The shuttle service is great to and from bus station if you have luggages. onsen baths are nice , especially the outdoor cloud bath with milky color , make your skin silky smooth. Short walk to the Yubatake and Hotel has shuttle service day and night too. Buffet dinner were amazing 👏 served with local beef steaks which was really tasty.

spacious room (4/F in the original building) but directly facing their back of the building and couple of big vents so it wasn't a good view. we couldn't even open the window cos of that smoke and smell venting out. There is no AC and we couldn't open room windows to air due to the vents , so it is kinda too warm to sleep , since we are from the north , we are used to the cold not the heat. This is just us. 😅

The experience was excellent. The staff was very friendly and used to dealing with english speakers, the food was great with a lot of choice, and of course the baths were relaxing and not crowded at all. At this time of the year, it is quite cold outside so make sure to have warm clothes ready. Visiting the town while it was snowing was really great.

Unfortunately, the karaoke rooms were closed on the day we were there but since it wasn't the main point of the stay it didn't matter that much. The temperature in the room was a little bit too high (especially while sleeping in the futons), but appart from that everything was perfect.

We loved the buffet, room and the spa, hot springs and show.

Wish we had more free amenities such as drink machines with coffee/tea. We were used to Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka accommodations with guest lounges where you can relax before and after check out. Also the check out time wished it was 11am like the others as well but guessing 10am is standard for that region. Also didn't like that the hotel shut down the stores and all facilities shortly after check out times. You have to leave the hotel immediately after checking out. I wanted to shop more in the store after checking out but around 10:30am or so they shut down all the lights and gates. Looked like the entire hotel shut down after check out. We were wondering what happened to the guests who were staying a second night or multiple nights.

Complimentary snack cakes and Nespresso coffee in room. Dinner buffet and breakfast buffet service include traditional Japanese cuisine such as tonkatsu, tempura, curry, sashimi, and Western items like roast beef, pasta, seafood paella. Many varieties of fresh vegetables and sliced fruit to mix your own salad. Onsen water is hotter than expected, but I felt comfortable after soaking for about 15 minutes and improve my sleep. Hotel has ramps for wheelchair users to access the main dining hall and lobby. Complimentary shuttle bus between hotel and Kusatsu Onsen bus terminal, and from hotel to the yubatake.

Public onsen bath is not fully wheelchair accessible. The changing area and lockers are located in the basement which is reachable with a different elevator, but the actual bath is located beneath the changing area and is only accessible by stairs (5-6 steps). While the hotel shuttle bus driver will provide a wooden step chair to assist my mother on and off the bus on first day. another driver on the following day did not provide the step chair to minimize the height of the bus. No morning shuttle bus service to yubatake. Shuttle bus to town center where yubatake is located only runs from 15:00 to 17:30 and from 19:30 to 21:00.

Dinner and breakfast was all you can eat and the food was fabulous. There were so many variety that I couldn’t sample them all but what I did have were all delicious. In the morning they had fresh squeezed orange juice where you can see the machine squeezing the oranges. How much fresher can it get. Refreshing and Delicious! Relaxed in the huge onsen and enjoyed the oar and drum performance. We had to leave early in the morning and the hotel was able to accommodate our request and shuttle us to the bus stop at a non scheduled time. Thank you Sakurai hotel. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Wonderful, authentic experience. In particular the attendant who checked us in (Laky) was extremely helpful for letting us know what the customs and rules are, especially since we didn't speak Japanese. We would have missed out on a lot without his guidance. The accomodations we facilities were clean, comfortable, and relaxing. The food was tasty. The location being walking distance from the town center was convenient.

Not much to place here. It's a bigger operation that most onsen in the area, but for first timers like us that was a plus.

All very organized. Terminal bus is really near but with the snow, the shuttle is really handy. Breakfast and dinner are amazing. Love everything. The onsen/ spring water was delicious, and what I was looking for, there was one open and you could see trees with snow! ⛄️

Nothing. Only they could serve water inside the woman’s change room, spring water.

Beautiful hotel, amazing amenities, very helpful and sweet staff and everything was very thoughtful. The dinner and breakfast buffet was so delicious! The quality is not what you’d expect when you hear buffet - very good quality and I loved that the portions were small enough so you could sample many dishes. I also loved the outdoor private bath we had in our room, great for a quick dip if you didn’t want to go all the way down to the public baths.

fair price for one stay with 2 meals, car park is big, hot spring also large to accommodate many guests

staffs not speaking English, and they did not communicated well among themselves. our toilet broken at 9pm and they didn't fixed that until 11:30pm. this wasted our time for waiting and keep on calling the front desk.

The food at the buffet both for breakfast and dinner were fabulous. The place is non-traditional and is a very nice modern hotel, while still retaining elements that keeps the place feeling like a ryokan. The performance was a nice treat.

Only two main baths, though they were indeed very large and spacious and were great. Some ryokans tend to swap the male and female side and so there are more baths to experience.
