Just WOW! What a cool experience to have stayed in a hotel that is part of a 12th Century medieval town wall! This property does not play up its historical value enough. The rooms are a tad dated but it fits with overall vibe and was very comfortable and convenient. The views of the valley are stunning! The location is exceptional and rooms are very quiet. We will be recommending this to all of our friends for years to come. Parking is also very easy and reasonable (€10/night). Unload your car first because there's no elevator and then the reception will show you the locked garage up the street (very close and convenient).

I first stayed at this hotel going on for 35 years ago. It hasn’t changed one bit! Herr Berger, now 85, still works there all day, immaculate in his suit and perfectly charming at all times. The rooms are the same, elegantly timeless furniture, immaculately clean and with wonderful views over the valley and gardens. The breakfast is still the same, bread, ham, cheese, cereal, eggs and wonderful jams. Nothing has changed, so don’t expect it to! If you want lifts, air conditioning, modern interiors and slick service, then Rothenburg and the Burg Hotel are probably not for you. If you want old fashioned gentility, peace and quiet and a charming host, then you couldn’t find a better place to stay

We were first greeted by such a darling gentleman, who is the owner, dressed in his suit and tie. He was such a kind man and told us since they had had a last minute cancellation, they would move us to some upgraded rooms. Let me tell you, the rooms were beautiful, classy and adorable, with the most amazing views!!!! The breakfast was so delicious with many options and fresh food. Our stay here was exceptional!!! Thank you for making our stay so memorable. Your kindness and hospitality, not to mention your hotel, were all above and beyond what we ever expected. Thank you so much for such a wonderful stay!!!!!

Absolute nothing!!!!!

Room size was good and so was the bathroom. Very nice bath (but can be slippy if you use it as a shower). Lovely view of the Taube valley from the breakfast room. Eggs are cooked to order. Short walk to town centre and the Christmas market. If you have an hour or two to spare there are some very nice walks (on surfaced paths) around the vineyards and down to the old river bridge. We went for the Christmas market but the architecture of the town would make it well worth a visit at any time of year.

Be aware that the hotel is on four floors with no lift, so may be unsuitable for some. I managed to close the safe but could not open it. Luckily I always test safes before putting any valuables in. I was told none of the hotel safes are working correctly - parts are unavailable due to the Ukraine war.

This is a small, cosy and well maintained family run hotel in a convenient but quiet location just a few minutes walk from the town centre. We stayed in a pleasant room with a four poster bed and small living area with windows on two sides offering pleasant views. The room was nice and warm even though outside was -2. We parked our car in the hotels private and secure garage for €15 which was great. We ate twice at a lovely restaurant called der Reichskuchenmeister which was excellent and is just a few minutes walk away. The historic town is very pretty and I would not hesitate to stay at this friendly hotel again.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel, and it exceeded our expectations in every way. The location was truly unique, situated directly on part of the old city wall, offering breathtaking views of the valley below. It was the perfect spot to take in the history and charm of the area. Our room was immaculately clean and comfortable, with extra towels already provided, which was a thoughtful touch. The bed was comfortable, and the room was well-appointed with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The breakfast was excellent, with eggs cooked to our request, and a wide selection of other options to start our day off right. But what really made our stay stand out was the exceptional service from the staff. Every person we interacted with was friendly, helpful, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and supported. One example of the hotel's exceptional service was when we checked out, they allowed us to keep our car in the garage for a few extra hours, so we could continue exploring the town without having to repark in another location. They also invited us to use the bathroom facilities before starting our trip home, which was a thoughtful gesture that showed they truly cared about our comfort and convenience. We were so impressed with our stay that we will absolutely return to this hotel to continue our explorations of the area. The combination of its unique location, comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast, and exceptional service makes it the perfect choice for anyone looking to experience the best of this beautiful town. We can't wait to come back and enjoy it all again!

In years of personal and business travel, I don't ever write a review, although this time is very different. From the moment you walk into the foyer to check in, to the thoughfulness for an appropriate parking place for an oversized van in a very secure parking garage and to a beautifully handwritten checkout invoice (signed by Mr. Otto), staying at Burghotel was a delight. Thank you, Otto and his kind daughter, for making our visit to Rothenburg a wonderful experience. Here's to health, happiness for you both, and many happy guests to Burghotel!

Simply superb from the arrival where we were met and told where to park in a private courtyard. The room was pristine, with lovely views over the valley and a comfy bed. Staff are exceptional and breakfast was un limited with again lovely views over the valley. Its easy to get to and interesting driving through the 2 gatehouses - the roads are wide enough and easy to locate the hotel

Could have stayed longer, there was nothing not to like

This property was absolutely charming! The town of Rothenburg is like a storybook. We had a family of five, two adults, and three teenagers, and booked a family style room. It turns out that we had our own house, multilevel, just up the road from the main entrance to the hotel. Our doors opened up to a grand backyard of topiary and grass, with a view of the wall and tower beyond. Some of the accommodations were a bit dated, but that was to be expected in this type of older hotel, and we did not mind at all. It was clean, and the washer and dryer were an added bonus to do some laundry before the next leg of our trip. The owners father, Otto, could not have been more delightful, or helpful. He made sure to offer the chance to order breakfast for a reasonable price, and allowed us to stay in the house a little longer while our laundry finished drying. He was a pleasure to speak with. We adored this town, and our piece of the hotel. Also, if you had someone who could not climb the stairs, there was a downstairs bedroom that you could add to your reservation, otherwise it was locked.

Oh. I loved the dreaminess of this place. Already rothenburg is just magical and to sleep in this gorgeous hotel by the outside walls was a dream come true. Right from the many roses outside to the lovely Otto the concierge who had the graceful attitude that you could only find if you travel back in time. Then there was my room. The bavarian suite if im not mistaken. I was moved. And speechless. The forest views. The bed with the "baldacchino" the impeccable bathroom. The delighful wall paper! The breakfast was also very good indeed.

If only the upper baby grand was well tuned i would have spent hours playing the piano in the cosy living room. But then i wouldnt have gone around Rothenburg. There was nothing i didnt like.
