Although the accommodation is in a very busy part of Naples--just across the central railway station in Piazza Garibaldi, which many people write should be avoided if possible, we did not feel unsafe at any time of the day---and we were on the move a lot with a child throughout the day and in late evenings. The police were present in the piazza, as they were in all other busy parts of the city. The accommodation is safe and the people running it are young, nice, and very helpful. They speak standard Italian and not very good English, my experience was, so if communication in English is slow, just be patient and keep it simple. Or switch to Italian :) Philip R is located on the 5th floor, away from the true hustle and bustle of the Neapolitan streets, and we had a corner room with a wonderful view of Vesuvius (easiest on the eye in pre-sunset lighting). We wanted to avoid the busy inner-city yet be close to it. With the central railway station, we had direct access not only to the underground network but to Alibus (yes, the airport shuttle bus leaves from just below the accommodation), and to the Circumvesuviana, operating trains that take you to Ercolano Scavi, Pompei, or Sorrento, and Trenitalia, should you want to take a day trip to the farther Paestum. To top it all, the most famous sfogliatella shop is just a block away, and the best known Da Michele pizzeria a short walk away, as is Spaccanapoli. I would choose it any day over any of the no window, basso-style accommodations advertised or those uncountable ones with pay-lifts hungry for 10/20 cents per ride should your accommodation be on upper floors. It’s not the cost that it the prime deterrent but making sure you have the right coins on you at all times.

Very close to the central station. There is also a cafe nearby where you can have breakfast every morning. It is very easy to get everywhere you want to go from the hotel by bus. Buses and subways are very close. the staff is very caring and loving. Our room was always clean and there were little treats. Our very last minute overnight stay was excellent. Really exceeded our expectations. Due to a last minute flight change we booked this very last minute and couldn’t have been happier with all the help we received. The beds were the comfiest beds we slept right through until check out and when we were a few minutes late for check out staff were so lovely. Having breakfast served to us was also such a treat and lovely when we finally got up

We were a little bit worried in location when we arrived at night as the taxi driver also told us to look out for our phones however having locked doors with pin access made us feel safe and being in our room we knew we where very safe

Shout out to Francesco for helping us out and pointing us to all the best spots in Naples! The b&b is a really nice and clean place to stay. Breakfast good too. Honestly didn’t really notice any noise from the street once inside. And you’re on an easy spot to get around to the rest of the city.

That being said: Naples central is very dodgy.

A little bit scared enviroment around the station, but I think whole Naples unsafety a little bit.

Philip Royal Hotel has been an excellent choice. We selected it for its vicinity to the central railways station at the Piazza Garibaldi, the standard point of reference for tourists in Naples. The hotel is located few meters only from the railways (and metro) station, right in Piazza Garibaldi. The piazza provides numerous cafes for breakfast and good restaurants for a dinner close to the hotel. Still the hotel proved a quite positive surprise from several more aspects: very good relationship of value and price, cleanliness and tidiness, size of rooms, and a very friendly and helpful personnel. We 'll surely be back.

It might sound funny, but I would like one or two towel racks in the bathroom. And two glasses on the fridge.

Breakfast was a lovely coffee and espresso (and I don’t even like coffee usually but this was a nice one!), a lovely juice and some pastries (lovely fresh warm croissant and a lemon drizzle and condiments). Delivered to the room when we wanted, which was so nice! The room is beautiful, very clean and just really amazing value for money. Comfy bed. This is the perfect place if you’re staying in naples ESPECIALLY if you’re doing what we’re doing (flew into naples, stayed the night, Pompei day trip on the train, stay the night here, then train to rome - good location for all those trains!)

The area is sketchy, especially arriving late at night. But this was our choice and we wanted this(as it’s a 2 second walk to the train station), just a warning! The place itself was perfect so I’m just looking for faults really!

It was clean and a great location. There was a lift which was great as I had a big, heavy suitcase. I needed a night in Naples before I got a flight and the location was perfect for me to get the bus to the airport in the morning. The man on the desk was so friendly and accommodating; I told him I needed to leave before breakfast and he immediately organised my breakfast to be prepared and left in my room. I’d highly recommend this place.

It’s not in the most lovely area of Napoli but it’s perfect if you need to be by the Central Station.
