We are very pleased with our stay at this hotel! The room was very spacious with a good view from the window, although not on the lake. Incredibly nice staff to help with everything - especially the hotel manager Maria Angela - an amazing woman who took time for each guest, creating an atmosphere of comfort and exclusivity of the place, as well as a sense of value for each of the guests. The hotel itself is a pearl of architecture and neoclassical style right on the lake and its own beach. Despite the fact that it is an old historical building, the hotel is in very good condition and with all amenities, including swimming pool, sauna and spa. It has convenient location - close to the city center, but at the same time a little secluded - so not noisy and calm. Amazingly delicious restaurant with rich and varied breakfast with a lake view.

We loved absolutely everything about the property and couldn’t fault it. The location was perfect - beautifully maintained grounds by the lake and a short stroll into Pallanza. The indoor pool was amazing - so relaxing and serene - and swimming in the lake was wonderful. The breakfast was fantastic with a huge amount of choice. Our room was just perfect for us. Having a cocktail on the terrace after coming back from dinner in Pallanza was lovely. If you want somewhere quiet and chilled, this is the perfect place. All the staff were lovely and went above and beyond - a special mention needs to go to Blendy (our name for him was Jack!) at the bar and Moussa at the pool.

There wasn’t anything we didn’t like. We parked our car at the hotel when we arrived and didn’t use it again until we left as the transport (buses, trains and ferries) were good. However we were also worried that we might not get a parking space again if we decided to drive somewhere in the car. One suggestion might be that for guests staying a long time, like we did, at 10 days+, there is an opportunity to reserve a space. However it wasn’t an issue for us and we understand that people tend to stay for a few nights only.

The location and the facilities are excellent, especially the Junior suite sizes and balcony views. The lounge chairs in the front yard are comfortable, and there was plenty of space for everyone to have a certain level of social distancing privacy. The ability to swim in lake out front was nice. The walk to the main hub if Palanza, with many restaurants, shops, the lighted fountain and ferries also extremely convenient. Parking near hotel also free on street.

Although the Suites we’re very generous in size, the shower stall was small/tight. If we quibble, we would have liked a spa with steam room and hot tub too.

Beautiful location, front lake, amazing garde and private beach entry. Room had also beautiful lake view, very comfy bed and spacious room.

Staff was not very friendly. Upon arrival we wanted to check in and they took more than 5 minutes to talk to us. They continues to talk in between themselves without even acknowledge us in the front desk. I didn’t like this as a welcome. Breakfast could offer more variety and quality for a 4 stars hotel in Italy. Also stand up paddling should be included and not charged.

Amazing location, garden with a direct access to lake, nice pool and wellness center. Great views from a balcony. Close to Verbania, Stresa and islands.

We would recommend to replace the bed mattresses. They were not comfortable.

Excellent hotel for relaxing and getting away from it all, location 5 minutes from town with fabulous restaurants offering fine dining at reasonable prices. We traveled in June so it was fairly quiet which suited us. We eat out most evening but went back to the hotel for a nightcap where we were looked after by Lorenzo & Blend who were both top drawer barmen and all round nice people. Would definitely return at some stage.

Nothing bar maybe some evening music.

A magnificent late 19C Grand Hotel which has had to adapt itself to modern tourist trends to cover its overheads. That means short term tourist groups.

With just modest expenditure some of the obvious differences between its rating as a four star hotel and its natural five star historic rating could be ironed out. Little things like uncomfortable pool loungers that slide away when sat on come to mind.

everything! the location and amenities were perfection!!!! the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. we stayed as part of our honeymoon & they upgraded our room one level from full to fill lake view & gave us a cute congrats note upon check in!!

the prices to eat at the hotel were outrageous compared to Italy prices. 38E for a steak & 8E for genato are basically NYC prices! I have to say the breakfast, lunch and drinks were all phenomenal quality despite the “taking advantage of tourist” prices. the rooms smell a little musty but we didn’t mind too much because they were so clean comfy and had amazing views!

The hotel is in a beautiful location with views all around across the lake and picturesque town of Pallanza. The staff were charming and very helpful. Breakfast and dinner were both excellent. The setting was peaceful and tranquil - just what we were looking for.

Options for lunch and dinner were limited if you did not use the expensive restaurant. The bar menu could have had more choice. We had a road side view which was significantly less good than lake side and this should have been reflected in the price.
