This place is all about location: You can walk wherever you want to go in Reykjavík. While that is true of some hotels, a lot of the big chain hotels are further out of the city and here, you get value with location. The owner also runs the restaurant downstairs (which doubles as a lobby/breakfast room) and prepares fresh breakfast in the morning. All in all, you can't go wrong here!
The place is not new and it shows. Given the value and location, this certainly shouldn't keep you from booking though.

Location is really convenient to many sights and activities in Reykjavik. Easy walking distance to central shopping/eatery pedestrianised streets. Not really that much further on from the harbour area, museums, galleries, etc as well. It was priced as simple but comfortable accommodation and that's essentially what it delivered. It's for somebody looking for a base to be out and about for most of the time. Entry accessible at all times, with a double entry via the rear and secure door (mind, Iceland starts-out as one of the safest countries you can visit). The room had a sink, kettle and microwave and so you could make something simple (7-11type mini-supermarket, just next door). Whizz 250m or so down the road to the excellent (& very popular) Brauð & Co. bakeries for one of their cinnamon buns or similar. Then, make yourself a coffee and that will set you up for the morning and leave a bit of money in the pot for lots of other things to do (which, in Iceland are quite pricey). Hotel is paired its own Vietnamese restaurant, downstairs. Of two meals I had, the Bánh mì (a sort of sandwich) was satisfying; two Australians on an adjacent table who were very familiar with Vietnamese cuisine commented that it was very good, too.

The price was excellent and it’s only a 5 minute walk from the main strip in the city centre. My room was small but that was fine as I was travelling solo and was only using the room for sleeping in. It’s right next to the beautiful church which was always a nice touch to see that when walking back to your hotel in the evenings. The bed was super comfy and the room is very clean too. You also get your own fridge, microwave and kettle too which is really handy. Would defo recommend to anyone travelling solo and on a budget.
There wasn’t any handwash so I needed to buy some. Could have had more bins and more towels too. But this wasn’t a major issue.

My room was basic but consistently clean and warm. But I can’t say enough about the location - location was INCREDIBLE!! You can walk right out the door and be in the middle of all the downtown Reykjavík shopping and dining options + the no. 8 bus stop (Hallgrímskirkja) is a <2-minute walk from front door (and happens to be one of the main pick-up points for excursions outside of Reykjavík!)

I liked this hotel a lot. The room I got was very comfy, the bed was nice and everything worked really well. I did not know that I was going to have a mini bar, microwave and some dishes. That was really nice. They allow you to check-in late with very clear instructions, in my case while I was arriving one of the workers saw me and made sure I got to my room, he opened the door for me and carried my heavy luggage. That was super nice and a great start for my stay. The hotel is simple but it is very nice, you get what you pay for.
To be honest I was a little bit worried about past reviews I read but once I arrived I could not understand what the problems were. The only detail is that the elevator did not work but that was fine for me.

Great location. Good facilities in the room. Next to a supermarket
There was a continuous banging noise upstairs to my room every day. Luckily it stopped at night time

They accommodated my tight schedule and provided good instructions on how to get in and out of the hotel during the night when the reception area is closed. The location was excellent next to the large church and statue of Lief E. With being at the top of the hill, it was very easy to navigate in the city and not worry about getting lost because all you had to do was look for the church at the top of the hill and it was easy to find your way back. The electric scooters that are hanging around are very easy to set up and use and make getting around on the hilly streets very manageable and fun.
I think it was kind of funny that in the building the hotel is located in there is an Elevator on the ground floor that isn't connected in any way to the hotel itself, so there was a moment of sadness when I realized I had to carry my bags all the way up the stairs.

Good location, walking distance from bus stop, the catedral and airport bus terminal. Employee/owner very solicit to help my demands, thanks! I chose a room with private bathroom, which had an excellent price considering Reykjavik is very expensive and you get tired and cold from the tours, praying for a hot shower and bed.
Nothing really. The building is old, so are the rooms, although this is expected based on the location and surrounding arquitecture. Note: There is in fact some smell in the water, but according to local guides, this is due to the thermal water used in the city, so there is nothing the hotel can do and it is not as unpleasant as some reviewers wrote. I recommend the hotel.
