Everything. Been in the same family for over 100 years. The gardens. The huge variety of foods for breakfast with scrambled eggs. The complimentary bike to go on the magical bike/walking/running (old railroad) path along the sea that starts near the hotel and goes to two other villages. The short walk to the beach and to the train. The complimentary beach chairs and umbrella to borrow. The warm, welcoming and informative checkin. The linens which I saw being sun dried. I also saw a lot of older Italians staying there. They probably know the best places. It is a gem and I have already booked a trip to return in October with my boyfriend. That hotel and Levanto are the perfect base to explore the Cinque Terre. I hiked from Levanto to Monterossa but you can take a five minute train for €5.

Staff make you feel like home, from the reception to the housekeeping. They were caring and so friendly and professional. We got served a welcome drink on arrival, which was a great touch. They can organise anything for you, from car transfers to boat trips. Breakfast was very good with a good selection of italiand breads, sweets, cheeses and meats, as well as some hot options. Room was spacious and clean, with a great view and all the facilities we needed. Location was perfect, right across from the beach, near many restaurants and about 100 metresfr the ferry terminal, which goes to Portofino, Santa Margherita and other beaches. During our stay, there was also a special drinks / finger food happy hour event organised by the hotel, which was a great opportunity to meet staff and other guests. Highly recommended.

When we arrived we were greeted by a very helpful host who guided us to the parking place in front of the hotel. The host took extra care to see that we had a smooth check in. He also gave use a lot of useful information regarding food and things to do. We booked a room with a balcony and view of the sea and it was wonderful. In addition to this, the room had double doors that opened to a rooftop terrace with table and chairs. What a great bonus! We had coffee there in the morning and wine in the evening. The breakfast was wonderful. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. We will always remember our wonderful stay in Rapallo at Hotel Astoria.

Huge choice of hot and cold food for buffet breakfast, in a lovely dinning room. Waitress served a choice of hot drinks. The hotel is perfectly located for beach and the lido. Many bars and restaurants can be found locally. Great location to explore the coastal region. Train and ferry's are walking distance. We stayed in Jan - it was very unusually cold, but the hotel had good heating, and plenty of hot water. Tea and coffee could also be made in our room. The hotel had a good sitting area in the lobby to relax or meet friends.

Rapallo is a pretty coastal town, however the traffic was busy at times.

Very friendly staff, excellent rooms & breakfast. The hotel is situated at a prime location; right in front of the sea and in the middle of the shopping and restaurant area. We will definitely return here!!!

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the lobby had some beautiful artwork all around. It is an historic hotel and the location was very convenient, across the street from the town's waterfront and close to so many restaurants within walking distance. We had a lovely meal just a few doors down even after checking in a bit late. The room was simple but had all amenities we needed, very clean and orderly. And the bed was comfortable which is THE most important element !

There was really nothing to dislike. It's not an overly luxurious hotel but is elegant in its simplicity. The elevator is very small but that was ok with me - very European!.

My daughters and I stayed at the Hotel Astoria recently. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel from the moment we arrived until the day we left. My original booking didn't include a room with a view, but they gave us one anyway. We had a beautiful view of the sea, and the room was extremely spacious. Breakfast was delicious. All the staff were friendly. I will definitely stay at this hotel again if I'm fortunate enough to return to this region of Italy again!

The elevator is tiny, but not a big deal.

We loved this hotel: ideal to discover the Portofino Peninsula (and actually a much better option than staying in Portofino). The staff is wonderful: Elina (nice Ukrainian lady) at the reception and Michela for breakfast make you feel like you are a very special guest. They are helpful, friendly and service-minded. The hotel is conveniently located close to the Rapallo railway station, in front the the beach / seashore, and is an ideal base to walk / drive / take a bus to Portofino and to trail across the Peninsula (highly recommended).

Lovely old mansion house right on the seafront. Renovated to a high standard. Our room (104) looked out over the sea and had a huge terrace to the side. The bathroom was spotless with a good power shower. Parking was agreed in advance for a nightly fee of €20. The breakfast in the dining room was plentiful and there was even a bottle of bubbles for those who fancied a Bucks Fizz! The staff were all polite and friendly. A lovely hotel for our final night in Italy.

We didn't like the fact that it was our last night! Everything else was excellent! I forgot to mention there was a spa available and you could hire out various vehicles and organise day trips if you wanted but we were only in transit back home so we couldn't enjoy any of these extra facilities.
