Good location, very close to all the main sights. The lady at reception (I think her name was Drita?) was extremely kind and helpful and recommended a fantastic restaurant nearby.

There were lots of mosquitos in the room (despite it being October!)

I stayed at Hotel Rita Major for three nights for work and had a very enjoyable stay. It was very comfortable and clean, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the location is excellent - very close to the centre but not in the middle of the tourist area. A bonus is the lovely courtyard area which I used for working in, which is a great communal area to work or relax in. I got in quite late on two nights and there was always someone on reception to welcome me in.

Overall it was really great. Two very small things - the breakfast was a bit limited (although I'm told that is often the way with Italian breakfasts!) apart from the coffee which was great; and it would have been nice to be provided with some bottles of shower gel or something in the bathroom (there were small sachets). But I am being picky. It's a lovely place and I'd definitely stay again.

Such a charming, sweet old-fashioned hotel with everything you need in a great location, and such good value for money! I could not get over the amazing staff - the most helpful, friendly, warm people I have come across at a hotel - every one without exception! They really went above and beyond and made my stay so special. My room and the hotel in general was absolutely spotlessly clean and very comfortable in a quiet, safe area, just 1.5 km (20 minute stroll) to the Uffizi gallery, and even closer to the Duomo. The location was perfect for me because it was just outside the chaos of the old city centre, but within such easy reach of all the main attractions. There is also a bus that stops just a few metres from the hotel, so getting there with public transport is a breeze. Lovely breakfast each morning (with the best cappuccino in the world!) overlooking the gorgeous, quaint courtyard which really set me for the day. I loved my time at Hotel Rita Major and would definitely stay here again if I ever get the chance to go back to Florence!

Everything was perfect! There was a glitch with communication beforehand but the hotel is aware of this and will sort it out.

The Hotel Rita Major was a great place to stay. It is about a 30 minute walk from the main station and 20 minutes from the centre attractions. As such it is just outside the busy areas of the city and yet it is an only a pleasant walk to get there. We caught a taxi from the station which for what should have been a 10 minute ride turned out to be very expensive. We later found out that there are a number of buses that go from the hotel to the station and are frequent and cheap. Our check in was very easy and Jenny on the desk was really helpful with advice about getting around the city ( buses to Piazza Michelangelo and the station) and local places to eat and drink that were outside the main tourist areas. We found all this to be really helpful for our stay. We got the bus back to the station from almost outside the hotel which was quicker and just over 10% of the taxi fare. Our room was spacious and opened out on the communal garden which was great. Jenny had said it was ok to being back pizza and wine to enjoy in the garden in the evening which we did one night after a full day walking around the city. Breakfast was continental style buffet which was great. We found all the staff really helpful but special mentions for Jenny and Luke, though others were equally as helpful and friendly we just didn't catch their names. In the immediate vicinity of the hotel there is a Carrefour Express, a pizza take away and a lovely restaurant. Whilst it is not int he centre of things this suited us.

There was nothing about the hotel we did not like.

A lovely clean hotel, in a great area. The terrace at the rear was very nice. All the staff are friendly and very helpful. Plenty of places to eat and drink nearby. The old market was great and all easy walking distance. We walked from the train station which was easy. The hotel bar was handy and very reasonable

We liked the hotel, but here are our suggestions. The pillows were very flat, but we asked for 2 more. The room was quite sparse and it would be nice to have a little fridge and a kettle. The breakfast was a cold buffet with mostly sweet things. More cheese and eggs and maybe a toaster.

I would like to extend a big thank you to the staff for their exceptional support and friendliness throughout my stay. The location is ideal—quiet, yet conveniently close to the city center and a bus stop, making it easy to explore Florence. There are several nice restaurants, a pizza shop, and a grocery store nearby. The courtyard garden is beautiful and relaxing, providing a perfect spot to unwind after a busy day.

Staff were wonderful. Location for exploring Florence was very good. It was a nice 15 minute walk through characterful streets and cool cafes/wine bars to get to the centre. Room was very clean and sizeable - we had a Comfort room which included Air Conditioning which was well needed for the few days we were there. Breakfast was nice. Simple buffet breakfast in a covered outdoor setting. Staff couldn’t be more helpful with coffees etc. Car Parking - we parked at the Garage Palace which appears to have some sort of affiliation with the hotel having been recommended. Tight underground car park and I wouldn’t blame anyone for being sceptical, but it was perfect for us for a few days. 24-hour manned valet parking and car was spotless on collection. €15 a day and we were charged €60 for 4.5 days so understanding staff.

Nothing.

Location ok for access to main attractions. The evening g staff were particularly helpful and suggested tour ideas for seeing main attractions which worked well. A local restaurant was recommended and we used it for two nights in a row as the food and service was good. We had access to a nice balcony which was most pleasant to sit out on.

I think we will get home to a traffic violation ticket as the road system was complicated and I did not understand about limited access to some roads. Parking was available in a garage a 9 minute walk from the hotel. Again avoiding the limited access roads was tricky. Not the fault of the hotel tho.

Situated approx 15 mins walk from Firenze Campo di Marte train station and approx 30 mins from Firenze S.M. Novella train station. Friendly staff, Jenny very helpful with her excellent english and Edwardo such a lovely gentleman. The hotel is in a very old building with lots of character. Nice outdoor space to sit with a drink. Rooms a little tight, basic but adequate. Bathroom includes hairdryer and excellent shower. Rooms cleaned daily. Breakfast just right with hot drinks, juices, cereals, breads, cold meats and cheese, cakes, fruit, yogurts, croissants and jam/chocolate. Pizza restaurant next door and coffee shop short walk up the street. I would definitely recommend.

This room was clean and had a great bathroom. There were three twin sized beds and a tv with 2 channels that carried English speaking programs. Both of these were important to us since my son was very ill during this time. The staff could not have been nicer. When he felt a little better, we sat in the beautiful garden in the sun. The provided breakfast was wonderful and set in a beautiful breakfast room with tablecloths and napkins. The men in charge wore jackets and served fresh made coffee to you always asking if you would like more. The breakfast selection was excellent. They made take-away for my son. Everyone here was fantastic from those in charge of the restaurant to the girl at the front desk. Loved it.

That my son got sick, but we were connected with a doctor.
