Kate opened her beautiful very relaxing cozy home to my self and my husband . it was the most relaxing place for sure . Kate was made for the job of a hostess. we were spoilt with tea and apple pie on arrival.an open fire in the sitting room was fantastic. the place was spotless. breakfast was sooo nice and Kate herself and also an other guessed along with two of our friends who stayed as well had a real wonderful chat .would highly recommend.

loved every bit of it

Everything was excellent. From the amazing breakfast, which would have put many 4 star hotels to shame, to the beautifully decorated, spacious, and comfortable rooms. The location was excellent, only 5 minutes drive from the vibrant town of Carrick upon Shannon, and yet set in a very peaceful and scenic location with plenty of space for parking. There is plenty to see and do in the local area, and some spectacular views to admire, such as during the scenic drive around Lough Allen, which starts from Drumshanbo, around 15 km away. Also a number of good restaurants to eat at in Carrick, such as the Oarsman, and Vitto's, and we also liked the Blue Way Lodge in Leitrim village. Finally, the landlady Kate was so helpful and informative, including recommending where to eat. She just could not do enough for us and it was just like staying with family, or possibly better. She was always making sure that we had what we wanted, even leaving a tea tray out for when we came home late at night. She really made our holiday something special, and we would certainly want to stay there again if we decided to visit the area another time.

The weather! It did actually rain a bit from time to time, and then quite a lot during the last couple of days, but it was actually much better than the forecasts we were looking at beforehand, so it was not really a problem, and it is Ireland after all. Even if you did decide not to venture out, Kate's lounge is a really nice comfortable room to relax in as we did most nights when we came in, just to unwind a little bit before bed.

Beautiful breakfast, plenty of fruit, yogurt, cereals, hot food, tea, coffee etc - everything was delicious and plentiful. Bedroom very comfortable, shower room with all the bits and pieces you would need, and a good soothing shower. Lots of character inside and out, very pleasant area and close enough to river Shannon to enjoy an evening or morning stroll. Our hostess Kate was a mine of information about local things to see and do.

Everything was just right and more.

Freshly made, and fresh fruit each morning...the best thing about breakfast is sitting at one big table and great conversations with the other guest, antique furniture with modern bathrooms, beautiful gardens and outside seating, only a few minutes by car or taxi to the main town Carrick-on-Shannon which is a great busy town with lots of places to eat or drink, and magic views of the river Shannon...looking forward to return again, Kate the owner can not do enough for you, and even gives us a lift in town on the Saturday night...just an awesome place to stay...regards, Maggie & Dany

Well I can only say this was the most delightful stay ever. Our host Kate was super amazing with her attention and friendliness. Always there and offering help and advice and a bit of chat. The breakfasts were 5 star and the wonderful characterful breakfast room was beautiful. We stayed 8 days and felt very rested after.

No negatives at all.

I loved the peace and quiet, Kate was down to earth and so genuine. It was like home away from home. I felt so welcomed and had good conversations. Offered tea and scones or apple tart on arrival. The breakfast was fantastic with so much on offer to eat. I returned as I got a call, that I had left my computer charger and Hartley House could post it to me. I returned for my charger and was offered tea and apple tart before my return journey home. This experience of kindness and generosity of spirit I have not experienced before in any other place I have stayed. So Grateful. Anthony

Beautiful old style house....beautifully furnished. Breakfast was super...fresh fruit and juices....and much more.....and as much as you would like of a perfectly cooked breakfast of your choice...all served in a beautifully furnished dining room....best china and silverware..... by an exceptional host....who couldn't do enough for you. The property is beautifully presented with charming period detail, located in an idyllic spot by River Shannon, yet homely and inviting. The best bit however is the wonderful host Kate; not only did she cook me a generous Irish breakfast, brewed endless cups of delicious coffee and directed me to the best eateries in Carrick for the evening meal, she totally untangled my very messy onward travel plans, including getting on the phone to Stenna ferries just in time to get me on the right boat because she was concerned for my safety driving too long a distance back. She is an amazing lady who cannot do enough for you.

We had a great visit to Hartley Hall. The house is beautiful and Kate is the most fantastic host who will do anything to help, including giving much appreciated advice! The breakfast was absolutely gorgeous- lots of fresh fruit, a selection of cereals, a variety of bread and a delicious cooked breakfast. The room was really spacious with a spotlessly clean en-suite. It is situated close to Carrick on Shannon but in a peaceful area where all you hear are the birds singing. Just beautiful and we will definitely visit again next year. Thanks so much Kate!

Not having the time to stay longer!

Hartley House is a beautiful B&B set in a quiet location whilst still being very convenient for the lively town of Carrick-on-Shannon. The house is a real home from home with exceptionally comfortable and luxurious rooms. Kate is a perfect host - warm and friendly, offering refreshments on arrival and providing a fantastic breakfast. We really enjoyed chatting to Kate and sharing many stories.
