My partner and our 6 year old spent 3 nights in Hotel Santa Maria and it was absolutely perfect for our stay in Rome. We went to the Vatican on Friday and the Colosseum on Saturday. Location-wise, the hotel is almost in the middle of those two places, around a 30 minute walk, obviously quicker without a child. It is also surrounded by a great choice of restaurants. There is a secure gateway into the hotel which was fantastic as almost every other hotel opens onto the street. Once inside you'll find a beautiful courtyard that is actually an orange and lemon orchard. There's even a lounge where my daughter and I played chess and I even had a nap on one of the extremely comfy chairs! The room was clean, the shower/bath did its job perfectly and the beds were very comfortable. Finally, the staff were all a pleasure to deal with. You could feel that they're passionate about and have great pride in their hotel and they absolutely should be. They always greeted us with a smile and were so friendly and welcoming. A special mention to Marvin and Kevin in the breakfast room. They put on a wonderful breakfast, are so professional and are amazing at their job. From the little details in the lattes to making my daughter smile. She also couldn't get enough of the hot chocolate and finished every breakfast with marshmallows from the guys. I honestly can't recommend Hotel Santa Maria enough. After staying for 3 nights I would just tell you to forget staying anywhere else, stay in Hotel Santa Maria. It has 3 stars but it gives you 5 star service, is in a great location with comfortable rooms and the best staff. Book your stay here, you won't regret it.

My daughter and I spent 10 GLORIOUS Days at Hotel Santa Maria. The pictures online do NOT do this quaint, classic paradise justice! The staff was beyond accommodating from the time I booked our trip and had to change dates with NO problems, until we had to extend a day due to travel issues, again flawless. Being two women in a foreign country we both felt safe and looked after by the staff. If we needed a cab, no problem... If we needed a recommendation...perfect, If we needed to figure out how to get somewhere....they were on it! The free breakfast was such a plus! We could fill up for our long day out and not have to stop for quite a while. The breakfast buffet was nicely appointed and pleasing to the eye. The cappuccinos were perfection! We both enjoyed our latte art, personalized every morning for us by our handsome barista! The entire staff was a 10/10! The hotel itself is in the most amazing town of Trastevere! It is a beacon in this lively town. We both felt safe strolling the streets for lunch, shopping or gelato! Having the entire hotel gated was quite reassuring. There are some "creature" comforts of home, so be sure to feed the cat during breakfast and "Happy Hour" AND If your lucky, you'll get to meet the beautiful golden retriever in the main office. Our room was always clean and cozy. Fresh towels every day, the A/C was 100%, the fridge was a nice necessity, and the water pressure on point! We lacked for nothing! Be sure to take advantage of the terrace! It was a nice place to get my alone time and read or just take in the beautiful views! WE WILL RETURN!

Wonderful stay! The location is fantastic - a beautiful, quiet oasis in the midst of bustling and lovely Trastevere. The room was unusually big for Rome. The absolute highlight is the staff. Everyone there was friendly, helpful, professional, and all-round outstanding. They helped us with restaurant recommendations and got us star treatment at the very busy (and excellent) restaurant around the corner. Kevin at the bar makes excellent and dangerously generous cocktails.

The only minor discomfort was that the air-conditioning wasn't quite strong enough to stand up to August in Rome.

best staff and exceptional hospitality. we were so pleased with the way the hotel is run, always exceeding our expectations. The staff was caring, genuine and helped us greatly to make dinner reservations, book transportation and always did an excellent job counseling us. We were treated like family, not just guests. It was my husband's birthday and they helped to make it a special. Food was excellent and the cappuccinos were art! Oh, yeah--the happy hour each day was so much fun!

The staff was just extremely friendly and welcoming! I didn't have such a good experience in a long time!! The location is soo nice in the middle of Trastevere. It's an absolute perfect sanctuary in the middle of a very lively neighbourhood. Rooms rather simple; but comfortable! The courtyard is from like a movie scene, super pretty and romantic. The breakfast is nice, and the happy hour snacks are lovely.

The location in the Trastevere area of Rome made for easy walks (20-30 minutes) to sites like the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Colosseum, and Vatican. Staff was very helpful with arranging a taxi to the airport and Vatican Museum. There are many restaurants within a few minutes walk. Security was very good with the large gate that controls entrance to the property along with an in-room save. Evening happy hour reception had wonderful snacks in a cozy atmosphere as well as the courtyard. The included breakfast was very good with the typical European combination of meat, cheese, a variety of breads and scrambled eggs.

This hotel does not have air conditioning. This was not a problem because it was late November with pleasant weather. The shower head is in the middle of the bath tub which was awkward to use. We opted to just use the tub.

Team/staff at the location were super friendly and very helpful on guiding us through our stay with transportation, places to eat, etc. I also liked the local feel/experience of staying there with the interior patio and overall, how quite the area is.

I think their breakfast was great but can use some variety. They should switch options as I can see that after staying there for more than 3 days, someone would want something different to try.

This place is exceptional. An oasis of calm in the lively area of Trastevere. Sitting in the courtyard, enjoying (a very generous) drink, in the shade of the trees, listening to birdsong after a day’s sightseeing is an absolute joy. And the staff without exception were the nicest people (how do they remember all of the guests’ names and key numbers?!). It’s a perfect place and we want to go back.

A fabulous buffet breakfast in a charming courtyard with plenty of shade. Tables were were beautiful with tablecloths and cutlery. Room was cool and very comfortable. The staff were the friendliest, kindest people I’ve come across over our whole European trip. Seriously good people in all areas of the service. Thanks so much for having us in this little oasis.

Everything was perfect

Exceeded expectations! Not only is the property stunning but the location is great! Just a 10-minute walk over a pedestrian bridge and you are in the heart of Rome. I highly recommend staying in the area of Trastevere, the property is located right in the heart of some of the best restaurants and bars. We did the happy hour at the property each night before dinner which was some of the best cocktails we have ever had. Their take on an Aperol spritz is so good! Not the mention, the best pre-dinner appetizers are provided. We also did breakfast each morning and got the best cappuccino with the cutest art on them.
