We loved everything about the property. We came to Florence during the summer, so it was very hot. It was nice to have a room with air conditioning when we came back. The art around the hotel made the stay so fantastic! The property was absolutely stunning, and the history is even cooler. Ad Astra was our first stop on our European honeymoon trip, and my wife and I agreed that we will come back for our big anniversaries. Additionally, I want to say thank you to the staff for being so kind for helping us get reservations, taxis, and informing us about different things we could do. Thank you, Leonardo and staff!

The only thing that I wish would have been possible, would've been to walk the gardens. However, there are many beautiful gardens around Florence that you can walk in.

Loved location . At first I thought it’s too far from Duomo and main attractions but later I understood that I made great choice staying there because it was quiet and garden made all day stress go away. Yes we can’t use it (the garden) but it’s ok it’s nice touch to have breakfast on the terrace overlooking the garden

My biggest complaint was the pillows. O my god it was soo uncomfortable! I had neck pain for weeks and could not sleep well half of the night . Totally ruined my existence. In general bad was not great also, but pillows were just awful.

We had a fantastic stay in a gorgeous room overlooking the gardens (all 18 acres of privately walled garden!). The bed was super comfy, the bath was totally delicious at the end of a long day of sightseeing (shower facilities were also available). The staff were super friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was like a little oasis away from the throngs of people in the main part of the touristy area although only a short 20 minute (very comfortable stroll) away. This property is perfectly situated to get across and see all the main sites and still walk back to rest the weary feet for an hour or so before you head back out for dinner in the evening. The hotel is situated only 5 minutes away from the Oltrarno area which is suggested is the coolest neighbourhood in Florence filled with loads of little cafes and eateries. A visit to the Piazza Spirtio Santo square is a must for a lovely evening out for dinner.

It would have been lovely to be able to access the garden but completely understand that the owners of the property who still currently live within the confines would not want guests strolling around. However there is a wonderful terrace overlooking the garden from which you can enjoy the views whilst sipping your glass of vino.

It's a lovely property surrounded by a beautiful garden that gives a feeling of escape from the hassle and bustle of the city. Very well located, 10' walk to Porto Vecchio. We had a room with a terrace which is certainly the best one but it doesn't give you the full privacy as people can walk by. The staff at the reception is very nice and helpful, and try to accommodate your needs.

Breakfast could have been better given the bakeries around, it would have been nicer to have fresh bread rather than frozen buns heated in the oven. Also, fresh juices would have been better than from the cartoon box including fresh fruit salad etc. The rooms are not well sound proofed.

Nice tasty breakfast in charming salon. Location is slightly off the beaten track but all the better for that. Our room had a terrace overlooking the private gardens which was a lovely place to relax. Diana and her colleague on reception were exceptional and could not do enough for us, along with some great restaurant recommendations.

Could have been a bit more generous with the complimentary coffee pods, water and teas. I'm sure they would have been provided if we had asked but whenever we wanted them the reception as closed (as we had been advised). Husband found the pillows a bit too firm.

Beyond heavenly - this hotel is astonishingly otherworldly in its beauty. Why stay anywhere else in Florence? And Astra is my favourite hotel I've ever stayed at. This is my second stay at Ad Astra and it's just as charming and ethereal as I remembered. Imagine arriving at a stunning 19th century mansion to realise it's your hotel - I can't begin to describe how magical the experience is from the second you arrive. We stayed in room 3 which was very chic and totally dreamy, complete with a vintage bath, a chandelier and a private balcony overlooking the gardens. The room was pristine in cleanliness, the sheets were luscious and satin-like and the bed was very comfortable. One thing we loved is that the bathroom is stylish and suits the decor, yet has a contemporary rain shower; we liked the fusion of rustic with contemporary, fresh touches. Despite room 3 being next to the room where breakfast is served, I didn't hear a peep during breakfast. The hotel provides an exquisite continental breakfast with the loveliest pastries and croissants I've ever tried; everything is fresh, abundant and delicious with a wonderful selection. At breakfast they can also make barista coffee included in the breakfast. All guests can enjoy breakfast on the most beautiful patio/balcony your imagination can conjure, overlooking the garden with the chiming of Florentine bell towers and bird song in the background. The best thing about our stay was the wonderful and friendly team at Ad Astra who go the extra mile. I'm incredibly grateful to have had such an incredible holiday thanks to them. I can't emphasise enough how brilliant they are.

Everything was utterly perfect. I wish I could have stayed longer!

Very charming hotel with beautifully appointed room. Particularly impressive bathroom. Reception was super helpful about giving recommendations and ordering taxis. The staff was all very friendly and kind.

It was a little dark in our ground floor room. Also, it would have been nice if the reception had longer hours because we had to do self check in and that was tricky. Plus we sometimes wanted to ask a question but then realized it was already off-hours.

Very nice garden location and very quiet. the old building is lovely, but we had booked a room overlooking the garden, instead, they put us in a little lodge in the garden, which meant we had to walk back to the main building for everything, although they did offer a room service.

The tea and coffee making facilities in the room were adequate but as we find a lot in Italy, they never supply enough! there was no milk and only two tea bags, no biscuits, no free water which is poor for a hotel charging £ 170 per night! do something about this as it’s not expensive to fix!

The property was very well-maintained, well decorated, and quiet. Tucked within a more quiet neighborhood in Florence, it was the perfect location to get away from the crowds and enjoy the city. Everything you could want to do was also a short walk away from restaurants, shops, local sites, etc. The staff were extremely kind and helpful and made our stay great. I absolutely loved this hotel and would return again in the future.

Beautiful large rooms, stunning view from balcony, large gardens, double sink, freestanding bath, large shower, extra large bed and room. Breakfast was delicious - help yourself. Staff more than happy to provide food an hour after breakfast as we had an early start and returned later.

Location is only a few mins walk to lots of bars and restaurants and 10 mins to cross the river into the main historical centre, but would be nice to be a bit nearer, but then would t have the view. Shame can’t walk in the gardens.
