The guesthouse suited our needs very well. There were 6 of us in 3 twin rooms. These were basic but clean and comfortable. We just needed a base close to the city centre and this guesthouse was perfect. About 5-10 minutes walk into town. Check-in was fine. Our room details were taped to the main door of the guesthouse and keys were in the room. We had no need to contact staff but there is a number if needed. We organised our own transfer taxi and tour but the guesthouse can help with this too. The guesthouse was very good value on a room only basis and suited our group needs.

There was nothing I didn't like. Our needs were basic and we traveled on a budget. This guesthouse suited these needs. I would look for something a little more luxurious and larger if I were with my family. I was with a group of 5 friends and we really only required a base to explore from.

First of all I have say, what a terrific location. Literally 10 mins walking distance to the beautiful city centre. There is also free parking on the street which saves you a lot of money, you just sometimes have to do a few laps to find one but usually early morning or late evening there is a free space. The apartment was cleaned everyday and bin emptied which was lovely. They provided the coffee pads for the coffee machine which was great. GREAT shower pressure. English TV channels too. Plenty of outlets as well. Really warm property too! It was a great stay and I want to thank the host. REALLY good value for money. I would recommend it. Also we had a visit from the owners most adorable and friendly golden retriever!

There wasn’t a lot that I didn’t like about the property. If I had to mention something, there was no oven or microwave. No freezer. The sofa in the living room wasn’t massively comfy. Extra towels possibly. But otherwise we had a great stay here!!

Galtafell is a beautiful, well managed house. We felt very welcome and taken care of throughout our stay. The room was big for local standards, had excellent ventilation, heating, a spacious bathroom and quality furniture. It is very easy to get to, 5 minutes walk from the BSI and to the city centre.

The location was wonderful and within walking distance of the main town of Reykjavik. The service from the hosts were wonderful and were quick to respond. The facilities themselves were clean and comfortable.

It was advertised that there would be a microwave available but in the apartment we were in there wasn’t one, which made heating food up impossible. Also, the parking availably around the Guesthouse was incredibly limited as it was all street parking in a primarily residential area. The best bet would be to get there as soon as everyone checks out to attempt to get a parking spot within reasonable distance.

Guesthouse Galtafell is located in a beautiful and central spot in Reykjavik. We loved this Mansion Area that is just a few 100m from Hallgrimskirkja. There is free parking just next to the house and we didnt have trouble finding a parking spot at any time. The room had a good size (enough space), the bed was good, bathroom nice and clean. Having a Kettle & a Microwave was very convenient. Price for Value was really good in our oppinion. There is no community space (we knew this) which was also not needed. No breakfast available (not needed in Reykjavik either). Would return!

Self Check in is a thing in Iceland we learned - I don't think it's ideal on your first day of arrival which I assume Reykjavik often is. Nonetheless, Self-Check in at Galtafell was very detailled and perfectly guiding and Thorey the Manager at Galtafell was getting in touch to make sure all is fine and available for questions. Also the window into the yard towards other rooms felt a bit odd at the beginning, but wasnt a problem at all in the end.

Everything was very clean and the bed was very comfy. The necessary things were in the room such as kettle, tea, coffee, sugar, creamer some cups and paper towels as well as a small fridge. I asked for some detergent to get rid of a stain I had gotten in a sweater and the staff gave us some right away. There is free parking on the street and downtown is a 7ish min walk (depending of the amount of snow). Would love to come back!

I thought there was access to the main house as seen in the pictures. Not that it was necessary I just thought we could enter, maybe use a microwave and say hi to the dog in the pictures. Really nothing negative, this place was great.

Airbnb-style setup, providing basic cooking and dining utensils, which is great if you plan to make simple meals. They also offer tea and coffee facilities. We had two toilets, a shower, a living area with a sofa bed, and a dining table. The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean and good heating. Despite only staying one night, we felt satisfied. Parking in Reykjavík can be tricky, but the guesthouse we booked is allowed for free public street parking. We checked in at 8 PM without reception, but they prepared our keys in advance. Communication was smooth, and we always received prompt responses to our queries, even regarding our check-in concerns. We left so early the next day, check out is easy by just informing them and leaving the keys in the room. The guesthouse is conveniently located near Hallgrímskirkja, the Rainbow Road, and various restaurants and stores, maybe 10–20-minute walk If you don't have a car and prefer group tours just staying in Reykjavik only, I highly recommend this guesthouse. I checked several hotels, but many either don't offer free parking or have limited spaces on a first-come, first-served basis, which we found inconvenient. If you're a solo traveler on a budget, staying in a hostel is a great option. However, if you're traveling with friends and prefer more privacy, this guesthouse is ideal. You can cook basic meals and save money by not eating out as much.

The miscommunication during our check in but it was resolved promptly.

The one bedroom apartment was clean and had all necessary amenities. There was a table to eat at, chairs to lounge in and a comfortable sleeping space in the bedroom. The bathroom and shower were very spacious as well. This location is in very easy walking distance (8-12 minutes) to all of the important sites you’d want to visit. Some great coffee shops and restaurants nearby. Thorey was very helpful during our stay and a gracious host.

I don’t have any complaints, just a reminder for travelers that the kitchen isn’t ideal for cooking, because in the apartment we were in the space was very limited so maybe consider doing easy prep meals if you plan on eating at the apartment.

The location is just a 5-minute walk from the main bus station. The room includes various amenities, daily cleaning, and more. The host is friendly and welcoming. The room is equipped with heaters. It’s located behind the BSÍ bus terminal. The best part is that staying here helps you save both time and money when booking tours.

The room was a bit small, and it would be convenient if a common area had a microwave to heat up food. Although the host kindly offered to heat the food for us, we felt it wasn't ideal to disturb them frequently."

The guesthouse is very strategically close both to the city centre and the bus terminal (from which the buses to the airport depart directly, with no need to book for the drop off/ pick up service), but at the same is in a quiet and very green residential area. The room is small (but it was clear from the pictures posted, so no surprises there) but very clean and comfortable. Thorey was a great host and ready to help when I called her before arriving, and left very specific instructions for us regarding our stay. Lovely dog too!

I’d say it’s fine as it is, it’s really a nice accommodation for those who plan to just sleep there and little more. It might be a little tight if you want to spend a long time inside.
