Unbeatable location 2 blocks from RER Versailles Rive Gauche and 4 blocks from RER Versailles Chantiers. Small but well kept. Reviews that say no elevator are outdated: They have a nice elevator that fits three people with luggage. Owner-managed. Philippe and Sylvie were very kind and accommodating. They kept our bags the whole day while we toured Versailles. The family room was surprisingly spacious and quiet. Bathroom with double sink looked recently remodeled. Big windows to the courtyard with plenty of fresh air and natural light. Coffee shop and outstanding boulangerie/patisserie just a few steps down the block for all your meal needs. Outstanding value.

Beautiful stay! Breakfast was excellent and incredibly varied. They had this absolutely delicious homemade jam that I wish I could bring home with me! The room was very pleasant; it was cozy and clean. I also love that they have a very special touch with an eco-friendly hair and body wash available for guests to use, and it smells so good! The location is great—very near the Château de Versailles. Not even 10 minutes away by foot. The hotel managers, Sylvie and Phillipe, are both true examples of excellent hospitality! They were always so friendly, patient, and helpful. That impressed me the most. THANK YOU!

Everything was excellent.

The breakfast was great. Plenty of choice with good taste. The staff was welcoming me very warmly. When I asked for good restaurants nearby, the staff was also very friendly and explained in detail with a map. The room is very large and it is exactly the same as the photos.

I arrived before check-in time so I saved my luggages at the front desk. I am grateful of this service. However, I was a bit upset seeing that they put a sticker on my backpack, because the glue stayed on the backpack for a period of time. If anyone minds about this, you can tell the staff in advance, maybe they will use a paper instead.

Likeable staff, perfect organisation and communication. Breakfast was excellent including home-made jogurths, marmalade/jam and/or cakes and was served by a waiter/waitress. The position of the hotel is very good - very close to the Versailles palace/Versailles congress centre (ca 5 minutes walk) and to the rail statitions (ca 5 minutes walk to Versailles Chateu and 10 minutes walk to Versailles Chantiers), city buses stop directly in front of the hotel.

Quite small wardrobe (on the other hand, there was a cabinet in the bathroom and a small coat rack in the bedroom). Relatively busy street where the hotel is situated.

This is a good 2 star hotel. The owners/operators take pride in their property - everything was well maintained and clean.

There were some quirks….when I inquired about public transportation to the train station, the owner told me that a ticket was needed prior to boarding. It turns out we could pay the fare in cash (2 Euros). Also when I called upon arrival asking them to call a cab, the front desk was unwilling to do so. We have difficulty getting a taxi or Uber and ended up walking with our suitcases. The front desk could have suggested taking the bus….which stops across from the hotel.

The front desk people were extremely helpful and friendly. The lift was a little bigger than usual so four people could get into it. There are two fabulous restaurants nearby and one can easily walk to the Chateau.

We didn’t have a fridge in our room and there weren’t kettles in any of the rooms. No aircon, either but it was all right with the window open though that let the street noise in, of course. But it was great value and we would go back.

Great location and, in all honesty, everything you could need for a quick stopover in Versailles to visit the Palace and grounds. Public parking - we were there in August - was very straightforward and just a 200m walk from the front door.

Well, the lift is small and there was one cracked tile in the bathroom but, that apart, there was nothing to dislike about this really well situated and excellent value hotel.

Location. Very close to train station and an easy walk to the Palace. This is a rare find in Europe, an old hotel with a lift!! For us it meant everything . Better than it's 2 star rating. Beds and pillows comfy. We arrived quite early in the day and Philip was able to offer us our room about 90 minutes earlier than check in, which was so helpful after 30+ hours travelling from Australia.

Bathroom could do with a make over, but clean.

At the Royal Hotel Versailles you feel at home, I had a wonderful experience from the day I arrived until I left. Ideal location for several visits to the Palace of Versailles and the surrounding area. Extremely friendly staff, welcoming and always happy to help you thank you Madame Sylvie and Monsieur Philipe. The rooms, very clean and perfect for a few days. Generous breakfast. Definitely recommend for all friends and family. To do again.

Room a bit small

What a pleasant surprise. From the outside looked a bit older and well worn but once inside found it super clean with a staff that far exceeded our expectations. Breakfast was worth more than the price charged. Homemade jams and breads were great and the service second to none. Highly recommended. Many restaurants close by, their choice for us was excellent.

Parking a bit tough, but only a short walk. You can park close to the entrance to drop your bags.
