I had a huge room. Everything necessary was in - hair dryer, fridge, kettle and of course furniture. Before arriving I asked if could I have an iron and it was in the room when I came. There is a 24/7 convenience store near the hotel. The building is in the city center, be ready that sometimes it can be loud outside. The hotel is in a beautiful historical building with a high ceiling. I was afraid that it could be too light at night but the room's windows have comfortable doors. And a lot of mirrors were helpful!

A blanket was small. One of the table lamps didn't work. In the evening chandelier lit too much but the table lamp light was not enough. But it was a tiny uncomfortable thing.

The hotel was very quiet and immaculately clean. It has a solid, Old World feel, which we liked. There was a refrigerator and electric kettle in the room - a great plus! The bed was very comfortable. There were two nice soft stuff chairs for sitting and reading, plus a desk and additional chair. The bathroom was big and the hot water in the bath/shower was hot. There is apaprently a full kitchen on the ground floor that guests can use between 8am and 8pm, though we forgot to check it out, so never used or saw it. The neighborhood is just slightly outside the tourist center, and therefore populated by locals, i.e., not tourists, which we like. There are lots of stores/restaurants all around and a supermarket right on the corner. Great location. It is about 200 meters from Budapest's Central Market and the Danube River, and only 15 minute walk from the Gellert Thermal Spa and Gellert Mountain Park. It is close to lots of transportation including the airport express bus (100E) and the metro.

Almost everything! The receptionist/concierge staff were wonderful. It was an easy walk from/to the airport shuttle's dropoff and pickup stops, and only a couple of blocks from the huge historic central market (and an Aldi) as well as from a nightlife area and restaurants of every nationality you can think of. The beautiful historic building was a delight -- but with a lift! And Biedermeier furniture....

The room was a little small -- but the extra space went to a tub, a travel luxury I was really looking forward to. We also had bad luck in sharing the charming little balcony that serves two corner rooms with a smoker. It would have been a perfect place otherwise to feel transported to an indulgent past!

The appartement is well situated close to the market but also stores, restaurants, and bath. It is easy to go anywhere by bus from it. The appartement was big with a huge bathroom. Beds were also comfortable with no back pain after 5 days. AC was greatly appreciated during a heatwave. Staff at the reception was friendly and helpful. I would recommend it with no hesitation.

Breakfast on the second floor (not the big room next to the reception) was just ok. Coffee was cold. Milk was room temperature. Limited variety. Most importantly the staff in charge of the breakfast didn’t careless of us. Main reason might be that they didn’t speak English.

Everything was just as described, location was perfect, near the Danube, central for sight seeing. There were lots of restaurants around, and lots of takeaways. Everything you need, nothing you didn't need. Clean and warm, and the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. I will return later in the year, and happily rebook this hotel. Many thanks for a great stay. Sorry, I nearly forgot, the breakfast was a cold plate with hams salamis and cheese bread and pastries. For the money I think fantastic value. Steve Jolly

This is a great value! I enjoyed staying at Kalvin House. LOCATION: Kalvin House is near the 100e airport shuttle's Kalvin Ter stop, as well as the 47/48/49 tram. It is also around the corner from Central Market Hall. There is also a little supermarket catty-corner from the property. THE ROOM: I loved the traditional parquet floors and the antique style furniture. The beds are a little squeaky, but not a problem. The room also had a mini-fridge and a drying rack--both convenient additions that we appreciated. (Chill your Túró Rudi candy bar in the fridge! Hang your still-damp bathing suit and towel up to dry after a day at the thermal baths!) THE BATHROOM: Spacious enough. Included toiletries and an ample supply and toilet paper. THE SERVICE: We were greeted at reception by an exceptionally gracious and kind host. Truly 5-star service. He ensured that we had all the proper door codes for the building, gave recommendations for where to dine, and made sure that I had enough pillows. : ) (Thank you!!!!) BREAKFAST: The breakfast ranks among the best BnB breakfast I've ever had! I appreciate the inclusion of fresh vegetables. There is a vegetarian option which includes a bowl of fresh fruit, additional vegetables, and hummus. I'm not vegetarian, but I really enjoyed this option.

The only downside of our room was that there was some noise from the street below--some exuberant folks enjoying their night out; however, nothing offensive or loud enough to interfere too much with sleep. We are partially to blame for this, of course, because the noise was mostly muffled by closing both sets of windows.

This property was wonderful!! The room was amazing and spacious, as was the bathroom. The bed was comfortable, and the room had everything one needed (clothes horse, hair dryer, kettle, fridge, TV, aircon). The receptionist was absolutely wonderful and happy to help us with whatever we needed. He was a joy to talk to and we really appreciated his help. We will absolutely stay here again next time we're in Budapest, as its the perfect location, right next to the market hall and the metro.

One of the lamps wasn't working, and there was no plug for the bathtub.

The hotel is easy to approach due to its central location. Kálvin Square is a good hub for public transportation (subway, tram, buses) and a good starting point for trips. Therefore, the location of this hotel is excellent! A lot of tourist attractions are within just a few minutes. The rooms and public areas were clean and well-maintained. The bed sheets and towels were nice and clean. The staff was professional and very kind. The room was good and well-furnished. The temperature in the room was always good. Checking in and out went smoothly. They also have luggage storage which is very useful when you need to check out in the morning but your plane leaves in the evening. The storage is large enough to fit regular checked-in luggage. The room itself was relatively silent, especially when I closed the windows. However, there was a noisy object in the room; see below.

The refrigerator in the room was noisy. It woke me up a few times during the night when it started its compressor. The pressure in the shower was not the best, and setting the proper water temperature was also challenging. There was very little difference between releasing steaming hot or freezing cold water.

The building is a lovely typical old building (circa 1860s?) of Budapest on the ‘Pest’ side (the lively part) of the city. It is very close to the Grand Central Market and easy to walk into main Pest from there. The scale of Kalvin House is grand and the rooms enormous with very high ceilings and have an opulent feel about them. The room is well furnished with modern furniture that looks every bit as though it were from the late 19th century. The bathroom and shower all worked well and always hot water available in a few moments of turning on the taps, which for a building of this age and scale is impressive. The breakfast area looks and feels like a 5* hotel….wonderful period space and modernised and beautifully presented. There are lockers for luggage if you arrive before the 2pm checkin. Staff are very helpful and considerate. The Hungarian breakfasts are enormous and the air conditioning unit in our room worked well, when needed. The modern lift in the beautiful old stairwell worked well.

There are the old style double windows with wooden shutters which are a lovely feature though still let-in a lot of light causing us to wake early in the late May/June bright mornings. The curtains looked lovely but couldn’t be drawn, given they were feature curtains for style. There was nothing “we didn’t like”, which would stop us recommending the place to others. We’d stay again, for sure. However, the building is old and whilst we loved it’s elegance, some may look at the peeling paint on the outside of the windows of their room and the old main entrance doorway, as being a sign of the place being faded elegance……so what, we loved it!

Kelvin House has a great location close the market and the river. We were able to use the washing machine which was a very nice option! We had a refrigerator which was great especially to keep cold water on hand since it was quite warm during our stay. Our room was clean and quiet.

While you do have use of the kitchen on the main floor I would have liked to have had a French press or some other way to make coffee in the room. We did have an electric hot water pitcher and could make tea though.
