Hotel Palazzo Alexander

One of the best places we have ever stayed in in Italy. Palazzo Alexander is a beautiful and very friendly place with attention to detail. You could feel that this hotel is family owned. From the moment we entered the door we were met by a both friendly and professional atmosphere. We felt so welcome and cared for all through our four nights stay. Our room was spacious and - very important as Lucca was going through a cold snap - properly insulated and heated; this can sometimes be an issue in hotels in Italy, but not here. The included breakfast was sumptious: Besides a well equipped buffet they brought us freshly cooked eggs and bacon, freshly squeezed orange juice and coffee and a selection of local cold cuts straight from the kitchen to our table. One night as we were on our way out for dinner the rain was belting down and we didn't have an umbrella (forget it in Pisa); the friendly receptionist just lent us his - thank you!

this family run hotel is so cute, and so comfortable. Sometimes it feels like you’re stepping back in time a little bit with the beautiful parquet floors and green marble bathrooms… But it’s less than a 10 minute walk to the center of Luka, and they have secured parking on site. We would absolutely stay here again! They were so kind, and we absolutely enjoyed ourselves. our room was especially spacious and even had a pull out couch.

we highly recommend that you contact the property before hand if you are driving in… Driving in downtown Luca can be a little bit stressful and the owner will come outside and help maneuver all of the tight corners if you let them know in advance!

The rooms were an excellent size when sharing with a friend with two good sized beds and room to move. The location is within the ancient city walls so easy to find your way around the city and visit all the local site on food or hire bicycle. The owners and staff catered an excellent breakfast that included cereal, yogurts, eggs and bacon, or continental with a wonderful variety of sweet cakes and breads along with tea and coffee. Fill your water from the aqueduct source fountain only steps away from your accomodation.

It’s a great location with a classically ornate Italian design. The lobby is lovely with a nice bar and the rooms are comfortable. What truly sets it apart is the owner and his son and staff who go out of their way to help you, but make it feel effortless. Friendly, engaging - you can see why they work in hospitality. We had our 9 month old with us and there was nothing they didn’t try to help with. From breakfast to recommendations for a good park. Couldn’t have been happier.

Palazzo Alexander was a perfect place to stay for our 3 night journey to Lucca. Mario and his son were extremely pleasant and helpful when we needed taxi to station and advise re restaurants. Hotel has delightful Italian palazzo decor with a lift to bedrooms and everything you could want - rooms were spacious, clean, with comfortable bed and excellent shower. Breakfast was served downstairs in another lovely part of palazzo with good variety available. The man who served breakfast was also friendly and charming Palazzo Alexander was an easy walking distance to everything in beautiful Lucca. I am so happy I chose it for our stay 👌

nothing to dislike

We spent 4 nights in this lovely traditional hotel. Breakfast was served at table and the table by the open window was lovely. The extensive and delicious breakfast was served by the owner with help of family members. Mario provided us with a very useful map and highlighted everything there was to see and do in this lovely city. Nothing was too much trouble and his command of English was Excellent as was Gabriel's. My Wife, Regina and I would have no hesitation in recommending this lovely hotel and we look forward to returning in the future. Thank you!

perhaps the Aircon was a little noisy, but did not take away from an enjoyable time in this lovely hotel.

Travelling with young kids can be tough, but the family who run Palazzo Alexander made things SO much easier. They suggested restaurants and made reservations for us, entertained the children at breakfast, learning their names and making them laugh every time we passed through the lobby. Highly recommend and would love to go back!

Breakfast was basic - but then we ate so much throughout the day, it didn't bother us

This is an elegant, beautiful hotel, right in the centre of Lucca. I felt like I stepped back in time, with the addition of modern comforts. The bedrooms are a very generous size, and the beds are probably the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever slept on. The whole place is spotless, and the staff take such pride in their work, that they cannot do enough for their guests

In an ideal world, the hotels inside the walls of Lucca would gave a car park at the back; however, we appreciate the reasons why they dont, and we wouldn't change that. There are car parks a few minute walks away, which is fine

The gentleman who helped us at reception was WONDERFUL. Very helpful and accommodating in every way. Even walked out in the rain to help us with the parking situation. Room was comfortable and good sized. Location in Lucca is super convenient for walking around to eat/sightsee. Parking is close by (just a little difficult to enter/exit with anything but a tiny car). Breakfast was lovely and relaxing, and their recommendations for restaurants and sights were wonderful (along with maps and directions!)

Just wish the parking was a tad easier to enter/exit. If we would have had a smaller car, it would've been much easier. Otherwise an EXCELLENT property.

The service at Palazzo Alexander is excellent, very friendly and very efficient. The staff are always welcoming and attentive to the guests' needs. The breakfast is one of the best I have encountered in Italy and it was a pleasure to return and see that the hotel excellent standards are being maintained

Nothing. The hotel is a short walk from the centre, but equally it is convenient to some of the car parks outside the city walls
