the hot spring baths were beautiful and accepting of tattoos. grounds were stunning, really nice flowers and lawn to sit out on in day or night. the room was a great size and the beds were comfortable. recommend asking for a soft pillow. location was perfect, 3 minute walk to ropeway and ship.

the breakfast had many options, however, flavours were a bland or unusual. scrambled eggs were undercooked, bread roll was delicious. the dinner had delicious appetisers (sashimi was fantastic), however the hot food was lacklustre and seemed to lack seasoning. the hot pot was good but a bit bland, the main was average at best.

2minute walk from ropeway at Lake Ashi. Beautifully manicured grounds, autumn colours; beautiful hotel. A1: Scenery, location, Japanese room, loungeroom, Onsen facilities, staff, breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. Yukatas lovely. Definitely recommend. Wonderful :)

I really enjoyed my stay at Hakone Lake Hotel! It’s a modest yet traditional feeling space with a very helpful staff. The room was spacious, the robes & bodycare they provided felt luxurious, and I will remember this onsen experience for a long time. Another major plus is that this hotel is easily accessible by bus and very close to Togendai Sation and the nearby pirate ship port.

The room was nice but the bathroom felt a bit old. A modest bathroom isn't a major concern for me. My biggest piece of feedback is to make the beds more comfortable. My mattress was extremely firm and the pillow was a rock.

The family room was half western, half traditional Japanese which was perfect. The teens loved sleeping on the tatami mat. The onsen was very nice with plenty amenities. Dinner had a great mix of foods to try.

Minor points: there was no shower in the room. You had to shower at the shared onsen facilities. This was fine for the adults but not so good for shy teenage boys. Also, when I have stayed in hotels like this before, they have made up the beds at night. This did not happen here. A minor point thought. The staff were all lovely.

Location is very convenient, away from the busy parts of Hakone surrounded by a beautiful garden and minutes away from the boat terminal. The food was very good! We booked our room with the half board option included and it was a very good choice since there are no convenience stores/shops on this side of the town. Dinner was amazing. Our room was a decent size, bathroom a little small for us. The onsen facilities were clean. Perhaps the hotel has been renovated recently, because everything looked in good condition.

We understand that it was a Sunday night so perhaps the hotel was not at full capacity, but we felt both breakfast and dinner times were a bit limited (we sat down for dinner at 18:45 I think, and by 20:00 they were closing down). Also, the following morning staff started cleaning up rooms way before check-out time, so we felt a bit rushed.

Great location for all the tourist sites. In 5 minutes you can walk to the cable car and pirate ship entry points. Lovely hotel onsen. Breakfast and dinner were buffet style, with beautiful entrees served for dinner. Lovely sunlounger style chairs at the front of the hotel to relax in the sunshine. Easy to get to from Odawara station - 60 mins on a direct bus.

Only small gripe is that if your room is on the first floor there is no lift so you need to carry your suitcases up the stairs yourself. We noticed that staff helped to carry other guests’ bags up to their rooms, but my friend and I had to hike ours up ourselves! Due to the buffet style nature of the dinner and breakfast you dont get the ‘traditional’ feel that you might get at other places, as this hotel is a bit more modern.

I really liked the breakfast buffet! I think it was great value for the quality. The onsen was also really great since there were rotenburos and sauna. It was perfect for the cold winter weather. The facilities in general were pretty clean and the room was very nice.

The only thing I think the hotel could improve on is the price. The staff were really nice and the location is good since it is close to Togendai station and Hakone Lake Hotel mae bus stop, but with the location being far from conveniences like food, convenience stores, etc., I think the price is a little more on the expensive side. That said, I really enjoyed it.

Wonderful onsen that the the 8 of us enjoyed, especially in the rain. Appreciated that it was both indoor and outdoor. Good family-friendly dinner and breakfast. Location at the ropeway and pirate ship was ideal. (However, the day we arrived neither was working due to bad weather, so we had to take a bus/ car there which was somewhat bothersome) The staff graciously let us check in early, which was very much appreciated as it was stormy. The next day the weather cleared and we were perfectly situated for those attractions.

It would be nice if the beds would be set for us. We knew to expect to make them ourselves, but it would feel so much more luxurious. It didn't detract too much though. Also the shared toilet-- not a surprise, but not ideal. Again, not a big deal and wouldn't deter us from staying again.

The room was really spatious, clean and the foutons were comfortable. There was even one extra fouton bed. The free onsen was really good with high quality cosmetics and cleaning products. The locality is fine, you can arrive with a bus from Fuji or from Odawara and you can also use the boat nearby.

Inside the hotel you can find onsen with no charge which is almost necessary to use with no shower in the room. The breakfast was not only japanese however the selection and taste of western style breakfast was bad so we ended with japanese food again.

We love the onsen, the dinner course meal, and the breakfast buffet. It was such a rejuvenating stay for us even though it’s just one night. The room is spacious and very comfortable! The hotel is also a few steps away from the main togendai station, it is a station for the hakone ropeway, the sight seeing cruise and the bus. It’s a treasure location!

We have a hard time using the air conditioning as it’s not giving out cold air. It was abit hot in the room.
