It was recommended that we stay at Kamakura Prince if we wanted a good view of Mt Fuji. We were very fortunate to have a great view of Mt Fuji at sunset on the day we checked in. The staff was very cordial and helpful, the breakfast was okay, and housekeeping seemed to do the best they could with this property.

It is obvious that this hotel is very old, and that major repairs and renovations are not in their plans. The bathroom was so old and you could see MOLD in the rough grout. The metal overhead vanity light fixture showed a lot of RUST (there was no ventilation in the bathroom). It was not pleasant. Prior to Kamakura Prince, we stayed at three other hotels (Tokyo, Kanazawa, and Kyoto). Unfortunately, Kamakura Prince was the most expensive hotel, but the least desirable.

We loved the room, we had an amazing view of the town and could even see Mt Fuji! There was also a shuttle bus to the nearest station that was offered, which we greatly appreciated. The station was only 10 mins away by foot but it feels much longer when you’re pulling your luggage! The bed was HUGE, and so comfortable. The staff were lovely, we had a lovely stay there.

The bathroom wasn’t as lovely as the rest of the room was, I think the design could be improved on if any renovations will be undertaken in the future. My partner and I thought the sink was blocked up, but realised that we just don’t know how to use the sink (there was a lever we didn’t know was a lever).

The hotel is set high on a hill overlooking Enoshima Island and Mt. Fuji. The view is, simply, stunning. The village is a quiet little seaside town, which suited us perfectly. The electric train runs along the coast, linking the little towns to Kamakura. The hotel has is a swimming pool (closed when we were there), a golf driving range next door, and a lot of sea activities, such a surfing and small boat/board sailing. It would be a great spot for a few days of R&R from whirlwind touring. The hotel offers a free bus service to and from the local station, but you can walk to anywhere in the village, where there is a (limited) range of restaurants - the food we tried was excellent. The hotel also serves meals. Our room was large and comfortable, with a good amount of clothes storage, a full-size closet, a desk/make-up space and good mirror, a coffee table and chairs, and a small balcony. The bathroom is also large, with a generous sized bathtub. Everything was sparkling clean. Reception and other staff were friendly and very welcoming; communication was easy as many spoke good English. If you decide to stay, book a landmark view room on the 4th floor. Well worth the extra price. But, be warned Fuji-san is not always in view, we had a lot of sea mist on our visit so you may only get half the view you’ve paid for.

I liked everything! The only comment I have is that the decor is a little dated and there seem to be a lot of rules about dress code and food - bringing your own food and drink into the hotel is forbidden.

the view from the rooms are outstanding. you can see the ocean and on one day we also saw the Fujisan! it was amazing! the beds were very comfortable and you have actually everything you need in the room. the staff was really friendly and helped us changing the room, because our window was a little bit milky and we didnt had a good view. we told the staff at the front desk and they immediatly looked for another room, in which we could change.

i booked the breakfast (for about 20$ per person), but my boyfriend is vegetarian and the buffet was definatly not made for vegetarians. he had an Omlett and a salad plus bread. so the 20$ wasnt worth it for him, this was a bit disappointing. they could offer more for vegetarians!!!

The location is excellent. Not just as it is close to the station and overlooks the beach but because it is set in a very interesting (wealthy) local neighbourhood that is fascinating to walk around. Also got a local supermarket at the top of the (small) hill.

Rooms are a bit dated but so what... it is still a good place to stay. I do wish that the pool area still had some seating options outside even when the pool is empty.

Staff - very professional, service oriented and extremely polite. Location - ocean front, 5min walk to a train station. Nice restaurants and cafes in the neighbourhood. View - ocean all the tine… Fuji the last morning!!!

Rooms as clean as they are - somewhat dated. Definitely the whole place is in need of a good renovation. However, value for the price was quite good.

The staff was very helpful and kind. I have found that to be common at all Prince hotels I have stayed at. The view of the ocean was great. The food in the restaurant was very good, although a little expensive.

The pool was not open. The location is at the top of a hill. Be sure to take the shuttle from the train station or have a taxi arranged for pickup if coming in on the train. It would be nice if you could use the hotel shuttle to get into nearby cities as well.

It is a nostalgic hotel with good maintenance. Friendly staffs. Great location for a vacation with a great view in every room.

The pillow and bed are not too comfortable. Hope the hotel will consider improving that.
