Our second time staying at the hotel Ancora. There is a wonderful art deco inspired elegance to the hotel, exemplified by the staff who complement the aesthetic with their manner and professionalism. It could be a model for the best boutique hotels to follow. The breakfast is superb by any standard, world class quality and a wonderful selection of food. The location is on the road next to Lake Maggiore (which is very convenient) and the staff will guide you with regard to parking options

A very nice hotel on the front in Intra. Warm welcome, especially from the manager who seems to greet everyone personally which is a nice touch. We arrived mid-afternoon and were tired so upgraded to a junior suite with a large balcony. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice, fresh and appetising. Motorbike parking on the street close by.

Beyond their control, but the traffic along the front is endless and there is a noisy square close by. However, the room was pretty well soundproofed and no problem sleeping.

This was such a great hotel! We stayed in a deluxe double room with a balcony and a lake view. The location was excellent, on the main road overlooking the lake and backing onto Old Town. The ferry pier was only 2 minutes walk away and there were plenty of restaurants in the area. The hotel does not have its own parking, but they can arrange parking either at the pier (outside, but cheaper) or beneath a nearby supermarket (undercover, but more expensive). Our room was a good size - not huge, but there was space for everything we needed. There were built-in cupboards, a desk, bar fridge, air conditioning, a safe and enough plug points for charging devices. The bed was large and comfortable, with extra pillows etc in the cupboard. The bathroom had a rain shower with amazing pressure. The staff were all really friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. Free welcome drinks and snacks were offered on arrival and there was complimentary water (still and sparkling) and fresh fruit in our room. Breakfast was not included in our room rate but, for an extra 10 Euros per person per day, it was well worth it - they had a great selection of hot and cold options, English and Continental, including less common items like fresh honeycomb and shaved chocolate. The balcony room was a good choice as we enjoyed being able to relax outside in the late afternoon, with a glass of wine and a view of the lake.

The WiFi was very slow and the nearby restaurant was noisy at night (but 90% of the noise was blocked out when we closed the balcony doors). These were both minor issues, which didn’t spoil our stay at Hotel Ancora.

Breakfast was pretty close to sumptuous, as European hotel breakfasts go: homemade yoghurt, homemade pancakes, exceptional preserves, moist scrambled eggs (a rarity in most hotel buffet breakfasts) and on and on. Although we were there just to stay over to go to a funeral nearby the next day, we could see that it was ideally located, e.g., right in front of the ferry to Laveno, where people could explore more of lakeside Lago Maggiore. We liked the women who checked us in and who answered our questions, etc.

Nothing that would be in their control (e.g., a beach across the street). The staff know the place and the area and the lake and manage the hotel well.

Breakfast was very very good. The location is right next to the lake, with a great view from our room (which we paid a bit ekstra for). Separate parking in garage was available (at a cost off course) which was really nice.

The hotel claims to have a bar, and it is there, but unfortunately it was not open while we where there.

The location was absolutely perfect. We could walk everywhere and the view of the lake from our room was spectacular! There are many restaurants and cafés around the hotel and a supermarket less than a 10 minute walk away. Many parking options available as well which was important to us since we were traveling by car. Our room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. Everything we could possibly need was available. The breakfast buffet is totally worth the money! There is a wide assortment of many different foods, freshly pressed orange juice, great coffee, etc. Everything you could want and need from a hotel breakfast! Last but not least, the staff is always friendly and willing to help with anything you could possibly need. They are very service oriented and professional! We had an amazing time in Verbania and would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to explore Lago Maggiore.

Classy hotel that prides itself on friendly service. Welcome drinks a nice touch. Staff are attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. Breakfast was superb. Great location. Easy parking... despite being on a main road the double glazing kept the noise out. Internet connection was fine. Coffee machine in room - excellent.

The front desk staff was wonderful- so helpful in so many ways. Rababe and Alberto were particularly helpful. Also the breakfast room staff. Breakfast was delicious. The view from our room was beautiful. Thanks for making this A WONDERFUL part of our trip.

Wonderful hotel on the water with wonderful views of the lake, mountains and ferrys coming in and out. Staff is exceptional. Great value. This is the second trip we have stayed here and would stay again. Rooms are very quiet from the street noise. Wonderful breakfast with many options including gluten free.

While mattress was fine, we like a firmer one. We had a room that had an adjoining door. The door could be better sealed for noise.

Perfect location, I received a video with explicit instructions on how to access the hotel and the response from the staff was prompt. There was complimentary drinking water, which I find very important, as you never know at what time you will arrive; water is always needed! The room had also a lazy boy chair with massage!!!
