Spectacular stay!! This is the best place in town (and I've spent a lot of time in Rothenburg). The rooms are beautiful, the location is exceptional (right on the site of the old medieval charnel house chapel and directly across from the St. Jakob church one block from the market square). The restaurant is also the best in town. Really the best place in Rothenburg!

The hotel is wonderful and very centrally located in Rothenburg. They offer garage parking, which is quite literally an 8-10 car garage about a block away. We didn't need the car at all when we were there, the entire town is walkable. Breakfast is typical European breakfast and is scheduled in 30 minute increments to not overwhelm the dining room. Rooms were lovely and roomy, with great views of the town.
My only issue was not with the hotel, but with Booking.com. We were traveling with 5 people and needed 3 rooms. When reserving my rooms through Booking.com, it required me to input the names of each traveler. Unbeknownst to me, when I put in the names of my 5 travelers, it ended up booking me for 5 rooms. I didn't find this out until I got to the hotel. The hotel staff was nice about it, and said that if they could rent out the other 2 rooms, they wouldn't charge me for them, but in the end they were not, so I had to pay for 2 rooms that I did not use. I don't blame the hotel for that, but the Booking.com site was very misleading and I will not use that site to book rooms again. A house maybe, but not hotel rooms.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Reichsküchenmeister. It was a beautiful, charming hotel. The rooms were very nice and clean, the staff was kind and helpful, and although we only ate breakfast at the restaurant, the food was really good. It's only steps away from the market square, so it was easy to pop back into the room to drop off purchases or take a quick break. Pro tip: reserve your parking when you book your room.
One thing to note: the hotel has additional rooms in a second building around the corner from the main building, which is where we stayed. We were looking forward to staying in the main hotel with its traditional rooms, whereas the rooms in the annex building are much more modern and uniform (based on the few we saw). If you're looking to stay in the main hotel, I would definitely make sure you make that request.

Very welcoming staff, even escorting us to our room. Great spa, with everything nicely arranged in advance for our use. Big room and comfortable bed. There’s a nice restaurant—a bit pricey, but convenient with nice staff. Location is perfect right in the center of Old Town and easy walk from the train station.
Room was cold (late November) and when we inquired a rude woman told us the heat was on (not!), so we stayed cold. And for a nice hotel, why have two bottles of water in the center of the room for 2.50 euro each? A small bottle of gratis water like most nice hotels would be appreciated.

The hotel is in a very nice location in historic Rothenburg. It is about a block away from the town square and everything within the town is within walking distance. If you want to save some money and go to the local grocery store it is about a 1/2 mile walk from the hotel where you can buy water and other food for a lot cheaper and avoid the tourist prices. We had a rental car and they have parking close to the property, where one of the staff follows you to the parking area with a golf cart. They loaded our bags, brought them to our room for us, and gave us a tour of the room. If you are an American traveling to Europe, make sure you go to Amazon and buy a European-style adapter plug that works in Germany. The voltage is 230 volts, but your computer and cell phone charges are dual voltage, meaning they will work in Germany. The breakfast buffet was very good, it was a combination of European-style and American-style breakfast. They have the normal selection of scrambled eggs, sausages, different types of bread, croissants, European cheeses, fruit spreads, various juices, fresh fruit, and grains if you are watching your cholesterol. You are greeted when you first walk in to the restaurant for breakfast and we ordered a fresh cappuccino. Remember to ask for a time slot for each day if you are staying more than one day for breakfast, as they start serving at 7:30 and have limited slots.
I can't really think of anything, that we could improve on. The stay was very pleasant.

Location was central and very near the main square. It's also beside where the Christmas markets are located. The breakfast was typical of a hotel in Germany but it was one of the best we had on this trip. The staff and reception were all very friendly and helpful and someone always spoke good enough english to communicate well. A good historical hotel/building that has been updated just enough to enjoy the more modern amenities without losing the historical feel.
Minor qualm: Access to our parked car had to be requested so that a staff had to go with you to open the gate which can be a bit of a hassle if you need to go back to the car several times. A more major request is to get beds that are more hotel standard in firmness. We didn't get that good quality of sleep because the bed, although very clean, was too soft for our travel-worn middle aged bodies.

The food was excellent.
We thought we were paying for a room in the main building but stayed in a modern room, when we chose the hotel for its character and charm… so expected what we saw in the picture.

This hotel has a number of factors that we feel make it overall one of the best we have stayed at during our travels. The location is central to all major attractions, the restaurant on site is very good, the sauna is absolutely fantastic, the staff are helpful and spoke English, there is parking available in a garage about a short distance away. Furnishings are lovely and a historically relevant to the culture.
We arrived late due to traffic and roadworks and it was a bit hard to find.

This was the perfect stay for our one night visit to Rothenburg ob der tauber for the Christmas markets. The room was comfortable, had lift access and was exceptionally quiet. The shower over bath was an odd design but we figured it out. The bed was quite small however manageable. The staff were very friendly and helped us get our bags to our room in the annex building along with finding the car park. Definitely try the on site restaurant while you are there. The dinner was delicious!
The pillows in the room were exceptionally soft feather pillows. It would have been good if there were some firmer foam pillows available as well.

September 2023. Very NIce Room. We were on the second floor (3rd in EU terms). Discovered Elevator available after day 2. Big Bathroom, Heated drying rack and retractable drying line in bathroom were great for light-packing laundry needs. Air Conditioning a definite plus. Great location, Super close to the main plaza in-town. Church Bells at 7am 8am 9am, but not so bad. Quiet street at night. The included breakfast was a plus. The restaurant attached was very good for dinner. Never could figure out how to take advantage of the Weinstube (Wine Bar). Friendly and helpful staff.
