Our stay at Alam Jiwa was one of the best we’ve ever had. The rooms were pristine and extremely comfortable, surrounded by stunningly beautiful nature. It is perfectly located away from the madness of central Ubud, while still being very walkable, though there are also some fantastic eating spots nearby. However, it was the team at Alam Jiwa who really made our stay so unforgettable - from the huge, family-like welcome to the 2am volcano trek breakfast boxes, nothing was ever too great an ask for them. We couldn’t recommend Alam Jiwa (and its employees) enough.

That we couldn’t stay longer.

The staff was wonderful. The apartment was nice with a beautiful view of the rice fields. We enjoyed the breakfast very much. The juice served is marvelous. The location is very quiet and the hotel itself is original Bali style. Built near the jungle with fruit trees around you and the tranquilizing sound of running water, you get the sensation of walking in The Gardens of Eden.

The only thing we didn't really like was that we had booked full board. The hotel has no kitchen facilities so all food comes from outside as take away. Even though the staff makes a great effort to serve the food the best possible way, it gets boring after at few days always have to select from the same few dishes. At the end, we knew the menu card by heart, and on the last days we skipped lunch and dinner and had something outside. Besides being takeaway, full board is also very much overpriced for what you get. So, I cannot recommend the meals beside breakfast, but we loved everything else.

Room was well appointed and it was actually pretty big. The sitting and lounging area were pretty great too. Bathroom was super clean and the outdoor shower was a nice touch. Breakfast service was also pretty good. Staff was excellent, super helpful and extremely friendly.

Rooms could use a little more lighting. it was pretty dark in the room (the dark wood didnt help the cause). The bath towels were very very small. As awesome at the stay and location of the hotel are, I do think relatively to other properties available and we ended up staying after, Alam Jiwa was more expensive than it should have been.

The breakfast was excellent and we had a choice of having it served at our terrace or by the pool. It's a complete spread with fresh fruit, fresh juice, a hot breakfast, and coffee. There's no restaurant on the property. The rooms are very spacious and beautiful. My husband and I enjoyed having our tea poolside. The staff at Alam Jiwa was very warm and friendly. The service was outstanding. The neighborhood is close to town but in a quieter area with plenty of cute restaurants and bars. We felt very safe walking around even at night. The hotel provides a free shuttle service into and out of the main thoroughfare, but my husband and I ventured out to town by walking through the narrow and very busy road (with motorbikes) alongside the Monkey Sanctuary. It was about a 20-minute walk. We really loved this area of Ubud - Nyuh Kuning - and will definitely stay here again. Just a few steps away from Alam Jiwa is an outstanding yoga studio - Taman Hati, and a charming little restaurant called Warung Rama that serves traditional Balinese comfort food with a lot of love.

I would have liked a bar or lounge on the property, but it really was not a big deal because there are plenty of spots to walk to. The neighborhood where Alam Jiwa is located is very lovely and venturing into the neighboring restaurants and bars is highly recommended. There's a store a few steps away so one can pick up some beers and keep them cold in the fridge in your room.

A hidden gem, an oasis of calm in bustling Ubud. At the end of a cul-de-sac, you walk into the park-like garden of Alam Jiwa. What a paradise. A lovely swimming pool, hospitable welcome with fresh fruit juice. You are in the middle of nature; our villa (divided into two large accommodations; one downstairs and one upstairs) was very large and luxurious. Showers overlooking the rice fields, a terrace also with beautiful views over the rice fields. Every morning a delicious, huge breakfast full of fresh products and afternoon tea with cake. You feel like God in Bali here. Lots of care and attention to detail; fresh flowers everywhere, fresh fruit, offering bowls. Highly recommended!

It’s a paradise, quiet and full of vegetation each room has a private garden and the staff is always ready to help!! Waking up and opening the curtains you have a luxurious private garden waiting for you refresh yourself in the open shower you will delight yourself with the tasty breakfast served at the time you have chosen and delivered to your room balcony. They also have a bath tube in the open-air bathroom, which I have been tempted to use but since there is a lack of water in Bali, I have resisted. I have from Westin, which was my first booking, because of the noisy customers of the hotel that would kill the vibe of my days in Ubud. Here somehow the guest respect the surroundings and allow everybody to enjoy the relaxed environment of the swimming pool even not that big is more than enough, unless you are training for the Olympics :) Try the cooking workshop in the related restaurant, was so good and you learn how to do some Balinese dishes, they are easy to prepare

The beds can be more comfortable and mosquito nets more clean

This is a special place. Exactly what I wanted for our first fewsdays in Bali, not a modern hotel room. Your "room" is 1/4 acre block with beautiful gardens that are kept beautifully. There's a view front back and sides and from your open bathroom. There's a moat around the room filled with fish which seemed to be the highlight for my partner who was missing the dog, he fed them our breakfast crumbs. Just so pretty and authentic in every way. We didn't even notice there wasn't a TV until a few days in and then felt more thankful for it so quiet and peaceful yet 10 minute stroll to the centre of town. Staff most helpful with every request but otherwise left in peace and privacy. The photos don't do it justice, they don't capture the serenity and the whole space you have. Also loved the shampoo n conditioner in the little terracotta pots.

The location is close to some good cafes, restaurants, wellness spas, art shops and yoga places. However, there is no need to leave the hotel if you’re seeking a relaxed abode. The pool and the room are so beautiful and relaxing I could have stayed there and just chill. I even had a massage therapist came to my room. Everything is very clean and they have clean filtered water for you in the room and on near the pool. The staff is so lovely and kind and go out of their way to make your stay the best one ever. I was unfortunately unwell one day and ended up in hospital (an infection I caught on one of my outings). When I called the reception a doctor was there very quickly and one of the staff members stayed at the hospital with me for hours to make sure I'm okay. The staff also brought me some flowers. I can't tell you how much these people care and really look after you.

The quality of towels good be better. They were a bit on the 'old' and thin side and at times not that white any longer.

The staff were the highlight of my trip. They were warm, friendly and helpful... a true embodiment of the spirit of Ubud. The breakfast served in our private terrace was delicious and generous. You are provided with a menu and are able to select the items you want and can order via whatsapp. The terrace views are lovely and gardens are gorgeous. We also enjoyed the outdoor shower quite alot. The location is great with restaurants and the monkey forest was within walking distance.

Our rooms were somewhat aged and in need of some maintenance. The walls have some water damage with paint peeling in some places. This was something I was willing to overlooked in light of the many positives.

If I could give this place 100 points I would in a heart beat. What an amazing place! We had a room overlooking rice fields and sunrise, there was even a prayer we could hear in the morning. The room was an absolute art, very comfortable bed and outside shower was a great add on. The staff is super attentive they made sure we had no mosquitos in our room while we left all the windows open and did not arrive till late. they even gave me flowers for my birthday 🙏 They also provide a complimentary pick from a central Ubud 10am-10pm so we used it a couple of times after dinner. Overall this place is VERY peaceful and has an amazing energy. It will stay in my memory as one of the highlights of our visit to Ubud! Thank you
