This is a great option for staying in Kyoto! We found it a comfortably out of the main hustle, but a super easy walk or train ride to anywhere we wanted to go. Options for food and coffee the surround area (within 10 minute walk) were excellent. We loved the drinks and snacks that were available, and the lobby was comfortable to relax in. Bathroom was great, by any hotel standard, but especially compared to other places we’ve stayed in Japan. Would absolutely stay here again.

Found the beds and pillows here quite firm. Noticed that is just a common preference in Japan, but found this especially so here. Not my personal preference, but I also wouldn’t call it uncomfortable. If you like a firm mattress and pillow then you’ll enjoy this!

The location is great, close to the subway, and a lot of Kyoto attractions. It is located in a quiet street, so no noise bothers you. The rooms seem almost brand new, and I really loved the bathroom options - shower and a bath. Staff was very helpful

The beds are pretty hard and, surprisingly, even the pillows. Come mentally prepared if that's not your jam.

Very modern, new, comfortable (except the pillows but they gave me another one). Karasuma Oike metro station, very convenient. Washing machine works with coins, no need to buy detergent separately. Coffee is good and available all day. Nice free bread and pastries (a couple of fruits would be great as a suggestion). My room was extremely quiet, I didn’t hear one noise.

Out of a 6 nights stay I only asked that they make the room twice. And never to change the sheets. But the 2 times they « made the room », they did not make the bed nor change the glasses. And the second time they did not even wipe the sink. So basically making the room seems limited to changing the garbage bins.

The Insomnia exceeded our expectations. Of the 4 different hotels my daughter and I stayed in while in Japan for 2 weeks this was by far our favorite. Very thoughtful room layout and attention to the small details such as: L shaped couch in corner, black out curtains, free espresso machine in lobby, separate toilet room from shower. Staff was helpful when asked and one senior staff went out of her way to make us feel welcome. The design of the hotel itself with elevators in the middle so that hallways are even private~we felt like we had the place to ourselves despite the place having many other guests.

Nothing really it really is a great little hotel and I'm so glad we stayed there 4 nights.

The hotel is really beautiful and located in quite area with many interesting small shops and restaurants, very close to the metro station. Room is big and comfortable for Japanese standards, it’s also clean. Hotel offers snacks and drinks free of charge.

We had some issues with room cleaning. Once the stuff went inside the room ignoring “do not disturb” sign. And second our door was wide open when we came back to the room and no one was there cleaning. Cleaning stuff just left our door open in the middle of cleaning and left for long time.

What a beautiful hotel! The room was spacious, the decor simple but beautiful. The hotel provides complementary drinks ( coffe/tea/green tea/orange juice) at the reception with some bread & pastries. We didn't have the chance to use them, but there were also bikes. The location was perfect - close to everything, you can easily walk everywhere in Kyoto. There is also a Subway station just around the corner. They also provide pyjamas for stay over 2 nights. I would definitely recommend this hotel.This is so far our favourite hotel in Japan.

We booked Insomnia as we felt the price was very reasonable. We weren’t sure what to expect but we’re so happy with our decision to stay here for 5 nights and do day trips. The hotel itself is clean, modern and very comfortable. Every day in the lobby and lounge area a selection of hot and cold drinks are available to guests alongside pastries both sweet and savoury. We grabbed a cold coffee and pastry every morning for breakfast which meant we could get out and about the much quicker! There's also a small library, board games and sofa for guests to wnjoy. The staff were every friendly, welcoming and helpful! Our room was on the 5th floor and was quiet, comfortable and very well equipped with all of the amenities we could need. i would absolutely stay here again! As a bonus, you are less than 5 minutes from Honke Owariya which is the oldest udon restaurant in Kyoto! It opens at 11am and you need to be there early to guarantee a seat so have a leaisurely morning and head there for 10/10:30!

The room was spacious, really loved the design and the headboard detail 😻 the lobby has tons of cool books and magazines, games, vinyl, juice, coffee, croissants (free of charge) and even wine and beer dispenser ( around 500¥ per drink). The hotel offers free bikes! I wish we stayed a bit more here. Hope to visit the hotel next year!

It would be nice if the hotel added a tiny-tiny drawer to each room🙈 the room was not as clean as in the other hotels we stayed at for the same price- the shower vent grid was super dusty so that I couldn’t stop myself and cleaned it 🤣 but it didn’t affect our stay- everything was great!

We loved this hotel the most of all the 5 hotels we stayed in in Japan. The lobby/lounge area is cozy and comfortable. Hung out there one afternoon just to chill out with beer and snacks. Complimenary pastry, snacks, coffee and tea, juice available at all hours; no need to go out to breakfast. The croissantes were some of the best we have had; rivaled the boulonge near our AirBand B in Paris. Wine and beer also available for purchase at all hours self serve. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Several spoke English, unlike most other hotels we stayed in. The room was larger than many we stayed in for this price range. Comfortable beds. The best blackout shades we have ever had. The only hotel we stayed in that had drawers for clothes. Very quiet. The shower had nozzles at many levels. Also a soaking tub. Coin laundry in the hotel. Very well located, short walk to Nijo and palace. Subway half a block away, Many restaurants nearby

Loved our stay here. We'll come back here next time we are in Kyoto. The hotel is new. Rooms are well equipped and nicely decorated. Small but spacious by Japanese hotel standards. The beds are high so our suitcases fitted nicely underneath. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The 24h free coffee and bakery items in the lobby were most welcome. The location is excellent as well. 3 min walk to the station, which has two different metro lines. 7 Eleven around the corner. Cafes and restaurants nearby. Nijo castle a short walk away.

An iron in the room would be nice
