Excellent hotel with great hospitality and service. The team of staff were always smiley, super friendly and very very helpful and patient. There was a Taiwanese lady at the reception, who provided us with super clear explanations on directions, offered to help to book restaurants for us, and also arranged for luggage delivery. She speaks really good English and Japanese too. She made us feel very very Welcomed. It was a very very pleasant stay for our family of four definitely! My teenage boys loved the hotel rooms so much with he bunk beds and personal space. So much that we decided to book another Mimaru chain hotel in Tokyo for our next few days of travel and cancelled our original booking with another hotel. We were very impressed by the service (all staff speaks excellent English), the spacious room and the convenience. About 7 mins walk (500m) to Shijo Subway, which easily connects us to other stations ard Kyoto. If we ever visit Kyoto again, this will be our house stay for sure.

No big issues at all. If we must really be nitty gritty and fuss over nothing... it will be that they do not provide the luggage stand/table. It may be somewhere in the cupboards etc but we couldn't find it. However, the room is huge and we just lay open our three luggages over the floor space. No problem to us at all.

We stayed in the Pokemon room at the Mimaru and it was everything my kids could have hoped for. From the giant Snoralax stuffed animal sleeping on the bed to the pokemon gracing the walls, it was adorably done. My kids also appreciated the pokemon bag and key chain that came with the room. The facilities were very clean and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They were very kind and tried to make you comfortable. We appreciated their recommendations for a guide to hire during the day to take us to the various sights. The hotel appears to be recently renovated. We loved the shower. The location was wonderful. It was a short walk to the main shopping area. Many great restaurants are close by, along with grocery stores. I would definitely recommend this hotel! My kids didn't want to leave. It was a great stay.

I appreciated the laundry services on site, but the dryers may need some servicing. After 90 minutes, some of our clothes were still damp. With that being said, that would not stop me from staying there again.

This is by far the most comfortable and spacious apartment hotel we have ever stayed in as a family. The coffee machine was a very nice touch. The in-room mobile device gave information on which washing machines and tumble driers were occupied and for how long - very clever! The textured wall paper made the place feel very Japanese yet modern. The beds were very comfortable.

2 suggestions; more towel racks on the wall in the bathroom, at present, only two on the door. And larger size pajamas(buttons came undone easily)for non-Japanese size bodies, or better still yukatas.

Lovely room, great location, we didn’t mind the 8 min walk to station, super quiet, staff were brilliant, so friendly, excellent English and nothing was too much trouble. We LOVED the shower here, great bathroom and water pressure, spacious and all the amenities we needed. Also loved the big fridge. So handy with the wonderful big fresh supermarket nearby, meant we could have later night snacks given most things go quiet in Kyoto by 9. The only very small issue was the smoke alarms on ceiling have a very bright green light that illumines the whole room and right above where one bed lays their head. It was really annoying and too high up to try and cover with electrical tape to dull. Otherwise, utterly wonderful. Completely recommend highly.

Rooms are spacious and was great for my family of 4 to have a table and small kitchen. This makes a big difference in making it feel homely compared to just a hotel room. Everything is modern and very clean, feels like you are getting some luxuries without the cost, great value. Staff at this location was excellent and went above and beyond for every question we asked. Their English was impressive and every single person on the staff was so helpful, patient and welcoming. Highly recommend Mimaru, stayed in one in Tokyo as well and had an equally good experience.

Location was on a quiet road but felt a touch far away from train and main attractions in Kyoto. This is slightly nitpicking though because the truth is that things are spread out in Kyoto more than I expected. As a result, we felt getting taxis back to hotel was often best option for us, but it was mostly because we were tired. There were restaurants and conveniences within short distance so overall was fine with the location.

We had a wonderful few days here. The staff is amazing - so kind, friendly and helpful. We actually checked in a day earlier than planned because of the typhoon, and the hotel was very accommodating. The rooms are spacious and are well-equipped. We had a Japanese-styled room, which was great and the children loved it. We also had a peek at the Pokemon room, which looked awesome! There are lots of games, Apple TV and other items you can borrow from the front desk, which certainly helped during the typhoon! Super laundry facilities with lots of availability. Great location too.

We did miss not having a window to look out of, but not a huge issue.

The room looked exactly as shown in pictures. The room was exceptionally clean and perfectly suited for our family of 6. Every detail was met - from room slippers, to multiple towels, to different climate control for both rooms. As a group of 6 there was plenty of room for everyone, and we particularly appreciated TWO toilets and an abundance of toilet paper! The front desk was helpful although all of our needs were met so we had little need to use their services. The “free rental” of games was a nice touch as was the “starry nightlight”. There is even a room iphone that allows you to check the status of the washing machines downstairs (although we were the only ones that used them). There were shared umbrellas at the entry, which was appreciated and used frequently given the rain. The bedding was crisp and clean. Overall I would say this was best family room we have ever stayed in through all of our travels. If ever in the area again I would not hesitate to stay again and will recommend to everyone who comes to Kyoto.

Nothing to improve upon at the property, but the location is slightly further from a lot of restaurant options and train than other properties. However we already knew this going into the stay. There is an excellent sushi place, chicken place and dumpling place within a 5 min walk and a great ramen place within 10 mins. Convenience store around the corner.

We stayed in the Pokemon room, and the kids reaction to seeing it was priceless. Location was great as it was a straight shot on Bus 50 to Kyoto Station and east to walk to Nishiki market area. There was a full bath plus a powder room, so for 2 adults and 4 kids in one room—that’s fantastic. We had some picky eaters and were able to cook food they knew from home in the kitchen for them since it’s hard to find Western food around. There was a market just up the street called Fresco that had a bigger selection than the many wonderful convenience stores we usually ate from. Staff was helpful with bus schedules and helped us when we were caught in a downpour. Laundry room off the lobby was great—you can’t choose the setting or temperature of the washer but our light delicates came out fine so I’m guessing it was a default gentle cold cycle. Plenty of amenities in case you forgot something at home and like most Japanese hotels, thoughtful touches everywhere. There were 2 king beds (2 twins pushed together to make each king) plus a bunk bed. There was a hanging rack to air dry clothes and good closet space. Our kids loved all the cute Pokémon amenities and guest gifts!

There wasn’t anything not to like.

This hotel suits family groups which require bigger space, mini kitchen and service. We love the space in the room specially with two separate toilets. Plenty charge sockets in the room and we have a good dinning area as well. Staffs are so friendly and greeting with smiles all the time. There are supermarket and 24hr store nearby also a No.50 bus stop just right at the front area.

Pillows are not so comfortable for me and it would be better to have kid's pajama on site so all families could wear same type of pajamas for fun.

Absolutely wonderful hotel with caring and attentive staff. The rooms were large and clean and featured plenty of space. Plenty of amenities in rooms and more available to borrow from the lobby just by requesting them at the front desk. The location was good and we were able to walk from the subway to the hotel within a few minutes. The staff was very accommodating to our needs and held our luggage for us several hours after checkout so that we could enjoy a final day in Kyoto before moving on to our next destination. We will definitely stay at Mimaru hotels in the future.

Zero dislikes about this hotel. We enjoyed our stay and the care we received from the hotel staff.
