldn't be resolved. The parking is not on location, but they still provide free parking and help you with that, including in our case, showing us where to park and assisting with luggage.

An excellent continental breakfast was provided, with juices, pastries, breads, yogurts, fruits and more to choose from, with your choice of drinks The rooms were very spacious, the bed was firm and nice and high. Unusually these days there were plenty of coat hangers and storage space. Although parking on hotel grounds was not possible, there was plenty of free parking nearby. Mathieu, the proprietor, was friendly and very helpful throughout our stay.

Despite the spacious room there was only one easychair to relax in.

Beautifully decorated old property which had every modern convenience. Unique artwork throughout (mostly by Adele who is so talented we had to visit her gallery in town and make some purchases!) with an eclectic mix of furnishings which worked perfectly together. Very comfortable throughout. Spacious garden with lots of private little seating areas which are perfect for a drink or snack or an al fresco lunch. Mathieu is a complete superstar and nothing was too much trouble for him. Prior to our arrival he booked a taxi to meet us from the train in Valognes as we were travelling without a car. He also made several phone calls while we were there to arrange more taxis as our plans changed. Location is perfect, near town but lovely and quiet and also near the coast. Lots of great walks around and plenty of choice for dinner.

Can’t think of anything I would change.

Mathieu and Adèle were impeccable hosts. We are regular visitors to St Vaast but this was the first time to L’Ermitage. The property is beautiful and the pictures on here do not do it justice. It’s right near the centre and is beautifully quiet. The breakfasts were super, and the rooms were spacious, traditional and well decorated. We even bought some of the owner’s very reasonably priced artwork.

Nothing at all, it was super. Exceeded all expectations.

A happy return to a favourite town - and a good location within it. Despite holiday period there was no problem with nearby overnight on-street car parking every day - as Mathieu had assured us.

Nothing to do with L'Ermitage, and not greatly bothered, but circumstances meant that our visit was at a busier time of year than preferred. Restaurants tended to be more crowded than previously experienced and reservations essential.

The room was excellent, more of a suite with large bathroom. It was very quiet but convenient for walking to the harbour and restaurants. Fabulous breakfast, all very fresh and as you order what you want it’s all ready for you at the table.

Can’t think of anything we didn’t like.

We had a large comfortable room in a charming house a very short walk from the picturesque harbour. There is plenty of choice in nearby restaurants so evening meals are no problem.

The parking could have been closer, but at least it was free!

The chambre d'hote was in the home of Mathieu and Adele. She is a local artist with a gallery in St Vaast, and the room was festooned with her works. Tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge were available in the corridor outside the huge room that we had. Enormous bed, and wide-screen television. The property was in an extremely central location

We had a lovely large double room ( would of liked 2 armchairs though) but it was super clean , huge bed , lovely bathroom with excellent shower and the continental breakfast was excellent . Matthieu was a good host and always came for a little chat and making sure we had everything we needed

Nothing really (just would have liked one more armchair in room for sitting to read for an hour
