We are older, independent travelers. Our expectations are for a quiet room in a good location and we are not interested in extraneous services. We stayed six nights in early May. The Kyoto Kamanza Hotel is in a wonderful location. It is on a quiet street in a nice Kyoto neighborhood. There are many small shops and restaurants nearby. We especially liked the Flip Up bakery just around the corner on Oshikoji-Dori where we went every day for croissants and pastries. It is also easy walking distance to the Karasuma-Oike subway station, the Nijo Castle, the Imperial Palace and the bus lines on Marutamachi-Dori. There was also a coin-op launderette on Karasuma that was within five minutes walk. So great to be on a quiet street in a real neighborhood, but at the same time be connected to the larger city. The hotel itself is lovely. It is small, newly built and very clean. We were told that the front desk might not be staffed during our stay, but someone was almost always there during the day and we were able to easily arrange leaving our luggage for a few hours on our last day in Kyoto. The room was spacious and the bath was fantastic with the toilet separate from the shower and large soaking tub. The air conditioning worked well. We never heard any of our neighbors.

Wow. We loved this hotel. After the crowds and noise of Tokyo, we were happy to stay at this hotel which is in a quiet residential neighborhood. This is a very small hotel with 10 rooms. We were given a very large room (suite 203). I have not seen the other rooms but they were smaller. Our room had 2 large beds, a sitting area, a very large bathroom, 2 sinks, large counter, large shower (wet room) and a separate toilet. The beds were very comfortable (our best in Japan), the drapes were opaque allowing for darkness in the room in the morning. Even if this hotel is in a quiet area, we had easy direct access to many tourist places (Arashiyama, golden temple, Fushimi Irani, Nara, etc) by bus or metro with just a few minutes walking. The area also has restaurants, grocery, convenient store within a few minutes walk. Hotel was able to receive and send our luggage with Yamoto. We stayed 8 days as we used this hotel as our base to visit Kyoto and surrounding areas. Thank you so much for such a great stay.

Kyoto Kamanza hotel was very conveniently located close to bus stops and train stations. It was in a quiet, local neighborhood, which we loved because Kyoto is very touristy! It was nice to come back to a quiet place to refresh. Staff was very nice and accomodating, rooms were much bigger than anywhere else we saw in Kyoto and comfortable! Had all amenities available even a microwave in each floor so you can use. The price was unbeatable too for the amount of space and comfort we got!

In the room we stayed, there were no views from the windows and locked. We were able to open one window, which we did because in the nights it got too hot in the room. But I'm sure as winter kicks in, this wont be a problem.

The room was a very good size for a Japanese hotel. Suite size. More than I needed. The room is beautiful and very well furnished. The staff were very helpful and accommodating when I needed additional items. It's located 450m from Nijo Castle and the Nijo Metro Station. I think the hotel presents a lot of value for the person staying. In a quiet area, if you like or are looking for that.

The option for cleaning is only post your stay. I would say that it would be nice to have it done on request even if it's at a fee. The room for its size lacks hanging rails for towels. For me, this is important. The location, while fairly close to a metro, is not as exciting as staying closer to Kyoto station and not so close to shops, etc

This room was great value for money! Our beds were incredibly comfortable with two pillows to choose from (one softer, one harder) and the bathroom had everything you could need: shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lotions, hair dryer etc Staff was friendly too and everything very clean!

The room is huge and really comfortable. A couple of things to be aware of are that the room is not cleaned during your stay. You can help yourself to fresh towels etc off a trolley in the hallway. This didn’t bother us, but if you like a turn down then this is not the place. Also, no water in the rooms, but a vending machine downstairs so again not a deal breaker. The reception is not manned 24 hours and when we left at 930am nobody was there. We were hoping to leave our luggage and go check out the castle but couldn’t as there was nobody around to ask. The rooms are really lovely though, close to a train station, very easy to get around and plenty of food options. I would stay again. We stayed 3 nights.

The room was lovely, the bed was comfortable, the area was quiet and very walkable. The room was well designed with a lovely bathroom and a small table and chairs to sit and enjoy your breakfast. The hotel was an affordable oasis!

Booking.com said the room included breakfast, it didn't. But that is likely a mistake by booking.com and not a reflection on the property. The property offers a few restaurant suggestions, I would have appreciated additional local suggestions but just a suggestion, not a criticism

beautiful- and great beds and shower/bathroom supwr manager/front desk gentleman who also referred good restaurant recommendations including for vegetarian husband and helped forward on our luggage. very lovely ataff but we all use google translate of course!

in a place with no breakfast or restaurant available (which we knew in advance) they should have better coffeemaking facilities vs the instant drip coffee bags. why not nespresso -if not in each room then one per floor? also it was a bit disappointing not to be able to open a window but thats apparently not uncommon in japan.

Spacious room with lovely decor and big bathroom. Quiet street. Location quite central, bit of a walk to nearby bus and train lines that got us to main places to visit . 8 min walk to metro, 2 stops to Kyoto station. 20 to 30 min walk to downtown shopping and Nishiki market. Excellent places to eat nearby and hotel staff were very helpful with recommendations and bookings.

No washing machine . Little bit on the expensive side for 3 star but probably competitive price for Kyoto in autumn.

This hotel is superb. The front desk is not always manned and the rooms aren’t serviced daily, but the staff are very friendly and helpful and can easily be contacted at any time. The rooms are spacious and beautiful - we had a double and a triple right next to each other with plenty of space and amenities available in the hallway. There is no laundry facilities or meals available but they gave a great cheat sheet about local places to eat/ laundry etc. Rooms very comfortable, quiet and aesthetically pleasing decor - very comfortable beds. Thus hotel is best value for comfort and quality in good quiet area of Kyoto. We would definitely stay there again.
